A Detailed Lesson Plan for Science

1. Latitude- is the measurement of a
part of the Earth in relation to the north
or south of the Earth’s equator.
2. Longitude- angular distance east or
west on the earth’s surface, measured
by the angle contained between the
meridian of a particular place and some
prime meridian.
B. Motivation
Class, imagine you are flying on a plane
where you can see beautiful skies,
Amazing views but how do you know
where to go? There aren’t any signs
floating in the air right? So how do pilots
know where to land there planes?
Would you like to know how?
Can you guess what is our lesson for
today?
C. Lesson Proper
Class do you know what is latitude and
longitude?
Can you tell me what is latitude?

(The teacher will be passing a small
globe for the students to see the lines of
latitude and longitude)
What do you call the line that is zero
degrees latitude?
Latitude are parallel to the equator and
to each other. They do not meet and
they form circles that are smaller at the
poles.
If latitude is a parallel line that circles
the Earth then what is longitude?
Yes Sophia
Very Good!.
The lines of longitude are not parallel to
each other.
3. Coordinate system- is a method for
identifying the location of a point on the
earth.
We don’t know sir.
Yes sir!
Latitude and Longitude sir
Yes sir.
Sir latitude, this are imaginary lines that
circles the Earth and is parallel to the
equator.
Sir the line that is zero degrees latitude
is called the equator.
Sir the line of longitude goes up and
down. They are through the North Pole
and South pole and the zero degrees
line of longitude is called the prime
meridian.
You may also use this knowledge in
your other subjects such as A.P., Math,
and etc.
Now that we already know what is
latitude and longitude, I have here in
front, the lines of latitude and longitude
because this time we are going to locate
places using coordinates.
I have a scenario then you’re going to
point here in the map which place does
the coordinates points to.
Here’s the scenario you are an
investigator and you were told to
investigate in this coordinates: 20
degrees latitude and 15 degrees
longitude. Now locate it on the map
Mark.
Very good!
Another scenario: you were born a
pirate but a good pirate and you are the
protector of the seas because the sea is
your treasure and you wanted to protect
it from bad people. You received a
report that there is a poacher collecting
endangered species of turtles in this
coordinates 35 degrees latitude and 40
degrees longitude. Locate it on the map
anna.

Now this time were going to use
directions. Here’s the scenario:
tomorrow is February 14, 2025 and its
been seven years since you last saw
your crush and then a few minutes from
now you received a call with an
unknown number and you had a
strange feeling while answering the call,
knowing it was your crush and he
invited you to go to his birthday and he
gave you this coordinates 28 degrees
North, 6 degrees West. Locate it Mary.
Very good!
Now that you already know what is
latitude and longitude and you know
how to locate places with directions
using coordinates this time, we will have
an activity and were going to use a
(Mark gets the marker and points the
coordinate given to the map.)
(Anna gets the marker and points the
coordinate given to the map.)
(Mary gets the marker and points the
location of the given coordinates.)
Yes sir! We are ready
bigger map, which is the world map. Are
you ready?
Very good!
Activity: the teacher groups the students
into 4-5 groups and each group will be
given a map, illustration board and a
chalk. The teacher will give coordinates
and the students will find it on the map
given to them and write it on the
illustration board. They will be given 20
seconds to answer each question.
Rubrics will be shown before starting
the activity.

haven’t been before what are you going
to do and what are you going to prepare
before going to the place?

Class what did you learned from our
lesson today?
What is the difference between latitude
and longitude?
What are we going to use to locate
places on the map?
What are the four directions that are
present in locating coordinates?
(Materials: World Map, illustration
board, and chalk)
Sir we learned the importance of
latitude and longitude because it is a
way to help us know more about the
geography of a place which is known or
unknown to us.
Sir latitude, this is imaginary lines that
circle the Earth and is parallel to the
equator while the line of longitude goes
up and down. They are through the
North Pole and South pole and the zero
degrees line of longitude is called the
prime meridian while the zero degrees
line of latitude is called the equator.
Sir were going to use coordinates to
locate places on the map.

Sir latitude goes first then longitude.

Latitude- is the measurement of a part of the Earth in relation to the north or south of the Earth’s equator. 2. Longitude- angular distance east or west on the earth’s surface, measured by the angle contained between the meridian of a particular place and some prime meridian.

Latitude are parallel to the equator and to each other. They do not meet and they form circles that are smaller at the poles. Coordinate system- is a method for identifying the location of a point on the earth. We don’t know sir. Yes sir! Latitude and Longitude sir Yes sir. Sir latitude, this are imaginary lines that circles the Earth and is parallel to the equator. Sir the line that is zero degrees latitude is called the equator. Sir the line of longitude goes up and down. They are through the North Pole and South pole and the zero degrees line of longitude is called the prime meridian.

You may also use this knowledge in your other subjects such as A.P., Math, and etc. Now that we already know what is latitude and longitude, I have here in front, the lines of latitude and longitude because this time we are going to locate places using coordinates. I have a scenario then you’re going to point here in the map which place does the coordinates points to. Here’s the scenario you are an investigator and you were told to investigate in this coordinates: 20 degrees latitude and 15 degrees longitude. Now locate it on the map Mark. Very good! Another scenario: you were born a pirate but a good pirate and you are the protector of the seas because the sea is your treasure and you wanted to protect it from bad people. You received a report that there is a poacher collecting endangered species of turtles in this coordinates 35 degrees latitude and 40 degrees longitude. Locate it on the map anna. Very good! Now this time were going to use directions. Here’s the scenario: tomorrow is February 14, 2025 and its been seven years since you last saw your crush and then a few minutes from now you received a call with an unknown number and you had a strange feeling while answering the call, knowing it was your crush and he invited you to go to his birthday and he gave you this coordinates 28 degrees North, 6 degrees West. Locate it Mary. Very good! Now that you already know what is latitude and longitude and you know how to locate places with directions using coordinates this time, we will have an activity and were going to use a (Mark gets the marker and points the coordinate given to the map.)   • 4. bigger map, which is the world map. Are you ready? Very good! Activity: the teacher groups the students into 4-5 groups and each group will be given a map, illustration board and a chalk. The teacher will give coordinates and the students will find it on the map given to them and write it on the illustration board. They will be given 20 seconds to answer each question. Application If you are going to a place that you haven’t been before what are you going to do and what are you going to prepare before going to the place? E. (Materials: World Map, illustration board, and chalk) Sir we learned the importance of latitude and longitude because it is a way to help us know more about the geography of a place which is known or unknown to us. Sir latitude, this is imaginary lines that circle the Earth and is parallel to the equator while the line of longitude goes up and down. They are through the North Pole and South pole and the zero degrees line of longitude is called the prime meridian while the zero degrees line of latitude is called the equator. Sir were going to use coordinates to locate places on the map. Sir the four directions are north, south, east and west. Sir latitude goes first then longitude.

  • 6. RUBRIC Latitude and Longitude 3 2 1 Knowledge The group have mastered the lesson and scored perfect in the activity. The group have understand the lesson well and only got one to two (1-2) wrong answers. The group needs to study more and they have three (3) or more wrong answers. Cooperation All members from the group helped each other and showed cooperation from start to the end of the activity. All members from the group cooperated from the beginning of the activity, but some did not cooperate in the middle of the activity. Almost all of the members of the group did not cooperate in the activity from the beginning to the end. Cheer Their cheer is very good and lively and their cheer is related to the lesson.
