lieved to have pushed away
subscribers. It lost 700,000
subscribers after suspend-
ing operations in Russia.
The facility of password
sharing which Netflix al-
lowed for a household was
misused to include about a
100 million n0n-paying
viewers using others’ con-

planned to monetize these
viewers to increase its rev-

the move did not get a fa-

Netflix viewership got a
boost during the Covid-19

New Delhi (ANI): A
group of Congress lead-

on Thursday, reached
Delhi's Jahangirpuri to
meet the families affect-
ed by yesterday's demo-
lition drive in the area.
The delegation will
submit a report to the
party's interim presi-
dent Sonia Gandhi, said
a member of the
16-member group.
We have come to Ja-
hangirpuri to meet the
victims.Policehavebeen

come here to tell the peo-
ple that this should not
be seen from the prism
of religion, Maken told
media persons.
Congress leader Im-
ran Pratapgarhi, a del-

fected families. Later,
we will submit a report

Gupta, who arrived at
the site before the dele-
gation, said that permis-
sion for meeting the peo-

ried out by BJP-ruled

poration of Delhi, Gup-
ta said, They did not
obey the SC's orders.
They shouldn't have
dared to carry on with
the demolition drive in
contempt of the apex
court. In the coming
days, this can set a dan-
gerous precedent.

BULLDOZERS RUN
UNDER GUISE OF
ILLEGAL: MAYAWATI
Lucknow (PTI): BSP presi-
dent Mayawati on Thurs-
day came down heavily
on the use of bulldozers in
Delhi’s violence-hit Jahan-
girpuri area, and said using
religion as a tool in such
exercises can harm mutual
harmony and anti-national
forces can take advantage
of the situation. “Bulldozers
are being run under the
guise of illegal construc-
tion in different states
of the country including
Jahangirpuri in Delhi in
which poor people are also
being affected, whereas the
government should also
take strict action against
officials whose corruption
has led to illegal construc-
tions,” the BSP chief said
in a tweet in Hindi. Several
structures in Jahangir-
puri were razed during an
anti-encroachment drive
conducted by the NDMC.
TMC TO SEND FACT-FINDING TEAM
TO DELHI AFTER VIOLENCE: REPORT
Kolkata (ANI): With the Jahangirpuri violence stirring
the political pot, the Trinamool Congress has decided to
send a fact-finding team to the national capital on Friday,
party sources said. Trinamool MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar
is among the party members in the fact-finding team,
sources said. The West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata
Banerjee-led Trinamool has joined the bandwagon of the
Opposition in stepping up the heat on the BJP following
the Jahangirpuri violence and the subsequent demolition
drive carried out by NDMC in the locality on Thursday.
The Trinamool’s move has come in the backdrop of CPM
Politburo member Brinda Karat visiting the area.
5-MEMBER SP DELEGATION TO VISIT
DELHI TO ‘PROBE’ DEMOLITION DRIVE
Lucknow (PTI): A five-member Samajwadi Party delega-
tion will visit Delhi on Friday to “investigate” the NDMC’s
demolition drive in violence-hit Jahangirpuri, they party
said. It said the delegation comprising sitting and former
members of parliament has been formed on the instruc-
tion of party chief Akhilesh Yadav. “BJP-ruled North Delhi
Municipal Corporation destroyed Jahangirpuri with bull-
dozers on April 20. A five-member delegation has been
constituted for its investigation,” chief SP spokesperson
Rajendra Choudhary said Thursday.
WE ARE ON ROAD TO HELL: CHIDAMBARAM ON JAHANGIRPURI
New Delhi (PTI): Senior Congress leader P Chidam-
baram on Thursday attacked the BJP over bulldozers
razing several structures in violence-hit Jahangirpuri
during an anti-encroachment drive, saying “we see
the rule of law break down everyday” and soon there
will be “no law and no rules”. Several concrete and
temporary structures close to a mosque were brought
down on Wednesday morning as part of an anti-
encroachment drive by the BJP-ruled North Delhi Mu-
nicipal Corporation (NDMC), days after the northwest
Delhi neighbourhood was rocked by violence.
TEJASHWI SLAMS CENTRE OVER ‘BULLDOZER CULTURE’
Patna (Agencies): RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday
slammed the “bulldozer culture” of Narendra Modi govern-
ment accusing it of demolishing the structures of a particular
community in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri and other BJP-ruled
states. “China built two villages in the Indian territory but the
Centre fear speaking two words about it, forget about demol-
ishing them. Are they concerned about national interest, unity
and integrity and the constitution or are just running bulldoz-
ers on a particular community?” Tejashwi said. “If those in
(Jahangirpuri) are illegal constructions, what was the govern-
ment and administration doing till now,” Tejashwi asked.
Seven electoral trusts received `258 cr in

