CANDIDATE PROFILE
An very experienced and qualified Project Manager within the building services sector (BMS
& Controls in particular), BMS work has covered works associated with bio-hazard
containment (DAFM , Backweston Campus, Ireland), air flow regimes, alarm prioritisation and
reporting) with strong commercial and technical awareness. Latterly, experience has been
gained in Environmental, Energy Reduction and Sustainability Projects (Wind Turbines,
Biomass boilers, CHP, PV, Voltage reduction) dealing with both feasibility studies and the
implementation (Project Management) of suitable projects. This breadth of experience in
sustainability/mechanical/electrical design issues permits a multi-disciplined and practical
approach to generating specifications & test documentation that work in conjunction with all
services and to resolving technical and on-site construction or scheduling issues (e.g. trouble-
shooting “difficult” air conditioning schemes) and project management issues, cross trade co-
ordination, H&S.

Projects included -
 Department of Transport Offices, London, energy/carbon reduction projects including
the upgrade of the existing ventilation systems to accommodate variable speed drives
coupled with intelligent adjustments to the environmental control parameters (including an
upgrade to the monitoring system). This resulted in a considerable decrease in energy
usage by the mechanical services at a cost of £180K with a payback period of 11 months.
 Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes which was oil fired and
incorporated 28 buildings each with its own separate boiler and cooling plant. This included
BMS and network upgrade, Carbon reduction study including bio-mass boilers, heat pumps
and wind turbines. I acted as project manager (liaising with contractors and external
consultants) and client’s representative for the facilities team. £260K consultancy fees.
 LifeScan Scotland Ltd. The projects with this client were concerned with Energy
Management and waste heat recovery; one of the projects included the design &
management of an aM&T system installation (automatic Monitoring and Targeting) allowing
the facilities managers to see where the energy was being used and identify where savings
could be made. We also produced feasibility studies on Co-and Tri-generation CHP
schemes. It was a project value of £1M+ incorporating over £100K in consultancy fees.
 Central Science Laboratories (CSL) York. GENEX had a number of ongoing projects,
concentrating on energy and carbon reduction strategies, e.g. installation of CHP (a 220kW
unit), installation of adiabatic humidification, installation of variable speed drives to the
