title 'x' flying through space and entering the Earth's
atmosphere. The Logo travels through London, coinciding
with the location of which the show is based; The sequence is
fully animated with CGI. The opening title sequence has an
embedded message of the show being 'out of this world' and
the forceful meteor strike conveys the impact of the show
itself on the planet, mirroring the popularity and importance.
The low-angle shot of the x-shaped cloud looming over the
city, reflects the X-Factor literally being in the atmosphere,
having a large presence on London. The sequence is backed
instrumentally by the title theme which is grand and exciting
to fit the mood of the contest and the events on the screen.

mascot of the show and is easily identifiable with the
audience. The screen passes by example catchphrases
during the sequence which establishes the premise of the
show.
4. Example 3 โ The Chase
The Chase opening sequence features an animated
character that is a metaphorical representation of the
chasers in the show. The Chaser runs after the animated
representation of the contestant in a sequence with
quickly cuts to the next shot to add tension to the 'chase'.
The music to the opening sequence is dramatized and
grand with a connotation to military/ imperial music which
links to the domineering presence of the chaser itself and
the urgency of the situation, alluding to a time limit. The
colour theme of red is used because it is related to alert
and danger which is the main drive of the game show.
