2. HISTORY OF DEVELOPMENT
 It is a colonial rule that still exists in India.
 Thomas Macaulay drafted a penal code in 1837.
(Section 113)
 In 1870 after the suggestion of James Stephen
introduced in 124A IPC.
 Reason – increasing activities of Wahabi.
 Law was amended by IPC Amendment Act of
1898.
 Similar to the version of 1898’s.