New Delhi: Seven elec-
toral trusts received a
total amount of `258.49
crore from corporates
and individuals, and
the BJP bagged more
than 82% of it, poll
rights body ADR said.
Electoral trust is a
non-profit organisation
formed in India for or-
derly receiving of con-
tributions from corpo-
rate entities and indi-
viduals to political par-
ties. It aims at improv-
ing transparency in the
usage of funds for elec-
tion-related expenses.
The Association for
Democratic Reforms
(ADR), in a new report,
said 16 out of the 23
electoral trusts submit-
ted details of their con-
tribution for the finan-
cial year 2020-21 to the
EC, of which only seven
declared to have re-
ceived donations.
“Seven electoral
trusts which have de-
clared receiving contri-
butions during FY 2020-
21, have received a total
amount of `258.4915
crore from corporates
and distributed
`258.4301 cr to political
parties,” it said.
The BJP received
`212.05 crore or 82.05
per cent of these dona-
tions, while the JDU se-
cured `27 crore or 10.45
per cent of the amount.
Ten other political
parties — Congress,
NCP, AIADMK, DMK,
RJD, AAP, LJP, CPM,
CPI and the Loktantrik
Janta Dal together re-
ceived `19.38 crore.
According to the
rules formulated by the
central government,
electoral trusts are re-
quired to distribute at
least 95 per cent of the
total contributions re-
ceived during the finan-
cial year, along with the
surplus brought for-
ward from the previous
financial year, to eligi-
ble political parties be-
fore March 31.
The ADR report anal-
yses the details of do-
nors of seven electoral
trusts formed after Jan-
uary, 2013, and the con-
tributions made
through them to politi-
cal parties during a
given year.

our efforts should be
aligned to one thing:

unity of the nation. He
said, “We have to uplift
our districts with multi-

India@100 vision
should have your dis-
trict at the top,” he said.
“Our efforts should
be directed towards
making the dreams of
common man a reality

mission,” he said.
“When you try to pro-
actively learn from peo-
ple, you will always find
something new to adapt

dra Modi also wished
all Civil Servants.

Adani hosts Boris, first
UK PM to visit Gujarat
Ahmedabad: UK
Prime Minister Boris
Johnson, who is on a
two-day visit to India,
met industrialist Gau-
tam Adani on Thursday
.
“Honoured to host @
BorisJohnson, the first
UK PM to visit Gujarat,
at Adani HQ. Delighted
to support climate
sustainability agenda
with a focus on renewa-
bles, green H2 new
energy. Will also work
with UK companies to
co-create defence aer-
ospace technologies,”
Mr Adani tweeted.
According to sources
quoted by news agency
PTI, the two discussed,
among other things,
key sectors such as en-
ergy transition, climate
action, aerospace and
defence collaboration.
With India set to in-
vest $300 billion by 2030
to modernize its armed
forces, sources said col-
laboration in the de-
fence sector was one of
the key focus areas of
the meeting between
Adani and Mr Johnson,
PTI reported.

ties in Ukraine and that everybody understands India
and Russia’s “very different relationships historically”,
British PM Boris Johnson said the UK has already
raised the Ukraine war issue with PM Narendra Modi at
a diplomatic level. Johnson’s visit to India comes at a
time when India has taken a neutral stand on the Rus-

