Compare and Contrast How One Particular Issue or
News is Presented Through The Different Types of
Media (print, broadcast, online)
The term media, which is the plural of
medium, refers to the communication
channels through which we disseminate
news, music, movies, education, promotional
messages and other data. It includes
physical and online newspapers and
magazines, television, radio, billboards,
telephone, the Internet, fax and billboards.
MEDIA
3 Types of
Media
Print Media
01
PRINT MEDIA
Print media is one of the oldest and basic forms of mass communication. It
refers to paper publications circulated in the form of physical editions of
books, magazines, journals and newspapers that are meant to be read.
● Newspaper- is a publication printed on
paper and issued regularly, usually once a
day or once a week. It gives information
and opinions written by journalists about
current events and news. Newspapers
usually report on a wide variety of topics
including current events, politics,
celebrity news, crimes, sports and popular
opinions.
PRINT MEDIA
● Magazines- are a type of
literature, usually taking the
form of a thin book with
large pages, that contain
articles, stories,
photographs,
advertisements and
illustrations about a certain
topic or field of research.
PRINT MEDIA
● Journal- is a scholarly
publication containing articles
written by researchers,
professors and other experts.
Journals focus on a specific
discipline or field of study and
are published regularly
throughout the year.
PRINT MEDIA
● Books- a medium for recording
information in the form of
writing or images. It is a
handwritten or printed work of
fiction or nonfiction, usually on
sheets of paper fastened or
bound together and protected by
a cover.
Broadcast Media
02
BROADCAST MEDIA
Broadcast media is defined as different media channels or broadcasters such as the
television, radio, internet, audio podcasts, video content, and others. The primary purpose
of broadcasting media is to broadcast and communicate with the public. It lets the
masses know about everything that happens around the world, as well as it is used for
entertaining people.
Types of Broadcasting Media Production
1. Radio Production
Radio is a form of audio advertising. They provide the public with pre-recorded content,
primarily including commercial topics. It conducts various programs and gives
information based on the people’s interests. It reaches a more significant number of
people, so many advertisers prefer it. However, there are two ways of advertising
products through radio.
RADIO PRODUCTION
BROADCAST MEDIA
● Spot Announcements- these are short positive comments on the product.
They are less cost-consuming.
● Sponsored programs- a program will be planned and executed with the help of
music and entertainment to detail the product. It is cost-consuming and
would be chosen mainly by big brands and products.
2. Broadcast Television
Television is the most advanced form of broadcasting media. It provides the public
with colorful visualized content with audio and motion signals. Advertisers prefer
television as their better way to reach the target audience because it plays a crucial
role in today’s world. It reaches out to many people with its unique filming ideas.

3. Advertising Films
These films are commercial films that come up with a unique concept of demonstrating their
product through video and audio content. It involves taglines and the overall description of the
product. It is very effective because people often get more attracted to the visual media, which is
why many business people go for advertising films to market their products. But, it is very
expensive as it involves big shots to advertise, and also the product owner needs to spend a
huge budget on the story and its picturization.
4. Video Advertising
Video advertising is one of the most popular ways to reach online audiences. It is a
promotional content that plays before, during, or after streaming content. These are like
advertising films, but that does not come up with any story. They include the business details
in the form of a short video.

03
ONLINE MEDIA
Online media refers to content that is presented electronically (digital media formats) on
websites or servers whereby detail is able to be retrieved through web browsers. Online media is
thus a form of electronic communication. Industries currently using online media successfully
include journalism, news broadcasters, marketing and advertising, commerce, as well as
entertainment (music and film).
● Websites and Blogs
Businesses generally use websites to
describe what their company is about
and host an e-commerce store for their
customers. Some companies also use
websites to display their content
marketing materials, such as blogs and
research articles.
ONLINE MEDIA
● Social Media
Social media are forms of digital media
intended to help people communicate
through the use of software. It includes
sites such as Twitter, Facebook,
Instagram,Snapchat, and Tiktok which
enable their users to interact with one
another through text posts, photographs,
and videos, leaving “likes” and comments
to create conversations around pop culture,
sports, news, politics, and the daily events
of users’ lives.
ONLINE MEDIA
● Audio
Companies can use audio to market
their business through mediums like
digital podcasts. They can either
develop an ad that runs during a
popular show, or create a podcast
themselves that talks about industry
news and information.
ONLINE MEDIA
● Online advertising
Online advertising refers to a
form of digital media that
businesses use to promote a
product or service. Examples of
advertising include website
banner ads or social media ads.
