3. Patent
• A patent for an invention is granted by government to the
inventor, giving the inventor the right to stop others, for a
limited period, from making, using or selling the invention
without their permission.
• In India, term of every patent granted is limited to 20 years.
• The Office of the Controller General of Patents,
Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM) generally known as
the Indian Patent Office, is responsible for granting
patents.