New Delhi: Two days
after Prime Minister’s
interaction with Union
Secretaries (02.04.2022),
the Cabinet Secretariat
has shot letters to the
heads of various de-
partments and minis-
tries asking them to ini-
tiate immediate steps to
fill the existing vacan-
cies against sanctioned
posts.
While interacting
with Union Secretaries,
Prime Minister Naren-
dra Modi had expressed
serious concerns over
continuing vacancies in
various departments.
Reportedly
, PM had
emphasizedthatemploy-
ment generation should
be given a high priority
and should be the focus
of Government inter-
ventions across public
and private sectors. Eve-
ry industry/ Depart-
ment should immediate-
ly take steps to fill the
existing vacancies
againstsanctionedposts.
As a matter of fact,
there is a shortage of of-
ficers at various grades
under the Central Sec-
retariat Service (CSS)
and Central Secretariat
Stenographers’ Service
(CSSS) in various de-
partments, thus ad-
versely impacting the
functioning of several
Departments and ham-
pering timelines and ef-
fectiveness in providing
the essential services to
the public and ensuring
good governance - one
of the poll promises of
NDA Govt since 2014.
Taking a look at the
vacancies against the
aforementioned servic-
es (CSS CSSS). Sourc-
es say that roughly all
put together hundreds
and hundreds of posts
are vacant in minis-
tries and departments
at various levels name-
ly; Senior Private Secre-
tary/Principal Staff Of-
ficer, Under Secretary,
Principal Private Secre-
tary, Section Officers,
Private Secretary, As-
sistant Section Officers,
Personnel Assistant,
Stenographer ‘D’, Sen-
ior Secretariat Assis-
tant and Junior Secre-
tariat Assistant.
In last few days many
Union Secretaries have
started responding to
Cabinet Secretariat’s
letter along with the de-
tails of sanctioned
strength and vacancies
in respective depart-
ments ministries at
various levels as afore-
mentioned.
For example the De-
partment of Food and
Public Distribution has
written a letter to Secre-
tary, DoPT requesting
filling up of vacant
posts; details of the va-
cancies are like this:-
Senior Private Secre-
tary/Principal Staff Of-
ficer 3 sanctioned posts
with one vacancy; Un-
der Secretary 31 sanc-
tioned posts with 3 va-
cancies; Principal Pri-
vate Secretary 13 sanc-
tioned posts with one
vacancy; Section Offic-
ers 59 sanctioned posts
with 26 vacancies; Pri-
vate Secretary 29 sanc-
tioned posts with 13 va-
cancies; Assistant Sec-
tion Officers 122 sanc-
tioned posts with 9 va-
cancies; Personnel As-
sistant with 21 sanc-
tioned post with 21 va-
cancies; Stenographer
‘D’ 26 sanctioned post
with 6 vacancies; Sen-
ior Secretariat Assis-
tant 8 sanctioned post
with 2 vacancies; and
Junior Secretariat As-
sistant 12 sanctioned
posts with 6 vacancies.
It may be underlined
that Central Secretariat
which comprises of
mainly three services
i.e. Central Secretariat
Service (CSS), Central
Secretariat Stenogra-
pher Service (CSSS)
and Central Secretariat
Clerical Service (CSCS)
is having hundreds of
vacancies.
The PM’s direction
has provided the much-
needed solace to CSS
CSSS cadre officers in
view of their long-pend-
ing attempts at seeking
decision-makers’ atten-
tion to the career pros-
pects and long-pending
issue of promotion of
CSS Cadre. They had
met Dr. Jitendra Singh,
MoS for Personnel
PMO, seeking his inter-
vention and getting
them justice. Though
their promotional is-
sues, subject to judicial
outcomes, are yet to be
addressed it seems that
their efforts are likely
to bear fruits. A section
of the CSS cadre looks
at the recent develop-
ment (filling up vacan-
cies with urgency) and
presumes that their col-
lective efforts have not
gone unheard and their
promotion issues may
soon gather momentum
in the backdrop of PM’s
latest direction to Un-
ion Secretaries.

