1. Guns Control Gun Control
In addition, with previous facts, statistics, opinions, etc. it cannot be denied that guns keep people that have them safe. Bad things happen, and bad
people are out there using guns incorrectly, but if someone had to choose between having a gun to defend themselves in a situation that called for it and
not having one...well, one would presume the choice to have a gun would have been chosen. Why? Because that person knows that if they had a gun
they would have a better chance at survival. From the article "Guns Protect People" criminologist Gary Kleck reports that people who own guns are
reported using their guns 2.5 million times per year to fight off an attack. He reported that once every 13 seconds someone was using their gun to
keep themselves safe (Harris Para. 6). It only makes sense that one thing that would deter a criminal is that someone they are trying to hurt will have a
gun. Even the notion that someone has a gun could ward of someone unwanted, because no one really wants to take the chance of someone shooting
them in defense. Knowing that is sometimes what helps people get to sleep at night. Clair Schwan, the editor of the Libertarian Logic Web site, states
that "Prohibition of concealed carry is a prohibition of choice, and a prohibition of selfâdefense. Both of those prohibitions are wrong." (Para. 4).
Something put so simply but has such a deep meaning to the fight that is currently going on today. Guns keep people safe and taking away those guns is

Introduction
In America guns have been a part of the country's society since it's birth. Throughout history the citizens of the US have used firearms to protect the
nation, protect their families, hunt for food and engage in sporting activities. The issue of Guns and gun control is complex. Weighing the rights and
liberties of the individual against the welfare and safety of the public has always been a precarious balancing act. In the United States, gun control is
one of these tumultuous issues that has both sides firmly entrenched in their positions. Those parties in favor of gun ownership and the freedom to use
and keep arms, rely on the fact that the provision for such rights is enshrined in their constitution. In this climate of...show more content...
The exact number of gun owners in America is unknown. There are approximately 44 million firearms owners in the US, according to a National
Institute of Justice survey conducted in 1994. Looking at firearm production data from 2010, various gun manufactures state the figure is as high as
300 million people. (Agresti and Smith, justfacts.com, 02/12/12). Regardless of the precise number of guns in America they are an everyday reality.
For the gun enthusiast there are a number of activities which in some families, have taken on an almost religious reverence. Hunting is engaged in by

4. An Informative Essay on Gun Control
Due date Informative Essay on Gun Control Introduction The right to possess guns is a fundamental element to American identity. The right to own
and operate guns under certain circumstances is in fact guaranteed as part of the United States Constitution. Over the course of American history and
particularly in the 21st century, there exists a great debate over the possession of guns of private citizens. Both sides of the debate argue with fervor.
There are those that argue fervently for the right to possess arms; they argue for guns with regard to home protection, property protection, personal
security, and that it is a fundamental right as a citizen. On the other side, there are those that reference the persistence of accidental injuries and
fatalities that are gun related. People on this side of the debate argue for the banishment of guns, for stricter gun control laws, and for restrictions on
certain kinds of high caliber guns and ammunition. They argue for the safety of the general population and for the lack of responsibility of those in
possession of guns. They additionally reference the excessive amount of gun violence in media such as music, films, animation, and video games
trying providing moderate to exceptional evidence that access to excessive violent imagery in conjunction with what they view as slack gun control
policies is an equation for tragedies that society is unprepared to handle and should not have to. Each side of the gun control debate has

Gang members and drug dealers are the main problem. It would be ridiculous to say that only because people own guns that they are going to go

Begum, Lucy Howard and Susannah Meadows??if people are not allowed to bear arms, then they will definitely buy them in illegal ways?(9) Not
only criminals but ordinary people should be able to own a gun. Thinking about my own life I would definitely feel safer if I knew there was a gun in

If gun control were put into practice would that end the debates? I seriously doubt it. People have different points of view on this subject. I believe
that by making this issue so controversial is only making it worse. Arguing about gun control does not solve the main problem, which is the lack of
values and morals in society.

Gun Control
Introduction
Gun control has been a debatable issue for all times. This essay aims to put forward an argument against gun control. The essay asserts that prevalence
of gun control should not be a part of the society. Society should be against gun control because people should be able to protect themselves, the crime
rate would decrease, and people have the right to bear arms.
Discussion
The controversy regarding the gun control is neither a new one nor particular to United States. Majority of the gun control laws make no demarcation
between the citizens who are law breakers and those who are law abiding. Gun control laws simply entail that anyone...show more content...
Criminals are provoked by selfâprotection and guns can thus be a disincentive. A majority of convicted American criminals have reported that they
fear from attacking the victims who are armed. Their fear of encountering armed victims surpasses their fear of being caught by police (Lott, pp.05).
Robbers do not attempt to break into houses after midnight because of the probability of being shot. Thus, society should be against gun control
because crimes will decrease.
Keeping guns and using them for self defense is a right of the citizens as laid by the constitution. The constitution wants its citizens to possess guns in
order to protect and defend themselves from the criminals or the despotism of their own government. Other than the constitutional right, self defense by
keeping guns is also an inherent basic human right of the people (Reynolds & Caruth, pp.27â29). Therefore, society should be against gun control as
people have a right to bear arms.
Conclusion
Most of the criminals acquire guns from illegal sources. Gun control laws; therefore, are not able to restrict criminals. They only restrain law abiding
8. citizens from possessing guns which increases the crime violence; therefore, society should be against gun control because people should be able to
protect themselves, the crime rate would decrease, and people have the right to bear arms.

