For Instances;
One of the most and major productlikeOPAQUE-621with well properties demanded by a paintindustries found
failingin someof the properties likePH, Opacity.When we started delvingreason behind itand the most of
product opacity was below the par due to number of operation pitfallsincludingvery slightor even minute delay
duringprocess operation,some of the rawmaterial with very fraction of off-specification in shelf-lifeas well as the
inability of reactor material of construction after every consecutivebatches due to improper or lackingof wiping
out and cleaningof reactor MOC as PH of previous batches had been found getting added into next one.
(Opacity: Opacity is the property required for paintas additives for better viscosity and thickness and itshould not
be a transparentas well as dull as this isa very important whilepaintapplication.)
Ironing Out off-specification Opacity:
The most probablereasons were found and issuewas resolved with followingcrux or points as,
1) Followingthe process parameters from very firstand initial stageof batch as per checklistformed by our
team.
2) The reaction was to go in three stages includingaddingquality rawmaterial i nitiatingwith initiator and
acceleratingwith some additives called propagator and the final breakingthe reaction with every checks
at every smaller stages with proper controllingcoolingand strippingor heating.
6. 3) Thoroughly wipingout or cleaningof main kettles or reactors and ensure the PH and clarity of de-
mineralized water required for next batches after givingsome short boil and ensure of PH is neutral of
boiled water atroom temperature.
4) Coolingand heating with proper backup without fail during reaction stagewith proper attention.
5) Ensuringthe holdingtime after completion of reaction is maintained properly without delay and packing
of the material once all quality checks arewithin specification withoutany further delay with precaution.
Conclusion:
What has been annotated above points is eventually really conferred with perfect and lifetime solution for
Opacity as a reward for us to bringthe product again for paintindustry as a market leader.
