‘POLITICISING’ TARGETED KILLINGS IN J-K
New Delhi (PTI): Union
MinisterAnuragThakur
has accused Delhi Chief
Minister Arvind Kejri-
wal of “politicising” the
targeted killings in Jam-
mu and Kashmir at a
timewhenallsectionsof
the society were stand-
ing firm with the people
of the Union Territory
.
“At a time when the
entirenationisstanding
shoulder to shoulder
with the people of Jam-
mu and Kashmir and
condemning the acts of
terror, Kejriwal has not
spoken a word of con-
demnation against the
separatist forces,” he
said in a statement here.
“Those who question
the valour of armed
forces and join hands
with anti-national
Khalistani forces for
the sake of power, with
what face will they con-
demn terror?” he asked.
His remarks came af-
ter AAP staged protests
in the national capital
against the killings in
Kashmir and slammed
the Union government
for the situation.
Addressing the pro-
test, the AAP supremo
alleged that the BJP
government had failed
to provide security to
Kashmiri Pandits. He
said Union Home Min-
ister Amit Shah had
failed to provide any ac-
tion plan to tackle the
situation in Kashmir.
Thakur, the informa-
tion and broadcasting
minister, accused Kejri-
wal of resorting to “low
level politics” over the
situation in Kashmir.
He said the Jana
Sangh and the BJP have
been relentlessly giving
voice to the aspirations
of the people of Jammu
and Kashmir and
fought for the abroga-
tion of Article 370 and
Article 35A.

Kuwait City: A Kuwaiti supermarket pulled Indian products
from its shelves even as Iran became the latest Middle
Eastern country to summon the Indian ambassador as a row
grew on Monday over a BJP

“Islamophobic”. Outside the
supermarket, sacks of rice and shelves of spices and chilies
were covered with plastic sheets. Printed signs in Arabic
read: “We have removed Indian products”.

Gandhi on Monday hit out at the ruling
party, alleging that its bigotry not only
isolated India, but also damaged the coun-
try’s position globally. Taking to Twitter, he
wrote: “Divided internally, India becomes
weak externally. BJP’s shameful bigotry
has not only isolated us, but also dam-
aged India’s standing globally.”

Dear readers,
Three
years ago,
this day
in 2019,
a dream
became
reality.
The seed of First India
was sown in Rajasthan
when the state was about
to undergo a change of
power. At its inception,
there was apprehension
if a Jaipur based newspa-
per would be at par with
the national newspapers
that are printed out of
the political or financial
nerve-centres of the
nation. Over the past
three years, FI’s focus on
news, its critical stand
on various government
policies along with a sup-
portive stance on policies
and schemes that have
done wonders for the
people, have made us
win the trust and acco-
lades of our readers. As
a result we step hence in
the 4th year, as gradu-
ally the seed is growing
into a ‘tree’ with our
‘branches’ in New Delhi,
Mumbai and Lucknow.
We thanks our readers
for the support and hope
to continue to hold high
their trust in us.

FAST-CHARGING STATIONS WILL COME UP AT STRATEGIC LOCATIONS
DIAL to induct 62 EVs to cut greenhouse gas emissions
New Delhi (PTI): The
Delhi airport will in-
duct 62 electric vehi-
cles in the next four
months for its airside
operations to reduce
1,000 tonnes of green-
house gas emissions
annually, its operator
DIAL said on Monday
.
The runway, taxiway
and apron that are di-
rectly involved in the
arrival and departure
of aircraft are known
as the airside area.
The Delhi Interna-
tional Airport Limited
(DIAL) on Monday
launched its Green
Transportation Pro-
gramme, under which
it has decided to intro-
duce electric vehicles
on the airside in a
phased manner.
“In the first phase,
the DIAL will launch 62
electric vehicles for its
airside operations
which will help in re-
ducing approximately
1,000 tonnes of green-
house gas emissions
annually. These vehi-
cles would be inducted
within three to four
months,” it mentioned.
The DIAL will also
install high voltage and
fast-charging stations
at strategic locations to
meet the requirements
of these vehicles and
other airport stake-
holders, the operator
said.
Under this pro-
gramme, DIAL has
worked with original
equipment manufac-
turers to make neces-
sary changes in the
electric vehicles to in-
stall airport-specific
equipment and is work-
ing closely with the air-
port stakeholders for
electric vehicle adop-
tion, it added.
In the first phase, the
DIAL will launch 62
electric vehicles for
its airside operations
which will help in
reducing around 1,000
tonnes of greenhouse
gas emissions annually.
These vehicles would
be inducted within three
to four months.
Induction is likely
in 3-4 months

