The Descent Marketing
The Descent’s posters are set out in a way, which isn’t seen in the film, not a
scene but how the characters are. In the first photo the woman are dressed in
less than they are in the actual film. This raises the advertising campaign “Sex
Sells” to attract more people to come and watch the film, being in the shape of a
scull within the photo you can tell that it is also a horror, and the mix of these to
advertising ways can get a good income for the film.
In this second photo it is completely different to the first, the woman are more
dressed and look like they are prepared to do what they need to survive. The
effects on blood and cuts on their arms it really brings out the horror in which
the film put towards the audience.

Film Trailer
The trailer of The Descent starts off as something, which looks normal, a safe fun
rock climbing adventure between friends. But the music in the background
builds up the trailer to show what this film is really about.
The trailer then shows the danger the people are in, within the film but only a
brief view of it, the danger of the cave itself and the complete darkness they are
consumed in. It only seems that they are trapped and just need to find the second
exit, but with the music getting faster and more consistent it builds up to the real
horror lurking in the cave.
Near the end of the trailer the film reviles all to the people watching it. The true
danger and thrill of the film is shown and it really takes a turn to how the film
trailer starts off. It really brings in the audience to come and watch this film for
more than one reason.

Website
The website for the film at release was full of information and interesting things
about the upcoming release, but as the film has died down the site isn’t used by
many people anymore. Normally with websites for films, they would take it
down once the excitement and the time of the film is over, but The Descent’s
website is still up to this day. The site has things all about the film in pages,
trailer, synopsis, the cast, etc… All of this for people to go back and look at more
about the film. At the time of advertising and getting people interested in the
film, it did help as it offered all of these sub pages to go back and research a lot
about the back story of the film as well as getting to know the characters. It also
helped when people wanted to see the trailers to the films since YouTube wasn’t
around for another year. Entering this dark site with orange text would get
people into the film and get a spark of interest, and then viewing the trailers of
this horror film would get people to want to see the film.
