2. Last week we started our Irn-Bru adver-game animations. I was making an 8 bit animation to show how
the game would work if it was a real game. First I made an 80 by 120 pixel screen to draw my game onto.
I’d never done any 8 bit art before so I learnt how to make back grounds in 8 bit and the different
characters. I also learnt how to make things look as though they are moving by drawing the different
positions on a new layer and then making it flip through the frames at 0.2 seconds to make it look like it’s
moving, for example the river on my background flowing. I also compared my work to other people’s in
my group to get ideas and see how we had each adapted the 30 second advert into an adver-game. For
my game the player must press the button to land the line in the green to shoot the other can before it
shoots your character. For my game I had to make a button to go on screen and I had to learn how to
make the button appear as if it had been pressed in, I did this by adding a drop shadow on the red button
when it is out and for the green button when it is pressed in there was no drop shadow and I put the
button a few pixels lower to give the effect of it being pressed in. When they land the line in the green
there is no visual punishment and everything in screen stays still but if they press the button in the red or
orange the bar shacks for a visual punishment. At first I didn’t know I had to add a visual punishment but
my teacher gave me this idea and is something I have learnt this week.