New Delhi (Agencies):
Continuing its attack on
the Delhi Lieutenant
Governor over what it
has claimed interference
in the functioning of the
state government, the
Aam Aadmi Party criti-
cised VK Saxena over the
“crumbling” law and or-
der situation in the city.
The Delhi Police re-
ports to the Union home
ministry through the
lieutenant governor.
In the first friction be-
tween the AAP govern-
ment and the L-G, the
AAP on Wednesday had
objected to a meeting
that Saxena held with of-
ficial of the Delhi Jal
Board (DJB). Then, on
Friday, the party said
that the LG was overstep-
ping his duties when the
latter visited jal board
facilities and the Najaf-
garh drain.
Addressing a press
conference, AAP leader
Atishi asked the L-G
what has he done in the
last 10 days to improve
the law and order situa-
tion or the functioning
of the Delhi Police even
as many heinous crime
incidents have taken
place after he assumed
office on May 26.
“It appears that the
Central government has
advised you to avoid deal-
ing with the Delhi Police
in any matter – as if it is
not your responsibility
to deal with the Delhi Po-
lice, to fix it, or to en-
hance the legal system,”
Atishi said.
The L-G did not offer
a comment on the
AAP’s allegations.
A Delhi police spokes-
person denied allega-
tions that crime was in-
creasing in the city. He
said that there were no
incidents of organised
crime in the in the last
few days. “In most cases,
we have solved the
crimes in record time.
For example, in the
Sangam Vihar case, the
accused was arrested
within 20 hours. In one
case, a man murdered
his friend. That person
too was arrested at the
earliest. In one stabbing
case, the accused persons
were arrested within 12
hours. These are usual
crimes that happen every
year. In fact, our police
teams have made new re-
cords in arresting ac-
cused within hours,” the
spokesperson said.
Delhi BJP spokesper-
son Praveen Shankar
Kapoor said the Kejri-
wal government is frus-
trated because its short-
comings are getting ex-
posed by the visits of
L-G, and added that to
divert public attention
Atishi is raising law
and order issues.
A Delhi police spokesperson denied allegations
that crime was increasing in the city. He said that
there were no incidents of organised crime in
the in the last few days. “In most cases, we have
solved the crimes in record time. For example, in
the Sangam Vihar case, the accused was arrested
within 20 hours. In one case, a man murdered
his friend. That person too was arrested at the
earliest. In one stabbing case, the accused per-
sons were arrested within 12 hours. These are
usual crimes that happen every year.
In fact, our police teams have
made new records in arrest-
ing accused within hours,”
the spokesperson said.
CRIME IS NOT ON THE
INCREASE: DELHI POLICE
New Delhi: The Delhi
forest department
granted permission to
cut or transplant at
least 77,000 trees, or
three trees every hour,
for developmental
works in the city in the
last three years, accord-
ing to government data
submitted to the high
court recently
.
It also said only one-
third of the trees trans-
planted during the pe-
riod have survived.
Officials allowed
agencies to cut or trans-
plant 29,946 trees under
section 9 of the Delhi
Preservation of Trees
Act (DPTA) and 47,474
trees under section 29
of the Act in the last
three years.
The actual number of
trees felled could be
much more if the num-
ber of trees cut illegally
is also considered, envi-
ronment activists said.
They also feared that
the project proponents
cut more trees than al-
lowed over the years.
The data has been
submitted in response
to orders on a contempt
plea filed by RTI activ-
ist Neeraj Sharma
through advocate Adi-
tya N Prasad against
the concretisation of
trees in east Delhi’s Vi-
kas Marg area.
Section 9 of the Act
says anyone desiring to
remove a tree should
file an application be-
fore the tree officer con-
cerned for permission
with ownership docu-
ments of the land and
the girth measure of
trees at a height of 1.85
metres from the ground
level. Section 29 empow-
ers the government to
exempt “any area or
any species of trees”
from the Act in public
interest through a noti-
fication.
According to the
data, authorities in the
West forest division
granted permission to
cut 8,953 trees and
transplant 13,486 trees,
the maximum among
all forest divisions in
the capital, in the last
three years.
The forest depart-
ment granted permis-
sion to cut 2,866 trees
and transplant 701
trees in the Central for-
est division during the
period.
Officials allowed
agencies to cut 689 trees
and transplant 269 trees
in the North forest divi-
sion.
One-third of the
trees transplanted
during the period

