I chose the love island website to analyse as we had he
recreated the website already. It also fits the
appropriate demographic for the tv drama I will be
making so certain parts of the website could be used in

The blog styled updates whilst the show is
going on is a good way to keep the
audience engaged with the show and
keeping them interacting with the brand.
Having it shareable on social media, by the
call to action links bellow the post, it allows
fans of the show to share with each other
and also gives promotions for the show
from the audience themselves

5. Love island
■ It is clear that the love island website is related to the tv show by the reminders of when the show is on in
the banner, and the episodes on demand. The websites has blog posts that also link to events that have
happened in the show and at times contain clips of parts of the show.
■ They attempt to keep the audience engaged by providing blog posts about certain events in the show
and having news which keeps the audience in the loop with all the gossip things that they might have
missed on the show. The blog posts also have the ability to be shared on social media allowing the
audience to send to each other and interact with each other over social media about the show.
■ The website hosts adverts on it such as the screwfix advert towards the bottom of the page. It also has
the sponsorship of uber eats as that is a sponsor of the show it is advertised in the hero image banner
that provides other key information such as when the show is on and on what channel. There are also
links to other ITV channel websites and things such as live shows at the top giving the website view other
options for content but still keeping them within the itv website

about the show
I decided to analyse the website for Hollyoaks as it has it
relates to the genre of the tv show I will be making of tv
drama aimed at around the same audience as mine. It is also
on a different channel to love island being on channel 4 so can
also show an alternative layout
7. Hollyoaks
■ The online content on the hollyoaks website is heavily based on being able to watch the show, the key
image of the website is linked to the latest episode and gives the user the chance to watch the
episode on catch up.There is also the last weeks episodes at the bottom further linking straight to the
show and giving the ability to catch up even if you have missed many episodes. The channel 4
network is also key in the branding prominently showing the channel logo making it clear that it is a
channel 4 show.
■ The Hollyoaks website provides many ways for the audience to engage with it and the show. It has a
hyperlink to a spoilers section of the website which gives the audience an alternative to watching
each episode, this allows the audience to always be up to date and takes into consideration that it
may be difficult for someone to watch every episode so can keep the audience engaged with the
show by giving an easy way to get back up to date.
■ The website mainly gives the ability to watch the show and doesn't’t do too much for the commercial
side. However there are still sponsor logos on the website such as the dominos pizza logo as that is
the shows sponsor.

I analysed the website for killing eve as it is very
different to the other websites with features such
as a website skin. It still relates the drama genre so
is still relevant to the brief. The websites design is
9. Killing Eve
■ The website for Killing eve has created strong branding by using prominent logos, key images and a
website skin. The online content gives extra content for the show such as character specific profiles. It
also has catch up linking to the show and providing an alternative to watching the show live on tv. It
also has a tv schedule feature which tells when the show will air on tv making it clear that the show is
linked to the website.
■ The website engages the audience by providing character profiles and clips, this gives the audience a
chance to get to know the characters better and become more attached to the show, being able to
watch clips as well can get the audience returning back to the website to watch shocking and eventful
clips from the show.
■ The website promotes the show by showing scheduling for the show and giving catch up
opportunities. The large bbc logo and clearly states the network and with an additional menu bar at
the top to other parts of the bbc website it encourages the user to go to other parts of the website. As
the bbc is funded by the tv license unlike other networks like channel 4 and itv there aren't any
external advertisements.
