Drive design and implementation of complex network systems on contract for Ridgewells Caterers, leading area catering service whose key
clientele includes The White House, the State Department, military & governmental agencies, Fortune 500 corporations, educational
institutions, embassies, the Washington Redskins football organization, the NFL, and the US Golf Association. Manage Ridgewells Caterer’s
corporate network, and single handedly ensured 24/7 up-time availability across its 15-server, 12-location, 150-user enterprise network that
supports up to 1,000 events per month. Supply firewalled remote access to system for use at Arena Stage, Strathmore, and private schools.
Key Projects:
 Microsoft Azure Lift and Shift Migration: Migrated existing On-Prem Servers to Azure. Upgraded Server 2008 to Server 2012r2 AD
DS including functional level. Utilized PowerShell Azure to configure instances, virtual networks, and server parameters. Created back-
up vault and utilized back-up agents to schedule backup plan. Established point-to-site VPN and site-to-site VPN to synchronize Private
to Public Cloud. Upgraded the Windows 2008 and 2008r Servers to Windows 2012rw. Using P2V utilities. Used AzImportExport and
Bitlocker, after converting the VHD's to fixed size to copy the files onto 2TB Hard Disks and sent them to Azure Datacenter. Also used
AZCopy for smaller workloads. Created several vNets with multiple Subnets to microsegment traffic, configured Cloud Services for
public access to RDS Server Farm, Backup Vaults, Site to Site VPN, Storage Accounts, VM's to recreate the Enterprise Network
completely in the cloud. The system was comprised of Domain Controllers, Member Servers, RDS Servers, IIS Servers, SQL Servers,
AD CS Server. Create Availability Sets to provide Fault and Update Domains, Managed multiple instances of Servers, Backup Vaults
(used for Server and On-Prem Workstation Backups via Agents, Used PowerShell to bring up and tear down Topology. Managed using
the Azure Pack and System Center VMM and CM.
 Azure Remote App Farm: Multiple Gold Disks and Applications. Deployed HR System, Catering LOB System, PO System, Accounting
System, Domain Joined the Remote App PaaS to our Domain which was in Azure and Synced with a Site to Site VPN with Domain
Controllers On-Prem, Several Apps then used SQL Azure via a Connection String to provide SQL Database Services and easy Portal
Administration of the Databases.

 Azure Test/Dev Environment: Used Azure Resource Manager to Deploy a Dev/Test environment, provided a Slot based Web
development lab. Used Tags and JSON Templates to manage and deploy different server configurations and environments. 3 tier
applications. Created users and groups within Azure AD and managed access using Role Based Access Control. Then used Deployment
slots to move development between dev,test,prod. System also utilized the Azure Key Vault facility to keep application secrets and
certificates.
 Ridgewells Phone System Upgrade: Initiated migration to VOIP phone system to replace unreliable, costly existing system; analyzed
business requirements, evaluated vendor bids, selected Broadsoft, and coordinated installation of 10Mb finger internet connection
from Verizon. Trained staff on new system that boosted productivity 50% and reduced downtime 100%.
 Cloud Exchange & VMWare Migrations: Migrated 85 users with up to 30,000 messages each from Microsoft Exchange 5.5 to Office
365 without any issues. Drove successful migration of RDP Servers, Domain Controller, and Microsoft SQL 2008 Server to VMWare,
which allowed for easier scalability and better fault tolerance.
 Office 365 Migration: Migrated an Exchange 5.5 Server with 85 users and 25 groups to Office 365 smoothly without a single lost
email. Because the Exchange Server was so old, I could not use conventional tools available to migrate within Office 365. Instead, I
utilized a website called Migrationwizard.com from BitTitan. I setup all the new accounts and created scripts to migrate and evaluate
the progress. I was able to do a staged migration by forwarding a user’s mail to the new system and had authorized the domain on
the Office 365 site. This allowed migrated users to get all their mail and yet reply with the actually companies domain name. The last
group of users, Sales, proved the most difficult. Some users has over 15,000 messages. I created all the groups, shared calendars,
aliases, etc. Once complete, I switched the DNS MX record and mail flow moved to Office 365.
 Enterprise Upgrade: Migrated from Server 2008 and 2008r2 to 2012r2. Installed a Scale Out File Server (SOFS) Storage Fabric within
a Failover Cluster, utilizing Storage Pools and localized SAN. This was also housed 2 Domain Controllers, DNS and DHCP all with
Failover. Then deployed a Clustered Hyper V Farm with 3 nodes. Services included SQL Server, IIS, RDS with Gateway and Broker, AD
to AAD sync.
 Washington Redskins: Designed command center and sales office network connected across stadium using fiber optic cables and T1
line for internet access; configured network to support pre-game orders for 400+ suites and check-in for 300+ staff. Created fully
redundant server system to avoid costly downtimes. Administered and supported system from 1999-2008.
 Super Bowl XXXIX: Established LAN network for use during 2005 Super Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida; coordinated shipments of
printers, workstations, and servers for week-long preparation.
 US Open Golf Tournaments: Built complex networks to support onsite food services, sales, and staffing for major golfing tournaments
from 2001-2015. Enabled access to email, databases, documents, phone, copier, and fax. Used redundant cabling, onsite Internet,
public Wi-Fi, private Wi-Fi, and cellular networks to provide Cloud environment. Relocated several servers to VMWare portal;
migrated existing server using P2V utilities and VMWare OVF tools.
 US House of Representatives: Created network to manage all catered events for US House of Representatives; provided 3 wall-
mounted payroll kiosks and secure connection to paycom website via Chromebook. Used copper-to-fiber converters to connect office
locations that were spread out across 4 floors.
 Kemper Open and AT&T National Golf Tournament: Developed staff check-in system for 450+ staff members working at 6-day golf
tournament. Set-up onsite system comprising generator, laptops, and barcode scanner that reduced check-in time from 1 minute
down to 20 seconds.
 POS at Arena Stage: Set-up network to provide efficient method for fulfilling intermission snack orders; enabled attendee pre-
ordering using IPAD kiosks for quick pick-ups using tickets; engaged wireless printers at snack bars that enabled staff to stage orders
in advance of intermission, which reduced wait times from 10 to 2 minutes and boosted overall sales.