New Delhi: In deciding
the Rajya Sabha candi-
date, there has been an
amazing ‘check-mate’
politics going on be-
tween the BJP and its
ally JDU in Bihar. JDU
leader and Chief Minis-
ter Nitish Kumar had
given a very clear indi-
cation that he is not go-
ing to give ticket to the
Union Minister and Ra-
jya Sabha MP of his
party - RCP Singh. Then
there was talk that BJP
can give ticket to RCP,
but the BJP did not want
to upset Nitish under
any circumstances. The
BJP was apprehensive
that Nitish was betting
on the BJP on the pre-
text of RCP and if the
BJP took any step in re-
sponse, Nitish might
once again go with the
RJD. That is why BJP
too ignored RCP
.
Despite this, BJP took
care of politics and gave
ticket to Shambhu
Sharan Patel. Shambhu
Sharan Patel is not an
old leader associated
with any Sangh or BJP,
rather he was earlier in
JDU. But his most strik-
ing feature is that he
comes from the Dhanuk
caste, which is similar
to the Kurmi caste of
both the CM and RCP.
The majority of the pop-
ulation in the Kurmi
community is of Dha-
nuks. BJP played a gam-
ble by giving ticket from
a member of that com-
munity
. Nitish Kumar
countered BJP’s move
and gave ticket to JDU’s
Jharkhand president
Khiru Mahto. He is also
Kurmi and will work for
the politics of around 17
per cent Kurmi popula-
tion of Jharkhand. BJP
practices Kurmi politics
in Jharkhand through
its ally Sudesh Mahto’s
AJSU.NowJDUhasalso
played its hand there.
Will Nitish accomplish his vision of countering BJP?

NEVER FORGET THAT YOUR
LIFE IS OF LIMITED TIME
ntrepreneurs, Employees,
and Students live in a con-
tinuously stressful life, in
today’s highly competitive
era. Entrepreneurs want to
achieve those turnovers and
profit numbers. Corporate
executives want to complete
those targets. Students want
to get good marks. House-
wives have to continuously
work for the ambition of hus-
band and children. At this
time one question arises, is
the purpose of our life just to
achieve ambitions like profit,
money, designation, good
scores? Let me give you an
example of a small event.
Oneverytensepersoncame
to a very well known monk.
The monk asked him the rea-
son for coming. The person
said “I am living a very trou-
bled life. I am working very
hard. I am working almost 18
hours a day
. I am constantly
engaged with thoughts of
workthewholeday
,justsothat
I could be superior to my col-
leagues. But still, my col-
leagues are one step ahead of
me even today
. I can’t achieve
myambition.Mywifeandchil-
dren are offended of me be-
cause I don’t have time to
spend with them. Please show
me the path for a successful
and happy life.” The monk lis-
tened to him very quietly and
asked him to come the next
morning at the bank of the
river. Second-day early morn-
ing that person came to the
bank of the river. Monk was
already present there. Monk
tookhimintotheriverandtold
him to dive into it. With lots of
amazement, the person did so.
As he drowned his head
into the water suddenly
monk grabbed his head from
the neck and kept it sub-
merged in water. The person
started panicking. He could
not even breathe properly
. As
the person was about to die,
the monk took his head out
of the water. The person was
so angry he started saying
bad words to the monk.
But the monk asked him
humbly “What did you expe-
rience while drowning in the
water?” The person replied,
“I could just think about how
I can save my life” The Monk
smiled and said “God has
given you such a beautiful
life. Only one thing is pre-
decided and yet unknown
and that is, the time of your
death. Then why so many
ambitions and why are you
living a life full of stress?
At that time that person got
true guidance and after that
started living his life happily
.
The ultimate moral is god
gifted this valuable life to us
only for one time. So, all of us
should appreciate our life
and enjoy it with maximum
happiness. We should keep
the stress of small problems
aside and should try to live
an excellent life.
PRESENTING A FEW
POINTS BELOW

z Workload should be limited
to our office time only. There
is no need to bring work-
stress to home. Time after
office hours are for family
and friends so use it wisely

z Similarly, there is also no
need to bring the stress
of home to the office also.
While being at office you
should keep your focus at
work at a 100 percent. Try to
give your best and you will
surely get success.

