2. I used bold headings to attract my audience as I would need to
attract their attention. This is because it gave my main title a much
more vibrant look.
I decided to use ‘font space’ in order to obtain fonts that were
indie styled, which I used in my magazine. This is so that I could
make my magazine look more authentic because indie fonts are
generally used by real indie bands. This would attract my target
audience because they would be accustomed to indie styled fonts
and may find the generic fonts of mainstream magazines off
putting.
3. I also thought to attract my target audience through the use of colour. I did this by
adding bright colours to specific places so that the contrast with dull colours would
attract my target audience to it. This is because I felt it would be quite eye-catching
to contrast red with black and yellow with white as it would be more attractive to
my target audience.
In order to specifically attract my indie target audience I used the 3 traditional
colours for an indie magazine, which are red, black and white. This is so that my
target audience knows that my magazine is an indie magazine and would therefore
be more likely to be interested in buying it given that they are familiar with the
colour scheme. However, I also used the colour yellow in my magazine so that I
could show the explorer/reformer attitude of indie music. This would attract my
core demographic given that they may have similar ideological beliefs to me.
4. I felt that the clothes I used for my indie band were pretty
much the same as the clothes worn by many indie bands that I
have researched. This is essential in attracting my target
audience as they would be instantly able to recognise my
indie music magazine.
5. I also wrote in a somewhat informal style in order to attract
my target audience. This is because I felt that my target
audience would find a friendlier ‘chatty’ writing style more
attractive than a distant formal tone. This is because my
target audience are relatively young people who I doubt would
enjoy a more formal tone. On the other hand I also wanted my
target audience to take my magazine seriously so I could not
make my magazine to ‘chatty’ as this may have led to my
target audience not respecting my magazine.
6. I also made sure that my front cover way laid out in a simple
way, which I felt looked professional because it was a lot
cleaner and more well organised. I felt this would
I used a table to structure my the contents page of my
magazine so that it looks a lot cleaner and more well
organised. This is, of course so that I could attract my target
audience as I want my target audience to take my magazine
seriously enough to want to read it.
7. I felt that my use of tour dates for music would attract my
target audience as it would allow them to easily check up on
the dates of tours without having to look through a lot my
magazine. This will ensure that my target audience can easily
find out about upcoming tours without going through my
entire magazine.
My use of non mainstream advertisements (adverisment that
are to do with music) on my contents page would attract my
target audience because I felt that it would give my readers
value for money as they are only gave them what they want to
see.
