I made sure that my magazine front cover, contents
page and double page spread all represent my
particular social group correctly.
The main image on my
front cover is taken of a
white female holding a
guitar. The guitar on my
cover shows clearly that the
magazine is a music
magazine and represents
the genre of my magazine.
The genre of my magazine is
rock and it is represented
through my use of colours,
images and language in the
text.
The cover lines on my front
cover go with the colour
scheme on my magazine
which continues to represent
my genre of rock. The
language used in my cover
lines is also consistent
throughout my magazine,
sustaining the informal and
slightly slang language so that
it is definitely appealing to my
young target audience.
Although the language in my
magazine is informal, this dos
not mean that my audience
are uneducated. My audience
are still educated, I just feel
that informal language would
fit their age better and be
more readable.
My contents page consists of images and text showing what is within the
magazine. The images in my magazine convey that the audience love to go to
concerts, they prefer dark colours and listen to rock music.
The cover lines on my contents page convey that my
audience are big music fans and want constant updates
on artists, bands and venues etc.
The informal and slightly slang language is
consistent throughout my cover lines on my
contents page.
The layout I chose on my contents page makes it clear to read for my
audience. The cover lines aren’t too lengthy and the layout makes it
easy to quickly find what you want to read.
My double page spread includes and article based on
my chosen artist. The language used in my article is
quite informal, I used some elements of slang as I
understand that my target audience are young and
using informal language will reflect their age and how
they read.
Using a pull quote will
attract the audience into
reading my article, because
of this I made the pull
quote interesting, based on
my article and written in
informal language. This
reflects my readers
personality and how they
like to read.
The heading on my double page spread is black in quite a violent text, this
conveys the heavy rock genre of music, also conveying that my audience are
rock fans.
In the stand first I made sure that the language and layout is easy to read,
not writing too much text, this makes the audience want to read it as it is
short and easily readable. Also it is highlighted in a yellow box which stands
out from the page. I felt that this would imply that my audience like bright
colours as they are mainly young.
