– macOS

– iOS
• It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and
a macro programming language
• Excel is recognized as the industry standard for
spreadsheets.
• Distributed as a part of the Microsoft Office suite.

Access Toolbar and the
Ribbon
• Customizing the quick access tool bar can be
done by performing a right click on the item.
• This enables fast access and allows us to
concentrate more on the spreadsheet.
• The ribbon also improves user friendliness.
• We shall learn followings;
– Adding items to the ribbon
– Deleting items from ribbon
– Adding a custom tab in to ribbon
– Items specific for particular excel sheet
– Universal settings

• Grouping helps us to organize data and improves
traversing and visibility.
• Sometimes pre-sorting might be needed before
grouping.
• We will discuss how followings are done;
– Group data prior sorting
– Hide/ unhide sections
– Group data after sorting

– Subtotal menu
• These operations can be found in DATA ribbon tab.

• Remove duplicates using Remove

• Cell references in Excel are very important.
• A cell reference or cell address is a
combination of a column letter and a row
number that identifies a cell on a worksheet.
• For example, A1 refers to the cell at the
intersection of column A and row 1.