z Whether you are a student or
a housewife, there is no need
to take unnecessary stress.
Whatever you do, do it with
a cheerful mind. Low grades
don’t matter, what matters is
your intelligence and ardor,
which will help you in identi-
fying new directions.

z Never forget that your life is of
limited time. So work in such a
way that the society and your
friends will remember you.

refer to postings in
these states as punish-
ment posting or com-
pulsion posting. But in
reality these two areas
are the most sensitive
areas for India. China
has an eye on both
Ladakh and Arunachal
Pradesh and its sol-
diers keep infiltrating
these areas every day.
China is trying to
change the geography
of these two areas and
is also plotting to
change the population
structure or regional
structure. Therefore, it
is extremely dangerous
proposition if such a
sensitive state is being
made a dumping
ground as a punish-
ment posting. As a rule,
only the best of the best
officers should be sent
to these two areas.
Are Ladakh and Arunachal regions now only a dumping ground of officials?

Mumbai (PTI): Credit
ratings agency Icra on
Monday revised up-
ward its projection of
international air pas-
senger traffic at Indian
airports at 80-85% of
the pre-pandemic vol-
umes during this fiscal.
The volume of such
travellers has already
touched 72% of the pre-
Covid level in May
.
The steep recovery in
international passen-
gers’ demand came on
the back of resumption
of scheduled flight op-
erations in late March
in the wake of easing of
travel restrictions
norms and resilient
passenger demand.
Major destinations
driving the internation-
al traffic demand are
Southeast Asia, the
Middle East and Eu-
rope, it said.
Commercial opera-
tions of international
flights resumed on
March 27 after a hiatus
of two years amid COV-
ID-19 pandemic. During
that period internation-
al operations were lim-
ited to countries
through special flights
under the ‘Vande
Bharat Mission’ and bi-
lateral ‘air transport
bubble’ agreements
with several countries.
The ramp-up is
healthy with interna-
tional passenger traffic
reaching 63% and 72%
of pre-Covid levels
(similar period in 2019)
in April and May, re-
spectively, this year
compared to the recov-
ery of less than 50% to
that of pre-pandemic
levels during FY22, the
ratings agency said.
Icra said it also ex-
pects the ramp-up in the
overall passenger traf-
fic to 96-97% of the pre-
Covid levels in FY23 on
the back of a strong and
sharp recovery in do-
mestic passenger traffic
and the resumption of
international commer-
cial operations.
The recovery in do-
mestic passenger traffic
was strong post-Omi-
cron and has reached
98% of pre-Covid levels
in April and May, it
said, adding, overall,
passenger traffic has
reached 93% of pre-
Covid levels in May
.
“Resumption of in-
ternational commercial
operations has acceler-
ated the traffic recov-
ery. Considering the
healthy ramp-up in in-
ternational traffic in
the last two months,
Icra expects interna-
tional traffic to reach
80-85% of the pre-Covid
level in FY23 as against
earlier estimates of 70-
75%,” said Abhishek
Lahoti, senior analyst,
for corporate ratings at
Icra. Further, as expect-
ed, the recovery of do-
mestic passenger traffic
was sharp and much
faster post-Omicron, he
said.

