130701 subsidiary label.
This label is mostly vertically integrated because
it carries out the processes of production,
distribution, legal and marketing themselves.
3. A limited number of staff members to help
promote and retain artists, or groom them
for success. Since independent labels are
smaller, they have more of an interest in
you as an artist and a person. So you
don’t have to compete in order to gain
attention from that particular label.
4. Production
Don’t have the money for big
productions.
Mostly record their music in their
bedroom, or homemade studios.
They release their music on Cds, Eps,
Vinyls, youtube, soundcloud, mixcloud,
itunes, grooveshark.
5. Distribution
They give out their CD’s at street, gigs.
Their distribution is limited cause they cant
sell thousands of copies f your latest
album all across as their budget is limited.
6. Marketing
They use Facebook, Twitter, Highstreet
marketing, Online sales on websites,
merch is sold at gigs and other ocassions,
hand out flyers, booked into playing at
locals pubs.
Limited promotion is another side-effect of
this lack of funding, and you are going to
have to do more legwork to get
connections to the media, the general
public, and other bands.
7. Exchange
They access artist information on the
fatcat website.
Independent audiences are smaller then
major ones.
The audiences can listen to them online
and on radios.
Their gigs tend to be free and cheap
which is completely different to the other
major concerts.
