1. MSU to take part in
'RecycleMania'
1/30/2014 – During the following two
months from Feb. to Mar. 31, Morehead
State University will be taking part in
"RecycleMania." This nationwide
contest between colleges and higher
education institutions encourages
community recycling and will offer
rewarding chances and opportunities for
the schools and students involved.
MSU has ordered 59 new recycling bins
with the university’s logo that faculty
will place besides the other outside
garbage bins around the campus and at
sporting event areas. 11 new 4-
compartment recycling bins will also be
placed within residence hall lobbies for
ease of access for the MSU community.
Students that choose to use the bins will
be eligible to win great prizes and work
to earn a new sitting bench for the
school. More information about the
contest is available at the Earthwise
Eagles Facebook and Twitter pages.
The MSU Sustainability Committee has
declared that they will assist the
university in recycling much more
materials over the next two years. Their
goal is to increase the amount of
recycled materials generated at the
workplace by 10 percent over the next
two years.
To help achieve this goal, MSU will take
several actions which may include:
• Identifying opportunities to recycle
more and waste less
• Making recycling more convenient in
our workplace to enable greater
participation
• Increasing employee awareness of
waste reduction and recycling
opportunities in the workplace
• Identifying cost-effective opportunities
to purchase products with recycled
content
• Implementing purchasing policies that
consider a product’s end of life use and
ability to be recycled
• Reporting on our actions and progress
through the Recycling at Work online
reporting system
• Inviting at least one other company or
organization to take this Pledge.
MSU is honored to take the Recycling at
Work pledge and join with other
businesses and organizations in helping
to increase recycling at our workplace.
Every little action adds up to making a
big difference for a greener earth.
