Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting
The setting of this game is in Arkham City, but because you play as batman, the
gameplay should tend to be on rooftops at night time, and in other shadows in the
city. As it is a batman game the setting isn’t much different to the other games a
whole bunch, as the theme of the games are generally the same.
A voice over has been used in the trailer probably
in a soundproof room and using a microphone.
Audio editing software has clearly been used to
generate the environmental audio, such as
footsteps and rain etc.
Mood The mood of the game has a dark theme to it, as the game is based on the dark
knight himself, the music, the environments and other characters all tend to have a
dark theme. From the low pitched music to the voices of the characters, everything
about this game sounds sinister in one way or another.
Audio editing software has been used to adjust
the pitch and tone of the audio. The deepened
effect helps with the dark feel of the trailer, and
this effect works well with this kind of game
sequence.
Game genre
Open world, action adventure, stealth.
The Voice over is crystal clear and a sound
recording room with a high quality microphone
has been used to get crisp quality of the tone of
voice used in the sequence.
Narrative The voice over of Hugo Strange is dark and mysterious.
His agendas are dark along with the theme of the game.
The narrative describes Hugo Strange’s agendas
to a degree and gives some insight on batman in
the trailer, and this once again, is done with using
a microphone in a sound proof room, with slight
pitch adjustment.
