The induction is designed to inform team members of Infraworks' policies and procedures and their safety responsibilities. A questionnaire is included at the end to assess understanding.

9. AS PART OF OUR COMMITMENT TO HEALTH AND SAFETY, INFRAWORKS IS RESPONSIBLE TO
PROVIDE A DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE WORKPLACE.
•INFRAWORKS & INGOLF EMPLOYEES MUST NOT BE ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY ALCOHOL OR
OTHER DRUGS WHILST AT WORK.
•INFRAWORKS & INGOLF EMPLOYEES ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO REGULAR AND RANDOM
DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING.
•ANY INFRAWORKS EMPLOYEE INVOLVED IN RAIL SAFE-WORKING OR RAILWAY
MAINTENANCE / CONSTRUCTION WORKS MUST HAVE A ZERO BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTENT
AND BE FREE FROM THE INFLUENCE OF OTHER DRUGS WHEN REPORTING FOR WORK, AND
REMAIN SO WHILST AT WORK.
•INFRAWORKS & INGOLF EMPLOYEES WHO BREACH THE ABOVE-MENTIONED WILL BE
SUBJECT TO COUNSELLING AND/OR DISCIPLINE ACTION.
•BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVELS ABOVE 0.00 IS CONSIDERED A CRIMINAL OFFENCE AND WILL BE
HANDLED BY THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY‘S WHICH MAY LEAD TO HEAVY FINES OR
IMPRISONMENT.
•SERIOUS OR ONGOING BREACHES OF THIS POLICY MAY RESULT IN DISMISSAL.
•INFRAWORKS EMPLOYEES WHO THINK THEY MAY HAVE AN ALCOHOL OR DRUG PROBLEM
ARE ENCOURAGED TO SELF IDENTIFY. ANY EMPLOYEE WHO SELF IDENTIFIES WITH AN
ALCOHOL OR DRUG PROBLEM WILL BE OFFERED ASSISTANCE TO HELP THEM OVERCOME
THEIR PROBLEM THROUGH THE INFRAWORKS EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
MANAGED BY ASSOCIATED COUNSELLORS . & PSYCHOLOGISTS SYDNEY
Drug And Alcohol Policy
10. AS PART OF THE FATIGUE MANAGEMENT POLICY, INFRAWORKS & INGOLF WILL APPLY A NUMBER OF
INITIATIVES TO COMBAT FATIGUE. THESE INCLUDE:
•THE IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT OF A FATIGUE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
•ADEQUATE SUPERVISION OF DRIVER WORK HOURS.
•FLEXIBLE MEAL BREAKS
•DRIVER WORKING HOURS, BREAKS AND REST TIMES SHALL BE AS PER THE REQUIREMENTS OF
CURRENT NSW ROAD SAFETY LEGISLATION AND NATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•APPROPRIATE REPORTING AND RECORDING REQUIREMENTS
•ONGOING MONITORING, DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE FATIGUE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
•REGULAR SHIFT AND SPREAD OF HOURS MANAGEMENT
INFRAWORKS WILL ENSURE ANY EMPLOYE3E WHO IS IMPAIRED, NO MATTER WHAT THE CAUSE, WILL
NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE INVOLVED IN SAFETY CRITICAL TASKS, E.G. OPERATION PLANT AND
MACHINERY, DRIVING VEHICLES, SAFE WORKING ETC.
INFRAWORKS & INGLOLF EMPLOYEES MAY ONLY WORK 12 SHIFTS IN A 14 DAY PERIOD OR A MAXIMUM
OF 124 HOURS.
WHERE OPERATORS/WORKERS ARE CHANGING SHIFTS I.E. DAY TO A NIGHT SHIFT, ADEQUATE REST
PERIODS OF AT LEAST 10 HOURS SHALL BE PROVIDED BETWEEN SHIFTS. . IF 12 HOUR SHIFT IS TO BE
EXCEEDED, YOU MUST CONTACT ON CALL SUPERVISOR OR WHS MANAGER SO THAT YOUR CONDITION
CAN BE ASSESSED.
IT IS A BREACH OF THIS POLICY IF ANY EMPLOYEE HAS ADDITIONAL EMPLOYMENT WHICH MAY IMPACT
ON THEIR FATIGUE. ALL INFRAWORKS & INGOLF EMPLOYEES ARE ENCOURAGED TO TELL MANAGEMENT
IF THEY HAVE A SECOND JOB WHILST THEIR TIME AT INFRAWORKS.

11. INFRAWORKS HAVE ADOPTED AN ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM, DESIGNED TO MEET AND/OR EXCEED THE REQUIREMENTS

•CREATING A WORKPLACE CLIMATE THAT SUPPORTS WORK BASED INJURY
MANAGEMENT AND EXPECTATION FOR INJURED AND ILL WORKERS TO MAKE A SAFE
RETURN TO WORK AS SOON AS MEDICALLY PERMISSIBLE.
