Business Technology Applications
Essential Skills for college and career success in
today’s world. Students learn the fundamentals
of current and emerging technologies. The
computer applications will include spreadsheets,
databases, word processing, graphics, and the
latest presentation software. Social media trends
are examined and cloud computing is
addressed. Each student
will be better prepared to
enter today’s competitive
workplace. College Credit:

Digital Media I & 2
This course will focus on
the effective use of emerging online content
creation tools used to create high quality
products to communicate with a variety of
audiences. Students apply design principles to
their own creative projects. Products may
include, videos, websites, podcasts, blogs, and
graphics. Please note that to keep up with
technological advances, the course tools used
for production may change. Possible College Credit:
Available through the WI Technical College Articulation
program with WITC.

Digital Design (Graphics)
For high-demand skills that will make you
marketable anywhere.
Business and Entrepreneurship
Are you interested in owning your own
business? Are you a risk taker? Do profits
motivate you? Do you want to be your own
boss? Prepare your future business plan from
start to finish including market research,
financing, site selection and layout, and
advertising. Fraud, ethics, managing your
workforce, and price strategy will be considered
in product development. Trends such as social
networking, internet marketing, and web design
will be incorporated. At the conclusion of the
course, students will present their Business Plan
to local business leaders.
Students participate in two Jr Achievement
opportunities:
1. Be Entrepreneurial curriculum focusing
on who are my customers, what is my
competitive advantage, business ethics
and product development
2. Career Success curriculum focusing on
communication, conflict skills in the
workplace and soft skills that employers
demand

Yearbook 1
Release your skills and talent—experience the
“real world” of printing and publishing while
capturing high school memories through the
electronic publishing of the yearbook. This is a
PROJECT BASED learning opportunity in which
students will attend yearbook workshops,
compete in regional and national contests, and
meet with representatives of a yearbook
publishing company. Students gain hands-on
experience in journalism, business, and
computer skills. Focus will be placed on
interviewing, copywriting, layout and design,
digital photography, graphics, sales, advertising,
accounting, and time management. Proficiency
in Adobe InDesign and PhotoShop will be
developed. In addition, students learn to create
PDF files for uploading and downloading pages
on the Internet.
Yearbook II
Take the lead!
This course is a
continuation of Yearbook I. Students enrolled in
Yearbook II will oversee the production of the
yearbook. They are expected to hold an editorial
or managerial position. These leadership skills
stay with the staff person throughout their life.
Scholarships could be available for seniors that
have been in an editorial or managerial position.
Both courses offer Possible College Credit: Available
through the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College
Articulation program.

Work at school, encouraging responsible work habits.
Each project promotes efficient use of technologies.
Work while going to school, now and after graduation.
Skills you learn help you prepare for the
ACT Working Keys assessments.
Most importantly they prepare you for the workplace.
2. Accounting I
Students will have their first experience with the
cycle of financial activities for a retail/service
business. Accounting I stresses general
principles of double-entry accounting. Students
will also study principles, analyze
business financial activities and
translate them into financial
reports for owners, managers,
and the general public. Good
math skills are NOT a
requirement.
Students use Junior Achievement
- JA Titan to compete as suppliers and sellers in
a virtual business economy.

Accounting II
Accounting II stresses
the accounting cycle
for corporations.
Students will study
payroll accounting, tax
records, sales and
cash receipts,
purchases and cash payments, plant assets and
depreciation, inventories, and notes payable and
receivable. Students will also be completing
accounting simulations for select companies as
well as learning commonly used accounting
software.

Marketing
Expand your knowledge by
experiencing a variety of
real-world projects. Learn
about the important role
marketing plays within the
overall structure of today’s
most powerful organizations. During first
semester small teams dig into basic marketing
functions: target markets, market research,
promotions, financing, pricing, and distribution;
careers in marketing; the economy and stock
market; and global business. The second
semester covers sales, promotion, advertising,
social media marketing, internet marketing
(e-marketing), packaging, and product/service
development.

Event Planning
previously Sports & Entertainment Marketing
(w/Marketing prerequisite)
Are you a sports fan? Do you love movies and
concerts? The course covers target marketing
and segmentation, sponsorships, promotions,
sponsorship proposals, and implementation, real
or virtual, of event marketing plans.
Students also learn about event
evaluation and management
techniques. Event Planning is a
dynamic course that includes
pricing, stadiums, athlete
endorsements,
sponsorships,
licensing, logos, and
more! Explore
current event
topics in our
community, work in
teams on a variety of
realistic projects, and
participate in a virtual sports
business simulation.
