1. Camden-Carroll Library
Receives “Let’s Talk
About It” Grant
Aug. 29, 2013 - Morehead State
University’s very own Camden-Carroll
Library has recently received the “Let’s
Talk about It” grant from the National
Endowment for the Humanities and the
American Library Association.
This new grant, received last Wednesday
on August 21st
, allows for an expansion
of the role of the library in providing
quality and valued educational material
about Muslim culture. The subject had
received new support previously with
the earlier Muslim Journeys Bookshelf
grant, which the library received last
year that supplied funds to support book
discussions on select volumes from the
Muslim Journeys Bookshelf, which are
currently stated to be held in the spring
of 2014.
Associate Professor of History, Dr.
Alana Scott, will act as the resident
scholar of activities and exploration.
Outreach and librarian instructor Sandy
Sumner will stand as the lead planner of
the events.
To celebrate the acquiring of the grant,
MSU’s Arts and Humanities Council,
Department of International and
Interdisciplinary Studies, Office of
Student Activities, Inclusion, and
Leadership Development, and Theatre
and Dance Studies area, along with the
Camden-Carroll Library itself will
present the Rakadu Gypsy Dance Troup
for a performance and dance master
class Thursday, Sept. 19.
The performance will take place in
Button Auditorium and is open to all
interested in attending.
The culture of the followers of the
Muslim faith is a wonderful subject that
can be intriguing to research as both one
of the world’s oldest and storied major
religions, as well as a unique perspective
and way of life.