INDIA'S HIGH GROWTH RATE
positivenewsforworld:IMF
Washington (PTI): A
high growth rate for In-
dia, as projected in the
latest World Economic
Outlook, is not only
healthy for the country
but also positive news for
the world, Managing Di-
rector of the Internation-
al Monetary Fund
Kristalina Georgieva has
said.
The IMF, early this
week, projected a fairly
robust growth of 8.2 per
cent for India in 2022,
making it the fastest-
growing major economy
in the world, almost twice
faster than China’s 4.4
per cent.
The global
growth has been
projected at 3.6 per
cent in 2022, down
from 6.1 per cent in 2021.
“India is one of the
economies that are grow-
ing at a high rate. Even
with the small down-
grade, growth is project-
ed for this year to be 8.2
percent. Healthy for In-
dia, but also positive in a
worldwheregrowthslow-
down is creating a major
problem, Georgieva told
reporters at a news con-
ference here on the side-
lines of the annual spring
meeting of the IMF and
the World Bank on
Wednesday
.
On Monday, she met
the visiting Indian Fi-
nance Minister Nirmala
Sitharaman.
She said India already
plays a very important
international role.
IMF urges India
to give top priority
to food security
Washington (PTI):
Applauding India for
prioritising public in-
vestment in its annual
budget, the Interna-
tional Monetary Fund
has urged the country
to prioritise food secu-
rity and expand trans-
fers to the vulnerable
in the wake of the
global economic crisis
triggered by the war in
Ukraine.
Paolo Mauro, Depu-
ty Director, Fiscal Af-
fairs Department of
the IMF told reporters
during a news confer-
ence held here on the
sidelines of the annu-
al Spring meeting of
the IMF and the World
Bank that the chal-
lenges coming from
the economic conse-
quences of Russia’s
invasion of Ukraine
were quite sever.
Observing that in-
flation in India is
somewhat elevated, he
said that it is a little
bit above the comfort
zone for the Central
Bank, which is already
addressing that issue.
On the fiscal front,
the budget is approxi-
mately neutral, which
seems to be sensible at
this time, he said .
Given the price rise,
clearly this is a situa-
tion in which house-
holds are feeling the
pain of the situation,
Mauro said.
India’s move

World Bank Presi-
dent David Malpass
has welcomed India’s
move to begin selling
oil from its stock-
piles, asserting that
the world needs to
take important steps
to address the cur-
rent set of crises.
Speaking on the
sidelines of the an-
nual Spring meeting
of the IMF and the
World Bank held
here, Malpass told re-
porters that allowing
more trade and open-
ing of markets were
“very important”
steps.
“I was intrigued to
see and welcomed In-
dia’smovesyesterday

Fertiliser subsidy set to touch
a record high of `1.65 lakh cr
New Delhi (ANI): The
Indian government’s
fertiliser subsidy bill is
set to touch an all-time
high of Rs 1.65 lakh
crore this fiscal against
Rs 1.05 lakh crore budg-
eted, due to an unprec-
edented rise in the cost
of raw materials and
prices of fertilisers
globally
, according to a
CRISIL Ratings report.
The report noted
that the government
has been proactive in
addressing the situa-
tion. In the past two
fiscals, the govern-
ment has paid an addi-
tional Rs 1.2 lakh crore
and increased the
budgetedsubsidy
.How-
ever, the steep rise in
raw material prices
has been negating this,
and another interven-
tion may be needed in
this fiscal. Not doing so
would take the subsidy
arrears to an all-time
high of over Rs 75,000
crore by end of this fis-
cal, it said.
Over 85 per cent of
the subsidy arrears
could be contributed
by urea. This is be-
cause pooled gas prices
-- a blend of domestic
gas and imported LNG
considered for billing
to fertilisers plants --
had shot up more than
75 per cent last fiscal.