WORK FROM HOME IS

Kolkata (PTI): As
WorkfromHome(WFH)
has become a reality
post-Covid-19 pandem-
ic, there is an increased
demand for functional
and flexible spaces that
canaccommodatework-
space conveniently lo-
cated in urban centres
for easy access of the
employees, according to
CIRIL. It is not the only
business that is looking
for more resilience
through flexible forms
of real estate, property
developers and land-
lords also are seeking a
sustained model of cre-
ating a need-based eco-
system for future of
work where hybrid
models of working are
becoming norms.
With the prospect of
more workforce and of-
fice workers taking up
remote or flexible work
practices, building oc-
cupancy rates may de-
crease in short term but
a few segments such as
co-working and flexible
spaces are going to be
the main demand driv-

it said. Developers and
corporates have to work
in tandem to address
the needs of the hybrid
work culture through
augmentation of exist-

RUSSIAN FM WARNS WEST OVER LONG-RANGE ROCKETS
Moscow (AP): The
Russian foreign minis-
ter has warned the
West that if it provides
Ukraine with long-
range rockets, Moscow
will respond by taking
over larger areas of
Ukraine.
Speaking during an
online news confer-
ence Monday, Sergey
Lavrov said, “The long-
er the range of weap-
ons you supply, the far-
ther away the line from
where neo-Nazis could
threaten the Russian
Federation will be
pushed.”
The US and Britain
have announced they
will provide Ukraine
with multiple rocket-
launchers capable of
striking targets up to
80 kilometers (50 miles)
away
.
The systems are ca-
pable of firing longer
range rockets that can
hit areas of up to 300
kilometers (186 miles)
away, but US said it
wouldn’t supply the
rockets.
Asked how Moscow
would respond if the
US and its allies change
their mind and provide
Ukraine with long-
range rockets, Russian
President Vladimir Pu-
tin said in televised
comments Sunday that
Moscow will draw ap-
propriate conclusions
and use our strike
means, which we have
plenty of, in order to
hit the facilities that
we haven’t struck yet.
Putin has warned Moscow would hit new targets if the West supplies Ukraine with long-range missiles

Nupur Sharma &
Naveen Jindal
New Delhi (PTI): AAP
leader and Delhi Depu-
ty Chief Minister Man-
ish Sisodia on Monday
alleged the BJP has led
the country to such a
situation that even
“small countries are
now challenging the
great nation of India”.
Sisodia claimed that
every Indian is pained
by it and “the sorrow is
endless”.
Sisodia’s remarks
came after the Organi-
sation of Islamic Coop-
eration (OIC) slammed
India for comments by
two BJP functionaries
against Prophet Mo-
hammad and even urged
the UN to take necessary
measures to ensure that
the rights of Muslims
are protected. Saudi
Arabia, Qatar, Iran and
Kuwait expressed their
condemnation of the
controversial remarks
against the Prophet and
called for “respect for
beliefs and religions.”
Pakistan summoned
the Indian charg
d’affaires to convey its
categorical rejection
and condemnation of
the controversial re-
marks by the two BJP
leaders.
As the row escalated
both domestically and
abroad, the BJP on Sun-
day suspended its na-
tional spokesperson Nu-
pur Sharma and ex-
pelled its Delhi media
head Naveen Kumar
Jindal.
‘Jai Shri Ram’, says
Jindal a day after being
expelled from BJP
New Delhi (PTI): A
day after being expelled
from the BJP over his
controversial remarks
against Prophet Mo-
hammad, party’s former
Delhi media head
Naveen Kumar Jindal
on Monday described
himself as a “proud Hin-
du” and greeted his sup-
porters on Twitter with
‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Jindal said his pri-
mary concern at present
was protecting himself
and his family as inces-
sant death threats were
pouring in on social me-
dia from within the
country and abroad.
“I have submitted a
complaint to the police
demanding my security
cover back. I have faith
in Banke Bihari and he
will help me pass
through this difficult
times,” Jindal told PTI.
On Sunday, the com-
munication from Delhi
BJP chief Adesh Gupta
to Jindal said his views
on social media vitiate
communal harmony
and are in violation of
the party’s fundamental
beliefs. He has acted
against the party’s poli-
cies and ideology
, Gupta
had said.
“Your primary mem-
bership is immediately
terminated and you are
expelled from the par-
ty,” Gupta had said in
the communication.
Jindal had come un-
der attack on social me-
dia after his tweet about
Prophet Mohammad on
June 1.
Jindal said that he
had tweeted asking a
question to those at-
tacking and insulting
Hindu deities and it
was not aimed at hurt-
ing the religious senti-
ments of any commu-
nity. Jindal, a former
journalist with over
two decades of experi-
ence, has attracted con-
troversy through his
social media posts in
the past too.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia claimed that every Indian is pained by it and “the
sorrow is endless”.

