PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Assistant Default Recovery Manager,
New Milimani Sacco.
January 2016-to date:
Duties and responsibilities
 Respond to routine queries arising from debtors via face to face contact and by letter,
email and telephone including the determination of appropriate installment recovery
arrangements with individual debtors and the setting up of those installment plans.
 Monitor debtor payment agreements and take the necessary action when agreements
have lapsed.
 Contact debtors directly by telephone to pursue debt recovery where standard
recovery letters have been unsuccessful in obtaining payment.
 Identify and issue unpaid debts to collection agencies in line with the Auctioneer’s Act
and liaise with collection agencies on the progress of debts referred to them.
 Where necessary, carry out any appropriate check to determine any reason for non-
payment which should be considered before recovery action is pursued.
 Ensure that all recovery procedures have been followed in line with the Sacco’s Debt
Recovery Procedure to enable a debt to be referred to Legal for further recovery action.
 Provide assistance and training to staff throughout the Sacco on matters loan
processing and recovery
 Review the daily ‘unallocated ‘payments schedules to ensure that all payments are
allocated to the intended debt.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 Ensuring that all defaulters of loans are accounted for.
 Responsible for the day to day maintenance of debtors Schedule
 Perform debtors account reconciliations and analyses to support the accuracy of the
general ledger and related sub-ledgers.
 Reduce the number of Members Accounts in Default as well as the value of debts due
from defaulters in the allocated portfolio.
 Co-ordinates and controls the application of accounting, credit control and debt
collection policies and procedures by attending to the verification, reporting, processing
and reconciliation of account receivable transactions to support analysis, identification
and recovery of overdue debts accounts, processing sequences of communicating

information to promote understanding and corporation from customers on payment for
services.
 Re-negotiating repayment plans if people are in financial difficulties
 Tracing missing debtors
 Arranging for goods to be repossessed to cover outstanding debt
 Setting up and maintaining customers files
 Using specialist computer databases to check credit records
 Contacting individuals or business customers when payment is overdue asking them to
settle their accounts and explaining the terms of their credit
 Liaising with solicitors, legal officers and debt counselors where necessary