STRONG RALLY
5G auction process on track,
says Ashwini Vaishnaw
New Delhi (PTI): New
Delhi: Just days after
the telecom regulator
came out with its rec-
ommendations on
spectrum pricing and
auction modalities,
Telecom Minister Ash-
wini Vaishnaw on
Thursday said that
things are moving “as
per schedule” on 5G.
The comment as-
sumes significance as
the Indian market is
gearing up for the next-
generation 5G servic-
es, that will usher in
ultra high-speeds and
spawn new-age offer-
ings and business mod-
els. The 5G spectrum
auction is expected to
be held in June-July
time frame.
To a question on
TRAI’s recent 5G rec-
ommendation and
what will be the next
course of action for the
telecom department,
Mr Vaishnaw said,
“Things are moving on
track, things are mov-
ing on 5G as per the
schedule.”
The minister de-
clined to make any spe-
cific observations on
the 5G recommenda-
tions and said, “Please
wait for few more
weeks, I think we
should be coming up
with good solution.”
Mumbai (PTI): Telecom service operator Airtel on
Thursday urged the government not to charge high
fees for allotting 5G spectrum, saying a faster roll
out of the next-generation telecommunication net-
work can have more benefits than collecting reve-
nue in upfront cost. Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman of
Bharti Enterprises which runs the country’s second
largest telco, said that there are a variety of appli-
cations across sectors ranging from healthcare to
video interactions, which will make 5G a technol-
ogy to be introduced as soon as possible. “5G is
important and that’s why we keep on requesting
the government to make the 5G as an enabler for
hundreds of things that we develop in the country,
to keep the spectrum at affordable pricing, to not
load the industry too much,”Mittal said.

Individuals seek more loans to celebrate festivals
Mumbai (PTI): Origi-

any security, doubled
during the 2021 festive

It can be noted that
typically, banks charge
higher interest rates
for such loans due to
non-availability of any

also higher in the seg-
ment.
There was an in-
crease in origination

while private sector
lenders witnessed a de-
cline for the same.
However, when com-

same for private banks
and NBFCs saw an in-
crease during the peri-
od under review, the

An MLA, who is an

was close to the to the most
powerful minister of the state
government. His say ruled in

seem not favouring the MLA. A

the industrialist MLA from

view to free the people
of the state from the
cost of treatment and to
provide better health
services, the state gov-
ernment has started an
ambitious scheme like
MukhyamantriNishulk
Nirogi Rajasthan. “Its
dry run is being done in
the state from April 1.
Officials should ensure
its effective implemen-
tation based on the sug-
gestions of the general
public by removing the
obstacles and shortcom-
ings faced during the
dry run, so that the peo-
ple get the full benefit of
the scheme with which
it has been started,” Ge-

ing the scheme and the
status of Covid infec-
tion in the state at the
Chief Minister’s resi-

While reviewing Cov-
id, Gehlot said that the
cases of covid have
started increasing
again in some states of

countries of the world.
He directed that special

MUKHYAMANTRI NISHULK NIROGI RAJASTHAN SCHEME
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot with Rajeevika brand ambassador
Dr Ruma Devi and Rajasthan Foundation Commissioner Dhiraj
Srivastava at the CMR on Thursday.
Rajasthan Foundation Commissioner Dhiraj Srivastava let
out a secret of CM and told in the event that CM Gehlot has
been fond of listening to old songs. “Transistors used to be
kept in the briefcase during the journey and CM would listen
to songs during travels. When we used to divert his mind
over files from CM, he used to ask us to wait as the song
was going on,” he said, listening to which Gehlot smiled.
Gehlot said that Rajasthan’s bureaucracy has an import-
ant role in forming a sensitive and transparent govt. “The
bureaucracy of Raj is very tactful and upholds the culture
and tradition and should also be praised. I give credit to all
the officers whose tireless efforts have made the budget
announcements come off the ground,” Gehlot said.

Jaipur: Rajasthan
government has clari-
fied that documents
dated before 31 Decem-
ber 2018 can be submit-
ted to get leases in old
settlements. UDH and
LSG have issued or-
ders according to
which applicants can
present documents
like electricity, water
bills before 31-12-2018,
voter list, house tax, or
UD tax receipt. Affida-
vits of 2 persons living
in the neighborhood
can be presented. The
affidavit shall contain
photographs of both
the persons and they
will give information
under oath about the
applicant’s residence
before 31.12.18. Based
on the document, a
freehold patta will be
issued. The depart-
ments have also issued
orders to give rights to
the empowered com-
mittee for change of
land use.
This committee will
be able to make deci-
sions on land-use
change in the local bod-
ies in which cases are
pending. The govern-
ment has also given an
exemption for the plots
under EWS and LIG cat-
egories that have been
sold in violation of con-
ditions of allotment.
The exemption has
been given in the PSKS
campaign for the trans-
fer of name. In another
order, the government

