What is… Effecting other people with words… Helping people to see… 	Words can be like a lamp for your feet so you can see where to walk and like a light for your pathway so you can see which way to go…
Importance of… I see that everywhere among the race of men, it is the tongue that wins not the deed… Sophocles 85% of man success depends on communication and relation building skills… Bryan Tracy 75% of our active time is communication! Even if you are programmer 
The power of… Words can change attitude, relation and action of the man… I love you… I hate you… I am sorry… I have no regret… Stop! Be careful!
Language is not mathematics… The meaning of the word depends on: Context – “It was a big error…” Culture – “20 minutes; 200 meters…” Attitude – “I am listening…”  Understanding (knowledge) – Idiom “Going Dutch…”
Communication is learned skill! You can study it! You can become better in it! Going out of your comfort zone… Trying… Correcting… Repeating…
3 parts of conversation (Aristotle) Ethos – character of a person What you are shouts at me so loudly I cannot hear a word  you say… Emerson Pathos – connecting with emotion Logos – factual content
The numbers… Words – responsible for 7% of the receiving power Tone of voice – responsible for 38% of the receiving power Body language – responsible for 55% of the receiving power Be very clear in your written communication If communication via e-mail does not work  – call!  Describe your feeling if you want to carry the message across The most dominant message is when all 3 are in sync! People believe in dominant message.

Learn with whom you talk! Relators – indirect and people oriented; sensitive, quite, not expressive… Live motto: Let’s go along, let’s all be friend! Analyzer – indirect and task oriented; not concern about the people but about the job. Live motto: Let’s be accurate! Director – direct and task oriented; bottom line, inpatient, quick decision maker. Live motto: Let’s get results! Socializer – direct and people oriented; expressive, outgoing. Live motto: Achievement!
Remember about differences There are no good or bad stiles! What is important? 75% of the people is different then you are! You can act accordingly to the style of person you communicate with. If you communicate with more people – try to use different format of the message for different styles. The most ideal partner for conversation is direct opposite style! Nature demand balance in temperament.
Being in control… Person that ask questions control the conversation! Ask good questions and listen carefully to the answers… Be active listener… Be there! Seek first to understand then to be understood… Pause before replaying…
Understanding… Ask clarifying questions; how do you mean? As many as you need to be sure you’ve got it! Paraphrased message in your own words; make me sure that I understood you correctly… (your “translation”)  Be very particular about agreements; you mean tomorrow before 12:00?
Tips for better communication Have something good to say… Be interested in people, culture, business, sport, politicsand life! Care about your audience! Be prepared! Say it well… Be sincere! Use different approaches to deliver the same message. Be brief and have your style. Learn your words (vocabulary)
Tips for better communication 2 Read your audience… What you see – body language What you hear – questions, answers Pick up emotional signals Based on reading – decide how to follow up… Manage intensity… Use the right emotional intensity by the right situation! The art of communication = well chosen words with well measured emotions!
Tips for better communication 3 Identify with the audience… Build bridge between you and audience! Based on own experience Based on other people experience Attack the problem without attacking the person… I love you but I hate what you have done!
