A site visit was done by our group as a part of the Construction studio task. We discovered a park where this bamboo structure was made. A detailed study about the structure was carried out by us.
6. ENTRANCE , PLINTH AND THE FOOTINGS
THE FLOOR IS RAISED BY
300 MM ABOVE THE
GROUND LEVEL , USING
BRICKS, CONCRETE
BLOCKS TO DEFINE PLINTH
PERIMETER. IT IS FILLED
WITH COMPACTED EARTH.
ENTRANCE HAS A
SLOPE
OF 10 DEGREE
ALONG WITH
BAMBOO RAILINGS
MAKING IT BARRIER
FREE
11. CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES
PREFABRICATION
Bamboo columns or
beams need to have
a node at both ends.
If not the pressure of
a structure on the
joint may crush the
bamboo.
When connecting
bamboo poles
with bolts, make sure
to bolt them together
in between 2 nodes,
otherwise the
bamboo may crush.
When using
bamboo as a
column make sure
that the lower part
connecting with the
surface ends with a
node. If not, the
bamboo will splinter
when struck
All structural members like columns,
beams , trusses , purlins are pre-
fabricated.
