Morehead State University and Ashland Community and Technical College signed an agreement to establish a 2+2 transfer program in space science. The program allows students to complete their first two years of coursework at ACTC before transferring to MSU to finish their bachelor's degree. The agreement outlines the specific courses students need to take at each institution to complete the program. Both schools will work together to ensure required courses are offered and the program can be finished in a reasonable time while keeping content relevant to industry standards.

Space Science
Transfer Agreement
with Ashland
Community and
Technical College
Oct. 22, 2014 - Morehead State
University and Ashland Community and
Technical College teamed up to make an
agreement last Friday, Oct. 17 to
establish a transfer program between
them in the field of Space Science.
The new agreement was co-signed by
MSU president Dr. Wayne D. Andrews,
and ACTC president and CEO Dr. Kay
Adkins, who performed the deed in the
Rocky Adkins Pavilion on the
Technology Drive campus.
"Space Science is an exciting high-tech
field of the future," said Dr.
Adkins. "This collaboration with MSU
will provide our students with an
additional option for continuing their
education in the region."
In this 2+2 transfer program, students
will be able to complete two years of
study at ACTC before being allowed to
transfer into the Bachelor of Science
degree program in Space Science at
MSU. The agreement of the two
universities thoroughly lists the specific
ACTC and MSU courses required to
attain a bachelor’s degree with this
method, with freshman and sophomore
level courses assigned to be finished at
ACTC and the upper-level junior and
senior courses to be completed at MSU.
ACTC and MSU will continue to
collaborate and assist each other to
develop and deliver the required courses
so that the program may be concluded in
an understandable amount of time. The
two universities will also look and
review the agreement routinely to ensure
that the course content accurately
reflects industry developments,
accreditation guidelines, and
employment trends.
"We are pleased to be partnering
with ACTC to help more students
succeed in college. We are answering
the challenge to remove barriers which
make it difficult for many ACTC alumni
to finish a four-year degree," said Dr.
Andrews. "Our Space Science program
is one of five in the United States to
offer a bachelor's degree in space
science and has some outstanding
students enrolled. We value our
partnership with ACTC and look
forward to making it simpler for students
to convert their associate degrees and
two additional years of study into a
bachelor’s degree."