•RESPECTING THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF INJURED WORKERS ENSURING THAT
PARTICIPATION IN A RETURN TO WORK PROGRAM WILL NOT, OF ITSELF, PREJUDICE
AN INJURED OR ILL WORKER.
•ENSURING A CONSULTATIVE PROCESS IS USED WITH ALL INVOLVED PARTIES.
•ACTIVELY IDENTIFYING AND LOCATING SUITABLE DUTIES FOR WORKERS
PARTICIPATING IN A RETURN TO WORK PROGRAM. WHERE THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE,
ENSURING APPROPRIATE EXTERNAL PROVIDERS ASSIST THE INJURED OR ILL
WORKER TO RETURN TO A MEANINGFUL AND FULFILLING ROLE WITHIN THE
COMMUNITY.
•FULLY EXPLORING THE RETURN TO WORK PROCESS FOR INJURED WORKERS WITH
A WORK INJURY PRIOR TO COMMENCING THE DISMISSAL PROCESS.
Return To Work Policy
13. IF THE TRAINING FOR THE INDIVIDUAL IS NOT COMPULSORY, AND IS ONLY RECOMMENDED
FOR DEVELOPMENT THEN THE WORKER SHALL FUND THEIR OWN TRAINING.
IF THE INDIVIDUAL ACCEPTS ANY TRAINING THEY DO SO WITH THEIR DEVELOPMENT AND
EMPLOYABILITY IN MIND:
•PAYMENT MUST BE MADE BY THE PARTICIPANT BEFORE THE COURSE/ASSESSMENT IS
BOOKED.
•PAYMENT PLAN: THE INDIVIDUAL WILL THEN PAY UP FRONT OR HAVE INFRAWORKS DEDUCT
THE AMOUNT OWING OUT OF THEIR PAY OVER A PERIOD OF NOT MORE THAN 3 MONTHS
FROM THE COMMENCEMENT OF COURSE.
•IF THE PARTICIPANT IS UNABLE TO ATTEND A SCHEDULED COURSE THEY WILL BE
REQUIRED TO PAY THE CANCELLATION FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE CANCELLATION.
PLEASE SIGN ON THE TRAINING AGREEMENT POLICY THAT IS SUPPLIED IN YOUR
EMPLOYMENT PACKS. YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED OF ANY UPCOMING COURSES AND IF YOU
HAVE BEEN SELECTED PRIOR TO THE TRAINING COMMENCING.
IF TRAINING IS COMPULSORY THEN INFRAWORKS WILL FUND THE TRAINING
Training Agreement
Policy
14. INFRAWORKS IS COMMITTED TO PROTECTING THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL OUR EMPLOYEES.
INJURY AND ILLNESS IS NEEDLESS, COSTLY AND PREVENTABLE. OUR COMPANY WILL CONSULT OUR
EMPLOYEES IN IMPLEMENTING SAFETY PRACTICES AND SYSTEMS THAT WILL ENSURE THE HEALTH,
SAFETY AND WELFARE OF OUR EMPLOYEES.
INFRAWORKS HAVE NOW ADOPTED A SYSTEM OF CONSULTATION THAT IS CALLED “OTHER AGREED
ARRANGEMENTS”
THIS INVOLVES VARIOUS METHODS OF CONSULTATION IN THE FORM OF:
• TOOLBOX TALKS
• SAFETY FLYERS/BULLETINS
• SAFETY MEETINGS/MINUTES DISPLAYED
• INDUCTIONS
• EMAIL/SMS CORRESPONDENCE
EMPLOYEES SHOULD BRING UP ANY HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERNS THAT THEY HAVE ABOUT THE
WORKPLACE DURING TOOLBOX TALKS SO THE ISSUE CAN BE PROMPTLY ADDRESSED
Consultation Arrangements
15. ALL TEAM MEMBERS WORKING ON SITE WILL BE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE SITE SPECIFIC INDUCTION PRIOR TO COMMENCING
WORK ON SITE. RAIL INDUSTRY SAFETY INDUCTION (RISI) AND INDUSTRY GENERAL INDUCTION (CONSTRUCTION CARD) ARE
PREREQUISITES WHICH TEAM MEMBERS NEED BEFORE STARTING WORK FOR INFRAWORKS RAIL.
IF YOU DECLINE A INDUCTION THEN WE WILL ASSUME YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN WORKING WITH INFRAWORKS. WE ONLY
HAVE A FEW SPOTS WHEN INDUCTIONS COME AROUND SO WHEN THEY COME AROUND PLEASE TURN UP TO THEM.
