song.
6. Sa Libis ng Nayon – it is written by Santiago S. Suarez and popularized by
Filipina singer and “Queen of Kundiman” Sylvia la Torre. This song describes
beauty, joy and satisfaction of life in the countryside.
7. Sa Ugoy ng Duyan – another collaboration from Lucio San Pedro and Lwvi
Celerio. This is a haunting and nostalgic lullaby expressing the feelings of a child
tranquil security in the arms of a loving mother.
4. 1. Bandurria – is a small instrument similar to the Spanish guitar.
2. Guitar – is a stringed instrument that belongs to lute family and is either plucked or
strummed. It has frets a long the fingerboard with six strings, a wooden resonating
chamber with curved inwards and a flat back.
3. Harp – is a stringed instrument believed to have been brought in the Philippines during
the 16 century. It has a turning system in octaves based on a seven note diatonic scale.
4. Laud – is a pearl-shaped instrument similar to the Bandurria.
5. Mandolin – is a plunged stringed instrument of Italian origin. It has a peer-shaped body,
and a flat belly and back , the sound hole is usually oblong-shaped.
6. Octavina – is a musical instrument smaller than the guitar . It has six sets of double
strings and played with a plectrum.

instrument indispensable to most composers and music enthusiasts.
8. Violin – is a bowed instrument believed to have been brought into the country by
Catholic missionaries.
9. Drum – is a musical instrument whose both ends are covered with animal. The drum
is played using a padded mallet to sound the instrument.
10. Horn – is a wind instrument classified under trumpets. The instrument is blown
through a hole pierced through the shell.
11. Organ – is a wind instrument whose tones are produced by air passing through a set
of pipes of different lengths.
