Last night, Prince Escalus banished Romeo from the city of Verona.
Romeo, a member of the Montague family, was expelled from
Verona after murdering Tybalt, a member of the Capulet family.
Mercutio, a long time friend of Romeo Montague was also killed in
the encounter.
Witnesses say that Mercutio was goading Tybalt, before the struggle
started.
Mercutio’s last words were ‘a plague to both your houses’, possibly
referring to the Capulet vs. Montague feud that has encapsulated
the city.
