Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median and Mode
Question 1
1. Question 1
In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
2. Gender
For gender we decided not to challenge the
forms and conventions already set but to use
and develop them. This was because our thriller
was only allowed to be a few minutes long and
to really represent the characters the way we
wanted we thought sticking to the conventions
of gender was the best way to do it. In our
thriller the antagonist is male and the victims
are all female.
3. Gender
We wanted to represent the real and raw cruelty
of the antagonist. By using many girls in our
thriller we were able to show this. The girls are
seen lying on the floor of a dirty, cold and
abandoned warehouse, covered in blood and
wearing ripped clothes. This showed the
vulnerability of the female gender as one man
was able to control so many women out of their
will.
4. Clothing
The clothing of the girls in our thriller shows
repetitiveness as they are all wearing similar
things, the antagonist obviously liked to torture
a specific type of person which was a young girl
in tight clothes or shorts. The main characters
wear casual and comfortable clothes to show
they are normal represent their roles in life.
5. Age
Age is also developed as a convention because
the couple are obviously a young couple, this
represents that they might not know a lot about
each other and moving forward in their
relationship is quite sponteneous. Also all the
girls in the warehouse are young and of similar
ages, teenage girls are most vulnerable because
they are petite and easy to manipulate. They
aren’t very aware of themselves are very
unwise.