Gun Control
Gun control has been a hot topic for very long time. People on the antiâgun control side believe that gun ownership is a Constitutional right backed by
the Second Amendment. The antiâgun believes that you should be able to posses and own any firearm. They also believe that gun laws only restrict the
law abiding citizens. Proâgun control believes that guns are the backbone to our crime problem. They also believe that gun laws help keep guns of the
street and deter crime.
The Second Amendment reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear
arms, shall not be infringed" (Caplan). "Underlying this amendment are two goals of an individual and collective defense from violence and
aggression, which have been recognized by Congress" (Caplan). The second amendment should help secure right of the people to have a gun in their
home. "The government should not be permitted to declare who would or would not be able to bear arms on the basis of vague religious tests or any
other nebulous standard or artifice" (Caplan).
The first infringement on the Second Amendment came on November 30, 1993 when President Clinton signed Brady Bill I. The law required that
there be a five day waiting period on all handgun purchases. The Brady Bill also banned semiâautomatic rifles and other military type weapons. The
five day waiting period is supposed to stop felons from buying guns. But, Waiting periods do not stop felons from getting guns. Since 1968 it has
been illegal for a felon to possess any firearm. Most of the criminals do not get their guns from stores, most get them by theft or on the black market.
"While legitimate users of firearms encounter intense regulation, scrutiny, and bureaucratic control, illicit markets easily adapt to whatever difficulties
a free society throws in their way" (Polsby). A study by Professor James D. Wright and Peter H. Rossi, showed that, "fifty percent of criminals
expected to get a gun illegally the same day they get out of prison." (Blackman Aug 1985)

Views on Gun Control Gun control is one of the few things in today's society that is a major problem and that is extremely prevalent in the United
States. This phenomenon has been a controversy for decades that is still highly debated today. One of the reasons why this topic is so important is
because of how dangerous firearms can be towards others or even yourself. Just in the past couple of years there has been multiple incidents involving
firearms and death. For example, the shootings at Sandy Hook elementary school and Aurora, Colorado shook the Nation as a whole. In addition, many
authors argue whether or not they are for gun control for obvious reasons, but what they do not talk about is religious reasons. The biggest argument

shootings." In his paper he is extremely thorough about gun control, more specifically what is causing the problem and how to fix it. In addition, Fritz
stresses that the services and precautions taken to increase gun control are not enough to be effective.
The final gun control supporter Aditi Verma, a journalist for bioethics journal claims that Untied States needs more gun control enforcement. Verma
expressed her thoughts with her paper titled "Gun Control and Mental Illness." She takes on the stance that if people want something done then they
have to invest their time and money into what they are doing. For example, if she wants to crack down on the gun control and mental illness issue
then she is going to have to do research and spend valuable resources.
Of course when there is an issue there is always more than one side. In this case, we have John R. Lott Jr. a nonâsupporter of gun control. Lott Jr. is

The reason I decide to choose a topic on Gun control was that it had some intriguing viewpoints, such as different point of views and some

I would then say since we have this law in place no kid would have easy access because it would all be locked up.
The result of Gun control is that laws put in place in this article and one that is connected to gun control help the violence of guns lessen and also
keep people who are not authorized to carry one, not carry firearms. No doubt, sources such as the National Rifle Association have said, "That it isn't the
firearm who kills people or does damage, but it's the person behind the gun." In my belief, gun control has been slightly mandated because due to
the results of gun control, it has majorly been enforced by having those who are accused of firearm charges have longer jail sentences. For example,
"The number of inmates in federal prison on firearm or arson charges (the two are counted together) increased 51 percent from 1993 to 1998, to a total
of 8,979"(Control). That's why my reasoning was aimed in a particular way.
The purpose of gun control in this article is emphasizing that gun should be outlawed because it is detrimental to a person's to a person wellâbeing,
such as reduce crime on individual and also crimes happening in today's time is by gun violence; moreover, the different massacres are by guns. The
reason is that the person who is operating that machinery, are mentally ill, so the best way eliminate massacre is when we someone who is not having

Thesis Statement: Gun control decreases crime. If gun control is regulated, then we will have less crime. Access to firearms makes killing easy,

14. Gun Control Mechanism
Introduction
In America, one of the major challenges for security agencies is to have Gun control. Several innocent people's lives have been taken by this weapon
and led to great moaning in the U.S. Likewise, different people have been left immobilized due to increase gun violence & crime. In the United
States, these types of challenge are arising because of issuing & providing possession of unlicensed guns. For the aim of reducing crime rates due to
gun, governments must make strict balance on gun distribution, as well as illegalize its ownership without any exception to any conditions (DeConde,
2003).
Therefore, gun violence is explained as the utilization of firearms to produce harm. Moreover, this term signifies the general guns misuse, so broadly,
it can be described as a violence and crime class committed with the help of firearms which might not cover selfâdefense actions, practices for law
enforcement, sports along with hunting others (DeConde, 2003).
Further includes careful use of weapons to murder, produce injury or threaten people. Among children and adolescents, it is common who wind up
providing trouble to them along with the public. The positioning of this paper is "Gun control."