‘BJP FORCED TO ACT
AGAINST PARTY
FUNCTIONARIES’
New Delhi (PTI): Left
parties on Monday alleged
the BJP was “forced to act”
and suspend its national
spokesperson Nupur
Sharma for her contro-
versial remarks against
Prophet Muhammed due to
pressure from other coun-
tries. The BJP on Sunday
suspended Sharma and ex-
pelled its Delhi media head
Naveen Kumar Jindal, with
some Muslim countries
registering their protest and
violence in Kanpur. CPI-M
general secretary Sitaram
Yechury questioned how
BJP leaders speaking on
behalf of the party can be
called “fringe elements.”
WHY ARE MUSLIM COUNTRIES SILENT ON
CHINA, ASKS A SECTION OF ACTIVISTS
New Delhi (PTI): A section of activists and experts on Mon-
day questioned the “silence”’ of Muslim nations on China’s
treatment of minorities and
alleged violation of human
rights there after some of
these countries lodged a
protest with India over the
remarks of two BJP func-
tionaries on Prophet Mohammad. The row over the alleged
derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad escalated
on Sunday with protests from countries like Saudi Arabia, Ku-
wait, Qatar and Iran, prompting the BJP to take action against
its functionaries and assert that it respects all religions.
DELHI POLICE REGISTERS FIR AFTER NUPUR
SHARMA ALLEGES DEATH THREATS
New Delhi (PTI): The Delhi Police has registered an FIR on
a complaint by Nupur Sharma in which the suspended BJP
spokesperson alleged that
she is receiving death threats
after her remarks on Prophet
Mohammad, officials said on
Monday. “Based on the FIR,
we have initiated a probe
into the matter,” a senior police official said. Sharma’s com-
ments, made during a TV debate nearly 10 days ago, and
Jindal’s now-deleted tweets sparked a Twitter trend calling
for a boycott of Indian products in some countries.

that the varsity has

Professor Sanjeev

versity’s paperless
initiative.
He said that the
university is paper-
less except for cer-
tain operations,
where it is difficult
to completely switch
from paper to on-
line, he said.
“On the surface
and administrative
level, we are paper-
less. But in nuances
we cannot say it is
completely paper-
less because several
processes like ex-
amination and
mark sheet require
paper printing,”
Singh said.
Though its digital
version is available,
there is a require-
ment for a print ver-
sion. Attestation of
the documents and
all other notifica-
tions have to be
printed,” he added.
Even though the
process to shift all
university’s opera-
tions online started
around 2016, the ini-
tiative picked up
pace only in the last
six months, during
which most major
operations were
linked to E-Samarth.

