This document reviews industrial applications of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). It discusses how LIBS has been used in the steel, coal, and waste recycling industries. In the coal industry, LIBS has been used to determine ash content and calorific value of coal online at power plants. Several challenges exist due to coal sample inhomogeneity and changing focus distances. The document also reviews applications of LIBS in the nuclear industry for analyzing nuclear materials and waste. Overall, while many "proofs of principle" exist, few real industrial implementations of LIBS have been reported, indicating more work is needed for widespread industrial adoption.
