SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
Leadership
• Champion of implementing Lean principles. Selected to manage and
recover a failing engineering maintenance facility. Reduced waste,
introduced process flow, developed personnel, reduced skill fade,
overhauled asset control, established relationships with critical outside
agencies, assigned responsibilities to key personnel and briefed
stakeholders on future direction of the organisation.
• Devised and implemented training programmes, due to a 20% reduction in
staff, and introduced multi-role responsibility to reduce skill fade and
highlighted further potential efficiencies across the national organisation.
• Armament Engineering Section became the RAF ‘Show home’ hosting
Military and Civilian Senior Executives for Lean ‘best practice’. Became the
blueprint for Engineering Sections across the organisation. Received
Commendation from Commander-in-Chief’s Air Command (Queens New
Years Honours List 2011).
• Implemented Lean whilst on Operations in Qatar; Introduced 6S to a 24 Hr
Operational Squadron. Received Commendation from Officer Commanding
901 Expeditionary Air Wing (2008).
• Managed 36 staff, agreeing personal objectives and aspirations. Mentored
and encouraged the highest standards of personal and professional
development; resulting in exceptional levels of quality and output.
• Managed the capture of asset data from relocation of engineering facility
and instigated configuration control of all assets.
2. Commercial Acumen and Innovation
• Managed the financial responsibility for £74m of equipment assets, including
replacement spares, maintenance equipment and role assets.
• Championed the Lean system; maintaining a quantity of serviceable assets in
both a Depth and Forward Support facility to increase efficiency.
• Created a system for controlling and managing complex engineering
components in line with calendar and usage indicators set against customer
requirements.
• Building custodian duties, responsible for maintenance and improvements of
an engineering facility.
• Implemented Continuous Improvement system including control and review.
Project Management.
• Project managed the relocation of a further engineering maintenance facility
from RAF Leuchars. Assessed risk, implemented asset control, procurement
of equipment to sustain output and reduce physical footprint, assessed staff
requirement and sourced specialised training.
• Senior Project Officer at MBDA; managing in-service contracts including
product upgrades as well as new product deliverables.
Customer Service and Communication Skills.
• Lead contributor to acceptance criteria, test and evaluation of engineering
assets for customer requirements.
• Administered annual and six-monthly assessments for 36 personnel,
including regular personal development planning.
• Awarded Commendation from Air Officer Commanding, for services to civilian
safety at RAF Coltishall (Queens Birthday Honours List 2000).