The phrase "Gun Control" means different things to different people. One bumper sticker states that "Gun Control means hitting your target."
However one defines gun control, the mere mention of it brings controversy. Opposing sides have for years fought over the laws that govern firearms.
For the purposes of this paper "Gun Control" is defined as policies enacted by the government that limit the legal rights of gun owners to own, carry, or
use firearms, with the intent of reducing gun crimes such as murder, armed robbery, aggravated rape, and the like. So defined, gun control
understandably brings favorable responses from some, and angry objections from others.

The arguments of the antiâgun lobby are generally based on soâcalled "commonâsense" and emotional pleading, with relatively few statistics backing
up their claims. They argue that the Second Amendment to the Constitution is only giving the states the right to regulate militia activity and therefore
possess and "bear" arms (Rowland 3). Some of the more extreme antiâgun lobby advocate repealing the Second
Amendment altogether.
Since the most extreme advocates of gun control wish to ban guns regardless of the Constitution, it becomes necessary to not just examine the law of
the land, and the courts interpretation, but also the underlying philosophies of both sides of the debate. This is not to say that the issue cannot be
argued from a legal standpoint. In the past few years, as classâaction lawsuits have become more prevalent, some lawsuits have been brought against
gun manufacturers on the grounds that they produce and distribute a dangerous product. In some cases, juries decided for the plaintiffs, and thus set
precedent for more antiâgun suits. This hardly sets an actual legal precedent against the legality of guns themselves. In fact, US v. Emerson, a case

GUN CONTROL: OPPOSING VIEWPOINTS Introduction and Preliminary Research In a country where the people own more than 70 million
handguns and perhaps one million automatic rifles and assault weapons, public opinion on gun control is understandably divided. Those opposed to
gun control often cite the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution, which appears to guarantee private citizens the unrestricted right to
bear arms; less theoretical arguments include the practical need for selfâdefense in a violent society, and the prospect of political tyranny in a society
where only the government possesses weapons. Finally, the sporting rights of hunters and target shooters are said to be threatened by calls for

Although numerous advocacy groups have emerged on both sides of the issues, the battles lines are most clearly drawn between the proâgun National
Rifle Association (NRA) and the gunâcontrol groups comprised of the many associations of police officers and chiefs (POAs). The National Rifle
Association, with over 3 million members nationwide and a large office building prominently located near the Capitol building in Washington, D.C.,
has aggressively fought gun registration and control for decades, and is said to be the most powerful lobby on Capitol Hill beside the government
employees union. The NRA has been able to intimidate politicians by mounting a large singleâissue lobby at election time, but President Clinton has
announced his intention to sign the Brady Bill for tightened gun control, and in March of 1993 actually dared to criticize the NRA for lobbying
against gun control efforts at the local, state and national level ("Clinton Criticizes the NRA," 1993: 155). On the opposite side of the issue is a wide
array of gun control groups, but perhaps the most significant are the police officer and police chief associations as a whole, which in the last decade
have come out solidly in favor of increased handgun and automatic weapon registration and restriction. The street war with criminals, and the increasing
incidence of mass murder, are finding America 's police

Intro:The topic of gun control has been a huge debate since the first move towards gun violence with the National Firearms Act which was passed in
1929 and is still abided by today. The issue of gun control should be solved by preventing the mentally ill from purchasing guns. Given the current
political ideology of the American government, preventing the mentally ill from obtaining guns is an unlikely solution to pass because the makeup of
the government is Republican and they believe everyone no matter what has the right to own a gun.

Throughout the United States, citizens have split opinions on whether the state or federal governments should be in charge of gun control. Ultimitley,
gun regulations are up to the state governments. The federal government sets laws and restrictions on weapons, such as what type of guns citizens are
allowed to own. On the other hand, state governments set certain restrictions for that specific state. For example, age restrictions and safety laws. Gun
control is a state issue because some states agree with preventing the mentally ill from purchasing guns. For example, just recently in Delaware, a bill
that would prohibit gun ownership to some mental health patients and criminals was introduced. But that isn't the case for all states. An example for
the federal government is after the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Jr., Robert F. Kennedy and more, President Lyndon B.

Many people die from gun related incidents every year. Thus, whether guns should be controlled or not has been a converversonl topic for many years.

People do have the the right to own guns to protect themselves. In an article entitled "Briefing: Armed and Dangerous" The Week explains that the