spection by officers
will not be required for
subdivision and re-
structuring of plots.
Subdivision or re-
structuring will be
done based on the site
map/photo or self-at-

campaign, patta will
also be issued for agri-

SENIOR-MOST OFFICER AUTHORIZED
FOR TECHNICAL INSPECTION
In another order, it was directed that the senior-
most engineer and town planner assistant or
senior drafter or junior drafter will be authorized for
technical inspection of the layout plan of colonies
in the local bodies in which town planners are
not available. The decision was taken because, in
some colonies, pattas could not be issued be-
cause the layout plan has not been approved. The
government’s focus in the campaign is to issue a
maximum number of leases. UDH-LSG have issued
clarification regarding leases for colonies settled on
non-agricultural lands. If the land use is different
from the master plan, then local bodies will be able
to change land use in the public interest after which
leases of colonies will be given.
KOTPUTLI AND KUCHAMAN NAGAR
PALIKAS BECOME NAGAR PARISHADS
The local self-government dept has issued a notifica-

Nagar Palika Nagar Parishads. The orders were issued
after the approval of UDH Minister Shanti Dhariwal.
PATTA FOR TEMPLES ON NON-AGRI
LANDS: STATE GOVT ISSUES ORDER
Another order was issued for giving Patta
for temples built on non-agricultural lands.
If a private temple is built on agricultural land
and not registered as a public trust of Dev-
asthan temple, then documents will be taken
and the applicant will be issued freehold patta.
Clarifications were also issued for issuing
freehold pattas in cases of land of mandi com-
mittees, relinquishment of title, unregistered
will, etc. Original documents will have to be
submitted in the local body for taking the lease
of the plot. Patta issued by the housing coop-
erative society or developer and original un-
registered documents will be submitted in the
local body. Photocopy of the registered sale
deed, gift deed and other original documents
will also be taken. On the other hand, the state
government has sought information from the
local bodies about the colonies settled on
the land affected by the Land Acquisition Act
2013. Bodies will have to send information
about such colonies to the government in the
prescribed format. UDH and LSG have also
issued orders to regularize colonies that are
settled on lands affected by acquisition but the
acquisition process is not completed.

