To gather a further understanding of how networks promote Reality TV shows online, I researched examples to draw inspiration for own website regarding a fictitious reality TV show.
2. I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here -
ITV Website
The online homepage for the reality TV show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is located at the ITV website, which is the
network that owns and broadcasts the programme. The Website features a dark colour scheme to match the ITV logo, situated
above in the top left, and is an easy to navigate design for the casual target audience consisting of the average viewer; the
menu allows the browser to catch up with latest source material which is highlighted frontmost, view the episodes listed,
engage in the ‘Jungle Challenge’ which is a promotional event/ advertisement to book tickets; watch compiled video clips and
browse the shop for merchandise. ITV prompts the audience to sign in for free upon interacting with episodes, and offers an ad-
free service for additional cost.
3. Kitchen Nightmares – Channel 4
Website
Channel 4’s Kitchen Nightmares is featured on the Channel 4 website; The page allows the general audience to watch the
episodes listed on the page, after signing in or registering for an account. The website is optimised for all media platforms,
such as desktop and mobile devices making it digitally convergent and is displayed using icons. The page displays a brief
overview of the show to inform the audience on the concept basis, with still images of award-winning chef and lead
presenter Gordon Ramsay to match; also featured is a channel 4 logo. Audience adapted features include a genre listing
for the show as ‘lifestyle’, a rating for the audience guidance, an icon displaying streaming quality and a section for
recommendation, titled ‘People also watched’ which features related programmes based on audience analytics.
