The E4 channel, owned by Channel Four Television corporation, is a British television channel that
is free-to-air; the 'E' in the name stands for entertainment. The channel's Slogan is 'Go Guilt Free'.
Sister Channels include Channel 4, 4seven, Film4, More4, 4Music, The Box, Box Hits, Kerrang!, Kiss
and Magic.
The target audience of E4 Channel is the younger generation with the aired content primarily
aimed at the 16 – 34 age group. The aired content is mainly reality TV shows and Imports from
The US.

3. Aired Content
E4 Channel is an Entertainment channel that airs a variety of Reality TV Shows.
Most of the televised programmes are imports from countries such as the US
and Australia; There are also Homegrown British programmes televised on the
channel. Us Imports include The Big Bang Theory, RuPaul's Drag Race, Rick and
Morty, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, How I Met Your Mother, Wife Swap USA etc.
British shows include Skins, Misfits, The Inbetweeners, Shameless, Fonejacker,
Hollyoaks, Coach Trip, Celebs Go Dating, Made In Chelsea, Taskmaster and re-
runs of the Great British Bake Off.
E4 previously had aired US show Friends before it was moved to Channel 5 and
Comedy Central.

4. History and Records
Launched as a subscription channel January 18, 2001, Channel 4 proceeded to announce it would
become free-to-air December 16, 2004. E4 also launched in Republic of Ireland In June 2002, becoming
the second most popular non-terrestrial channel in Ireland. Channel 4 launched the E4 music block in
August 2005 and ended 10PM Thursday 4 June 2009 the day prior to that year's Big Brother launch. The
HD broadcast for E4 launched 14 December 2009 on Sky 1 + HD and later Virgin Media April 1. October
31, 2013, marked the refreshment of the channel and it's rebranding. E4 rebranded and changed its
logo on 27 September 2018 and partnered with Adult Swim in 2019.
The E4 Channel's most viewed and successful broadcast was when on 11 October 2010 an Episode of
the Inbetweeners gained 3.7 million viewers.
The first episode of the series Big Brother received 1 million viewers.

5. Availability
E4 is available in The 1080i HD format and standard 576i format for
SD format on separate broadcast channels. E4 also runs as a +1
channel which allows the viewer to watch programmes aired
later that they may have missed earlier. The HD channel is not
included with a standard package and since it is a premium channel,
is not available on Freeview. E4, E4 HD and E4 +1 are available on Sky
and Virgin Media as well as streaming on All 4 and live on Sky Go. E4
and E4 +1 are available on Freeview but lacks the HD broadcast
channel.