While interacting with Union Secretaries, Prime Minister Naren- dra Modi had expressed serious concerns over continuing vacancies in various departments. Reportedly , PM had emphasizedthatemploy- ment generation should be given a high priority and should be the focus of Government inter- ventions across public and private sectors. Eve- ry industry/ Depart- ment should immediate- ly take steps to fill the existing vacancies againstsanctionedposts. As a matter of fact, there is a shortage of of- ficers at various grades under the Central Sec- retariat Service (CSS) and Central Secretariat Stenographers’ Service (CSSS) in various de- partments, thus ad- versely impacting the functioning of several Departments and ham- pering timelines and ef- fectiveness in providing the essential services to the public and ensuring good governance - one of the poll promises of NDA Govt since 2014. Taking a look at the vacancies against the aforementioned servic- es (CSS CSSS). Sourc- es say that roughly all put together hundreds and hundreds of posts are vacant in minis- tries and departments at various levels name- ly; Senior Private Secre- tary/Principal Staff Of- ficer, Under Secretary, Principal Private Secre- tary, Section Officers, Private Secretary, As- sistant Section Officers, Personnel Assistant, Stenographer ‘D’, Sen- ior Secretariat Assis- tant and Junior Secre- tariat Assistant. In last few days many Union Secretaries have started responding to Cabinet Secretariat’s letter along with the de- tails of sanctioned strength and vacancies in respective depart- ments ministries at various levels as afore- mentioned. For example the De- partment of Food and Public Distribution has written a letter to Secre- tary, DoPT requesting filling up of vacant posts; details of the va- cancies are like this:- Senior Private Secre- tary/Principal Staff Of- ficer 3 sanctioned posts with one vacancy; Un- der Secretary 31 sanc- tioned posts with 3 va- cancies; Principal Pri- vate Secretary 13 sanc- tioned posts with one vacancy; Section Offic- ers 59 sanctioned posts with 26 vacancies; Pri- vate Secretary 29 sanc- tioned posts with 13 va- cancies; Assistant Sec- tion Officers 122 sanc- tioned posts with 9 va- cancies; Personnel As- sistant with 21 sanc- tioned post with 21 va- cancies; Stenographer ‘D’ 26 sanctioned post with 6 vacancies; Sen- ior Secretariat Assis- tant 8 sanctioned post with 2 vacancies; and Junior Secretariat As- sistant 12 sanctioned posts with 6 vacancies. It may be underlined that Central Secretariat which comprises of mainly three services i.e. Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Central Secretariat Stenogra- pher Service (CSSS) and Central Secretariat Clerical Service (CSCS) is having hundreds of vacancies. The PM’s direction has provided the much- needed solace to CSS CSSS cadre officers in view of their long-pend- ing attempts at seeking decision-makers’ atten- tion to the career pros- pects and long-pending issue of promotion of CSS Cadre. They had met Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS for Personnel PMO, seeking his inter- vention and getting them justice. Though their promotional is- sues, subject to judicial outcomes, are yet to be addressed it seems that their efforts are likely to bear fruits. A section of the CSS cadre looks at the recent develop- ment (filling up vacan- cies with urgency) and presumes that their col- lective efforts have not gone unheard and their promotion issues may soon gather momentum in the backdrop of PM’s latest direction to Un- ion Secretaries. The IMF, early this week, projected a fairly robust growth of 8.2 per cent for India in 2022, making it the fastest- growing major economy in the world, almost twice faster than China’s 4.4 per cent. The global growth has been projected at 3.6 per cent in 2022, down from 6.1 per cent in 2021. “India is one of the economies that are grow- ing at a high rate. Even with the small down- grade, growth is project- ed for this year to be 8.2 percent. Healthy for In- dia, but also positive in a worldwheregrowthslow- down is creating a major problem, Georgieva told reporters at a news con- ference here on the side- lines of the annual spring meeting of the IMF and the World Bank on Wednesday . On Monday, she met the visiting Indian Fi- nance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. She said India already plays a very important international role. IMF urges India to give top priority to food security Washington (PTI): Applauding India for prioritising public in- vestment in its annual budget, the Interna- tional Monetary Fund has urged the country to prioritise food secu- rity and expand trans- fers to the vulnerable in the wake of the global economic crisis triggered by the war in Ukraine. Paolo Mauro, Depu- ty Director, Fiscal Af- fairs Department of the IMF told reporters during a news confer- ence held here on the sidelines of the annu- al Spring meeting of the IMF and the World Bank that the chal- lenges coming from the economic conse- quences of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine were quite sever. Observing that in- flation in India is somewhat elevated, he said that it is a little bit above the comfort zone for the Central Bank, which is already addressing that issue. On the fiscal front, the budget is approxi- mately neutral, which seems to be sensible at this time, he said . Given the price rise, clearly this is a situa- tion in which house- holds are feeling the pain of the situation, Mauro said. India’s move to sell oil from its stockpiles welcomed Washington (PTI): World Bank Presi- dent David Malpass has welcomed India’s move to begin selling oil from its stock- piles, asserting that the world needs to take important steps to address the cur- rent set of crises. Fertiliser subsidy set to touch a record high of `1.65 lakh cr New Delhi (ANI): The Indian government’s fertiliser subsidy bill is set to touch an all-time high of Rs 1.65 lakh crore this fiscal against Rs 1.05 lakh crore budg- eted, due to an unprec- edented rise in the cost of raw materials and prices of fertilisers globally , according to a CRISIL Ratings report. The report noted that the government has been proactive in addressing the situa- tion. In the past two fiscals, the govern- ment has paid an addi- tional Rs 1.2 lakh crore and increased the budgetedsubsidy .How- ever, the steep rise in raw material prices has been negating this, and another interven- tion may be needed in this fiscal. Not doing so would take the subsidy arrears to an all-time high of over Rs 75,000 crore by end of this fis- cal, it said. Over 85 per cent of the subsidy arrears could be contributed by urea. This is be- cause pooled gas prices -- a blend of domestic gas and imported LNG considered for billing to fertilisers plants -- had shot up more than 75 per cent last fiscal.
