Responsible for building and servicing Central Division foodservice business for
bananas. Worked with local Sales Managers to develop their wholesale supply chain to
ripen and deliver bananas to end users. Developed other business channels, including C-
Stores and Drug Stores new to the “fresh” business. Created unique training and
educational presentations for customers and end users. Solved logistical and handling
problems at all levels of distribution.
2002 – 2003 Royal Coast Tropical Fruit Mt. Prospect, Illinois
Regional Sales Manager
Sold Costa Rican Pineapple throughout the Midwest for a joint venture of Maui
Pineapple Company and a group of Costa Rican growers. The joint venture was
purchased by Dole Fresh Fruit.

Sold bananas, pineapple, melons for Chicago area wholesalers and retailers. Product was
sold as delivered and FOB dock. Additional products sold were grapes, lemons, and

Marketed Idaho Burbanks and Nebraska potatoes, to chain stores and wholesalers
throughout the Midwest. Responsibilities included forecasting, sales of bagged and count
potatoes, collections, and coordinating logistics, both truck and rail shipments. Developed
customers specifically for 80-90 count Nebraska Norkotahs to maintain balanced
inventories at packing shed.
1994 – 1997 Calgene Inc. Chicago, Illinois
National Sales Manager
Calgene developed the Flavr Savr Tomato, the first genetically modified whole food
approved for sale by FDA. My responsibilities included selling premium product to
chains in the Midwest, and selling mediums, smalls and second quality to Aldi’s, small
chain stores, and ethnic wholesalers. Company was ultimately acquired by Monsanto
Company for its intellectual properties.
