The composite or generally prevailing weather conditions of
a region, temperature, air pressure, humidity, precipitation, sunshin
e,cloudiness, and winds, throughout the year, averaged over a series
of years.

CLIMATE AND WEATHER
• Weather is the mix of events that happens each day in our
atmosphere. Weather is not the same everywhere. It may be hot
and sunny in one part of the world, but freezing and snowy in
another.
• Climate is the average weather in a place over many years. While
the weather can change in just a few hours, climate takes
hundreds, thousands, even millions of years to change.

The graph above show temperature anomalies, or changes, not absolute temperature. They depict how
much various regions of the world have warmed or cooled when compared with a base period of 1951-
1980. (The global mean surface air temperature for that period was estimated to be 14°C (57°F), with
an uncertainty of several tenths of a degree.) In other words, the maps show how much warmer or
colder a region is compared to the norm for that region from 1951-1980.

Since the year 2000, land temperature changes are 50 percent greater in the United
States than ocean temperature changes; two to three times greater in Eurasia; and
three to four times greater in the Arctic and the Antarctic Peninsula. Warming of the
ocean surface has been largest over the Arctic Ocean, second largest over the Indian
and Western Pacific Oceans, and third largest over most of the Atlantic Ocean.

6. THE IDEAL CLIMATE
• There are 4 kinds of season; Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Fall. Out
of these 4 seasons, my most favourite season is Summer. The reason is
because I enjoy sunlight. Not to mention that sunlight has many
advantages for not only us human beings, but also for the living
creatures .
• There are several factors that support ideal climate; temperature,
sunshine, rainfall, humidity, etc.
• In my opinion, the ideal climate is a climate with the temperature
range from 24⁰C to 28⁰C at day-time, because as we all know,
sunlight brings plentiful advantages, such as: drying clothes,
supporting healthy bones, reducing cancer risk, and boosting
immunity system. For the night-time, it would be better if the
temperature is around 22⁰C to 24⁰C. This night-time temperature is
not really cool nor hot, it is a normal temperature. Because if the
temperature gets too hot or too cold, you will have trouble sleeping.

7. • Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air. For the fact that I like sunlight and hot
season, my ideal humidity level is about 50%, not very humid yet not very dry.
• According to the ideal climate that I chose, there will be some natural disasters happening
due to the hot air and the low level of humidity.
1. Droughts
A drought is a period of below-average precipitation in a given region, resulting in prolonged
shortages in its water supply, whether atmospheric, surface or ground water. A drought can
last for months or years, or may be declared after as few as 15 days .
2. Forest Fires
Forest fires mainly happen due to a really hot weather. Because the sunlight that is
too hot may burn the trees, leaves, and trunks. It might also happen because of the lightning
strikes in the dry forests due to prolonged drought.

9. • Advantages of living in a mild/temperate climate:
1. Living in a temperate environment will help improve your health. When the weather is comfortable, it
makes you want to get outside and enjoy the outdoors, such as: jogging and hiking.
2. Making a life in a temperate climate will extend the life of your belongings. Your vehicle will not be
exposed to bitter cold temperatures, road salt and other rust-causing elements. This means your car will
last years longer in a warm climate than it would in a location with harsh winters.
3. You will have access to fresh foods all year-long. People who live in areas with harsh winters can visit the
grocery store for fruits and vegetables, but they only have access to produce that has been shipped in from
other areas. This means the food is not as fresh.
• The disadvantage is:
Although this temperate/mild climate brings a lot of advantages, however, this climate brings a problem, too.
Since the temperature is relatively moderate, it will cause a problem for agricultural sector. The rice will be hard
to be harvested, because to make a the best rice, the sunlight and the solar thermal are all that needed. Unlike
the temperate climate sunlight that is moderate.
• This picture shows the temperate climate.
In geography, temperate or tepid latitudes of Earth lie
between the tropics and The Polar regions. The
temperatures in these regions are generally relatively
moderate, rather than extremely hot or cold, and the
changes between summer and winter are also usually
moderate.

10. This picture shows the climate of mediterranean. The mediterranean climate is
characterized by warm to hot, dry summers and mild to cool, wet winters.
• The advantage:
1. Temperature oscillation: it may hit 35°C at 4pm when the mercury is at
its hottest in the summer time but by 10pm, the temperature will have
plummeted to 12°C. Perfect weather for sleeping .
• The disadvantage:
1. No humidity. No humidity cause skin to dry.

11. • Tropical climate is a non-arid climate having an average temperatures above 18ºC.
Rainforests, Savanna and Semi-arid are some of the example of tropical climates.
• The advantage:
1. The tropical climate is good for the agricultural sector. It has hot temperatures all year.
The sea temperatures are between 21ºC and 32ºC.
• The disadvantage:
1. A high probability of some natural disasters to be occurred, such as: hurricanes,
tsunamis and other natural disasters

1. Get More Sunlight
Sunlight exposure increases your body’s vitamin D levels.
2. It’s Better for Your Heart & Lungs.
Cold weather can have a negative impact on your health, especially your heart and respiratory system. When
your body works to regulate heat, your blood pressure can increase to unhealthy levels, causing long-term
damage.
3. Improve Your Memory
Research shows that your overall alertness & mental performance is at its best when your body temperature is
high.
• The Disadvantages:
1. Hot climate causes skin to dry. It will be so much worse if people with a sensitive skin live in a hot, dry weather.
2. Dry and hot climate makes hair brittle.
3. Hot climate causes a desease: dry sinuses.
4. Getting too much sun exposure can cause skin cancer.
5. Hot, dry weather dries up too much water. It will cause droughts everywhere.
Hot and dry climate (desert climate) is a climate with the
temperature over 40°C. The precipitation is too low to
sustain any vegetation at all, or at most a very scanty shrub.

13. • In my opinion, the most ideal climate out of those 4 climates is
the climate in tropical place. The reason is because tropical climate
seems to have a good amount of sun’s exposure, it is good for our
skin and bone’s health. Not only the tropical climate has a good
amount of sunlight, it also has rainfalls, so it makes the climate
not too dry. It also has humidity level, even though it is low.

PANAMA.
WHY?
• Situated close to the equator, Panama enjoys a year-round tropical
climate. Panama sits outside the hurricane zone, extreme weather is
rare (do not have any tornadoes or tsunamis). However, have plenty of
sunshine and clear blue skies, with a healthy amount of rainfall
sprinkled in.
• Daytime temperatures in the low-lying areas throughout the country
range from 24°C to 32°C, with a country-wide average of 29°C. Night-
