The document provides instruction on rounding decimal numbers to the nearest whole number or tenths. It explains that to round to the nearest whole number, you look at the tenths digit and round up if it is 5 or greater, rounding down if it is 4 or less. To round to the nearest tenths, you look at the hundredths digit and use the same rule. Examples are provided of rounding various decimal numbers according to these rules. The document also covers comparing and arranging decimal numbers from greatest to least.

53. Rounding Decimal Numbers to the nearest Whole
Number
1) We look at the number we want to round.
2) As we are rounding our number to the
nearest whole, we mark the digit in the
one's place.
3) Now we look at the ‘tenths’ place (the
digit to the right of the decimal point).
54. Rounding Decimal Numbers to the nearest Whole
Number
4) If the digit in the tenths column is 0, 1, 2, 3
or 4, we will round down the number at the
ones place to the nearest whole number.
If the digit in the tenths column is 5, 6, 7, 8
or 9, we will round up the number at the
one's place to the nearest whole number.
5) Rewrite the number and replace all digits
to the right of the given place with zeros.
55. Rounding Decimal Numbers to the nearest Tenths
1) We look at the number we want to round.
2) As we are rounding our number to the
nearest tenths, we mark the digit in the
tenths place.
3) Now we look at the ‘hundredths’ place
(the digit to the right of the tenths column).
56. Rounding Decimal Numbers to the nearest Tenths
4) If the digit in the hundredths place is 0, 1, 2,
3 or 4, we will round down the number at the
ones place to the nearest whole number.
If the digit in the hundredths place is 5, 6, 7,
8 or 9, we will round up the number at the
one's place to the nearest whole number.
5) Rewrite the number and replace all digits
to the right of the given place with zeros.