THIS IS TO INCLUDE ALL CONSULTANTS, ENGINEERS AND SUBCONTRACTORS MANAGEMENT WHO VISIT THE SITE MORE THAN
ONCE DURING THE COURSE OF THEIR WORKS.
TEAM MEMBERS WILL ATTEND SITE INDUCTIONS DRESSED IN FULL WORK WEAR.
TEAM MEMBERS WILL PARTICIPATE IN DAILY ALCOHOL TESTING PRIOR TO INDUCTIONS.
TEAM MEMBERS WILL PARTICIPATE IN RANDOM DRUG SCREENING
TEAM MEMBERS WILL REPORT TO THEIR SITE SUPERVISOR ONCE INDUCTED.
SAFE WORK METHOD STATEMENT (SWMS)
ALL EMPLOYEES WILL BE REQUIRED TO UNDERTAKE A SWMS REVIEW PRIOR TO COMMENCING WORK ON SITE.
THE SWMS REVIEWS THE TASKS/ACTIVITIES YOU WILL UNDERTAKE ON THE SITE. EACH EMPLOYEE WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIGN
THE SWMS TO SIGNIFY THAT THEY HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD AND WILL FOLLOW THE DOCUMENTED PROCEDURES.
Site Inductions and SWMS
16. SCHEDULING IS DONE BY SMS. A SMS WILL BE SENT TO YOU OUTLINE DATES, TIME
LOCATION AND/OR WORKS TO BE PERFORMED. EMPLOYEES ARE URGED TO NOT
IGNORE THE SMS. PLEASE RESPOND WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE ABLE TO WORK OR
NOT, INFRAWORKS WOULD RATHER YOU SAY NO THAN NOT SHOW UP.
IF YOU IGNORE THE SMS WE ASSUME YOU ARE NOT LOOKING FOR WORK.
YOU MUST ALSO REPLY TO NON-WORK RELATED SMS. THESE SMS ARE SENT TO
BENEFIT YOU.
IF AT ANY STAGE YOU FALL ILL AND CANNOT TURN UP TO YOUR SHIFT IT IS VITAL THAT
YOU CONTACT INFRAWORKS’ CONTACT NATASHAALE. DO NOT CALL THE SITE
CONTACT OR CLIENT AS INFRAWORKS WILL ORGANISE A SUITABLE REPLACEMENT TO
COVER THE SHIFT YOU MISS.

AWARE IF YOU ARE READY OR NOT AND BACK YOU BACK ON SITE AS SOON AS

17. PPE REQUIREMENTS WILL SLIGHTLY DIFFER FROM CLIENT TO CLIENT BUT AS A MINIMUM ALL
INFRAWORKS TEAM MEMBERS WILL PERFORM DUTIES WHILE WEARING PPE INCLUDING:
•ANKLE HIGH, LACE UP, STEEL CAPPED BOOTS,
•FULL LENGTH WORK TROUSERS/DRILL PANTS,
•TFNSW APPROVED HI VIS PONCHO STYLE VEST,
•TFNSW APPROVED LONG SLEEVED WORK SHIRT,
•MEDIUM IMPACT SAFETY EYEWEAR,
•SAFETY GLOVES AND HARD HAT.
•YOU MUST TURN UP TO SITE WITH THE ABOVE ITEMS OR YOU WON’T BE ALLOWED ON SITE.
Personal Protective Equipment
18. PPE REQUIREMENTS FOR INGLEBURN
YARDThe Ingleburn Yard is a shared facility between Infraworks Plant Hire,
maintenance workshop.
As the Workshop and yard share common ground it is imperative that
site rules are followed in their entirety.
• All forklifts onsite must be fitted with a non-tonal quacker and
flashing beacon.
• Forklift operators must inform any persons working in the proximity
of racking that forklift will be operating and establish an exclusion
zone.
• Workshop staff must be well clear of area when the quacker is
heard or preferably informed prior to operation.
• Workshop staff are not to resume work until forklift has been parked
up and key removed
All person entering the Workshop, Hard Stand Area and Warehouse
must have at a minimum high visibility vest, safety footwear and eye
protection.
19. MOBILE PHONES/ELECTRONICS
ALL INFRAWORKS & INGOLF EMPLOYEES SHALL NOT BE USING MOBILE PHONES/MP3 MEDIA
PLAYERS WHILE OPERATING PLANT OR EQUIPMENT. MOBILE PHONE USAGE IS DEPENDANT
ON THE CLIENT AND PROJECT REQUIREMENTS.
PRACTICAL JOKES
PRACTICAL JOKES OR HORSEPLAY OFTEN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY. THEY ARE STRICTLY
PROHIBITED AND INFRAWORKS URGES ALL EMPLOYEES TO REPORT ANY MISCONDUCT
TAKING PLACE ON SITE IMMEDIATELY.
INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR
BULLYING, DISCRIMINATION, CULTURAL OR GENDER VILIFICATION IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED
AND DIRECTLY BREACHES INFRAWORKS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. THESE BEHAVIOURS
WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND ANY TEAM MEMBER FOUND TO BE INVOLVED IN
UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR WILL BE COUNSELLED AND DISCIPLINED.
Employee Conduct
20. INFRAWORK’S POLICY ENSURES ACTION WILL BE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY A HAZARD (OR
POTENTIAL HAZARD) HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED.
WHAT IS A HAZARD?
A HAZARD IS ANYTHING THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE HARM TO PEOPLE, PROPERTY
AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
SAFE WORK METHOD STATEMENTS (SWMS) OUTLINE SPECIFIC TASKS TO BE CARRIED OUT
AND ANY HAZARDS, RISKS AND CONTROL MEASURES ASSOCIATED WITH THE TASK.
ALTHOUGH SWMS COVER THE MAJORITY OF HAZARDS ON THE JOB, SOME UNIQUE
HAZARDS MAY HAVE BEEN MISSED.
THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL INFRAWORKS EMPLOYEES TO STOP AND ASSESS THE
WORK ENVIRONMENT. CHANGES TO THE SWMS MAY BE REQUIRED BEFORE STARTING
WORK.
Hazard Identification
21. DANGER ZONE
EMPLOYEE’S MUST NOT WALK IN THE DANGER ZONE UNLESS:
AN EASILY REACHED SAFE PLACE IS AVAILABLE THERE IS ALSO NO ALTERNATIVE ROUTE, PROTECTION OFFICER TO BE WITH YOU AT ALL TIMES AND
A REASON TO BE THERE. THE PO WILL BRIEF YOU ON THE DANGERS AND YOU HAVE SIGNED AND AGREED TO THE PREVENTIVE MEASURES
WALKING IN THE DANGER ZONE IS:
WALKING FROM PLACE TO PLACE IN THE DANGER ZONE AND DOING NO WORK OTHER THAN PLACING OR REMOVING RAILWAY TRACK SIGNALS, OR
FLAGS, LIGHTS OR CLIPPING AND LOCKING POINTS.
DANGER ZONE IS EVERYWHERE WITHIN 3M HORIZONTALLY FROM THE NEAREST RAIL AND ANY DISTANCE ABOVE OR BELOW THIS 3 M, UNLESS A
SAFE PLACE EXISTS OR HAS BEEN CREATED.
22. INCIDENTS OR NEAR MISSES, NO MATTER HOW SMALL MUST BE REPORTED AS SOON AS
POSSIBLE TO YOUR SITE SUPERVISOR.
EXAMPLES OF INCIDENTS INCLUDE:
INJURY (MINOR CUTS, BURNS AND ABRASIONS INCLUDED)
VEHICLE DAMAGE (CAR COLLISIONS, FAULTS OR DEFECTS)
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE (FAULTS, DEFECTS, SAFE OPERATIONAL DEVICES)
BREACH OF POLICY (NON NEGATIVE DRUG OR ALCOHOL TESTS)
INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR (BULLYING, DISCRIMINATION, HORSEPLAY)
ALL INCIDENTS WILL BE INVESTIGATED AND THE INFORMATION GIVEN MUST BE ACCURATE IN
ORDER TO ENSURE A REPEAT INCIDENT DOES NOT OCCUR.
AS A RULE ALL SERIOUS INCIDENTS WILL BE INVESTIGATED WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF
CLIENT MANAGEMENT AND INFRAWORKS MANAGEMENT.

24. OPERATING PLANT AND MACHINERY
DRIVERS OF COMPANY VEHICLES AND PLANT, INCLUDING FORKLIFTS, WILL COMPLETE A
“PRESTART SAFETY CHECK” ACCORDING TO THE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTION OR CHECKLIST
FOR THE VEHICLE OR PLANT, AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH DAY OR SHIFT. E.G. COMPANY
OWNED VEHICLES: CHECK PETROL, OIL, BRAKES, TYRES, STEERING, LIGHTS, WIPERS, DOOR
LOCKS, INDICATORS. CLEAN WINDSCREENS, REAR VIEW MIRRORS AND REAR WINDOW.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO ENSURE THAT A DEFECT OR FAULT IS REPORTED IMMEDIATELY
AND THAT IT IS ATTENDED TO BEFORE YOU DRIVE THE VEHICLE.
ALL OPERATORS OF PLANT & MACHINERY NEED TO BE VOC BY INFRAWORKS SUPERVISORS
