5. Lincoln's First Inaugural Address
• In his 1st Inaugural address he pledged
that there would be no war unless, the
South started it
• His goal is to PRESERVE THE UNION!
• Stop the Spread of Slavery, not
necessarily end it.
He announced: “There needs to be no
bloodshed or violence; and there
shall be none, unless it be forced
upon the national authority.”
