2. Our vision
To show the morning routine of a young person who is
about to kill everyone in his school.
3. brief
Complete a 2 min introduction to a thriller film using
titles and a soundtrack.
4. Gathering ideas
• We discussed as a group of different ideas for our
thriller film, this was based upon thriller films we had
watched ourselves and things we liked in them and
didn't. We watched the opening to various thrillers
such as “memento” and slowly how they slowly built
tension.
5. Audience feedback
The audience feedback showed that people really
liked the idea of a school shooter, people said it was
something relatable to them and something that’s an
eerie topic that has not been done a lot.
People also liked the idea of a bank heist as well , they
said its was something exciting and fun to watch.
To conclude we went with the idea of the school
shooter as we thought it was easier to do with the
resources available to us.
6. FINAL IDEA
• The film opening showing the aftermath of a school shooting massacre by a pupil.
The scene starts with a conversation between two girls and a boy, the boy is very
dis engaged and we see close ups of him eating a raspberry,We then see close ups
of a person getting ready, packing a bag , However we can see through the window
in his room it is darker and at a much later time. We see him walk into school and
throughout this whole time we do not see his face. This continuously cuts between
the mundane conversations between the girls. The music is building up to make it
seem the school shooter is coming towards the classroom; these people are having
a conversation in. However there is an anti-climax and he walks into the classroom
and it is empty. There is a silhouette shot of him staring out of the window, he loads
his gun, breathes and walks out of the room. We see a shaky cam follow him to the
school hall, but stays behind the doors and when they close it cuts to black, we just
hear people screaming and various gun shots, this then goes quiet, like a really
awkward uncomfortable quiet, we then hear a weeping noise (male weeping). The
camera (on a smooth stabilizer) goes through the doors and shows children on the
floor dead with blood. We see a shot of the kid from the start crying in a small room,
and we hear footsteps coming closer. There is a shot of the school shooters feet
going towards the room. Tension is built to make it seem the shoot shooter is going
towards the boy. We see him get to the door and violently shake the handle, we see
the shot on the other side of the boy looking up towards the door, we then see the
police come in, and the camera pans down from only showing a close up of the boy
in the room to showing a wide with the same gun in this hand. The police then
arrests him and he laughs manically.
7. EXTRA RESEARCH
• In a lot of thriller films
they use a lot of shots
that last for a long
duration of time, this
can be seen in films like
“the shining”. I will be
using this technique as
it builds a lot of tension.
8. Color scheme and sound
• The film color scheme is going to be dark and cold, I
think the colors should be black, grey and a cold
blue. This color scheme can be seen is a range of
thriller films as it creates an eerie atmosphere.
• For the sound of the film I wanted a deep track that
slowly builds up tension.
9. Script analysis
The script starts
with an empty
school corridor
and very little
dialogue and
more visual, this
will make the
audience have to
piece things
together
The frequent
cut to black
build up
tension and
makes the
audience
want to figure
out what's
going on.