The government on Monday fought to de- fuse anger in Gulf countries and opposi- tion attacks at home over comments on Prophet Muhammad by two BJP leaders. India on Monday slammed comments by OIC as "narrow-mind- ed", "motivated, mis- leading and mischie- vous". Reacting to re- marks by OIC, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said India ac- cords "highest respect" to all religions and that the statement by 57-member grouping exposed its "divisive agenda" which is being pursued at the behest of "vested interests." OIC also urged UN to take necessary measures to ensure that rights of Muslims are protected in India. External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi KUWAIT SUPERMARKET PULLS INDIAN PRODUCTS Kuwait City: A Kuwaiti supermarket pulled Indian products from its shelves even as Iran became the latest Middle Eastern country to summon the Indian ambassador as a row grew on Monday over a BJP official’s remarks about the Prophet Mohammed. Outside the supermarket, sacks of rice and shelves of spices and chilies were covered with plastic sheets. Printed signs in Arabic read: “We have removed Indian products”. Dear readers, Three years ago, this day in 2019, a dream became reality. The seed of First India was sown in Rajasthan when the state was about to undergo a change of power. At its inception, there was apprehension if a Jaipur based newspa- per would be at par with the national newspapers that are printed out of the political or financial nerve-centres of the nation. Over the past three years, FI’s focus on news, its critical stand on various government policies along with a sup- portive stance on policies and schemes that have done wonders for the people, have made us win the trust and acco- lades of our readers. As a result we step hence in the 4th year, as gradu- ally the seed is growing into a ‘tree’ with our ‘branches’ in New Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow. The runway, taxiway and apron that are di- rectly involved in the arrival and departure of aircraft are known as the airside area. The Delhi Interna- tional Airport Limited (DIAL) on Monday launched its Green Transportation Pro- gramme, under which it has decided to intro- duce electric vehicles on the airside in a phased manner. “In the first phase, the DIAL will launch 62 electric vehicles for its airside operations which will help in re- ducing approximately 1,000 tonnes of green- house gas emissions annually. New Delhi (Agencies): Continuing its attack on the Delhi Lieutenant Governor over what it has claimed interference in the functioning of the state government, the Aam Aadmi Party criti- cised VK Saxena over the “crumbling” law and or- der situation in the city. The Delhi Police re- ports to the Union home ministry through the lieutenant governor. In the first friction be- tween the AAP govern- ment and the L-G, the AAP on Wednesday had objected to a meeting that Saxena held with of- ficial of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB). Then, on Friday, the party said that the LG was overstep- ping his duties when the latter visited jal board facilities and the Najaf- garh drain. Addressing a press conference, AAP leader Atishi asked the L-G what has he done in the last 10 days to improve the law and order situa- tion or the functioning of the Delhi Police even as many heinous crime incidents have taken place after he assumed office on May 26. “It appears that the Central government has advised you to avoid deal- ing with the Delhi Police in any matter – as if it is not your responsibility to deal with the Delhi Po- lice, to fix it, or to en- hance the legal system,” Atishi said. The L-G did not offer a comment on the AAP’s allegations. A Delhi police spokes- person denied allega- tions that crime was in- creasing in the city. He said that there were no incidents of organised crime in the in the last few days. “In most cases, we have solved the crimes in record time. For example, in the Sangam Vihar case, the accused was arrested within 20 hours. In one case, a man murdered his friend. That person too was arrested at the earliest. In one stabbing case, the accused persons were arrested within 12 hours. These are usual crimes that happen every year. In fact, our police teams have made new re- cords in arresting ac- cused within hours,” the spokesperson said. Delhi BJP spokesper- son Praveen Shankar Kapoor said the Kejri- wal government is frus- trated because its short- comings are getting ex- posed by the visits of L-G, and added that to divert public attention Atishi is raising law and order issues. A Delhi police spokesperson denied allegations that crime was increasing in the city. He said that there were no incidents of organised crime in the in the last few days. “In most cases, we have solved the crimes in record time. CRIME IS NOT ON THE INCREASE: DELHI POLICE New Delhi: The Delhi forest department granted permission to cut or transplant at least 77,000 trees, or three trees every hour, for developmental works in the city in the last three years, accord- ing to government data submitted to the high court recently . It also said only one- third of the trees trans- planted during the pe- riod have survived. Officials allowed agencies to cut or trans- plant 29,946 trees under section 9 of the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act (DPTA) and 47,474 trees under section 29 of the Act in the last three years. The actual number of trees felled could be much more if the num- ber of trees cut illegally is also considered, envi- ronment activists said. They also feared that the project proponents cut more trees than al- lowed over the years. The data has been submitted in response to orders on a contempt plea filed by RTI activ- ist Neeraj Sharma through advocate Adi- tya N Prasad against the concretisation of trees in east Delhi’s Vi- kas Marg area. Section 9 of the Act says anyone desiring to remove a tree should file an application be- fore the tree officer con- cerned for permission with ownership docu- ments of the land and the girth measure of trees at a height of 1.85 metres from the ground level. Section 29 empow- ers the government to exempt “any area or any species of trees” from the Act in public interest through a noti- fication. According to the data, authorities in the West forest division granted permission to cut 8,953 trees and transplant 13,486 trees, the maximum among all forest divisions in the capital, in the last three years. The forest depart- ment granted permis- sion to cut 2,866 trees and transplant 701 trees in the Central for- est division during the period. Officials allowed agencies to cut 689 trees and transplant 269 trees in the North forest divi- sion. One-third of the trees transplanted during the period have survived —REPRESENTATIVE IMAGE

JDU leader and Chief Minis- ter Nitish Kumar had given a very clear indi- cation that he is not go- ing to give ticket to the Union Minister and Ra- jya Sabha MP of his party - RCP Singh. Then there was talk that BJP can give ticket to RCP, but the BJP did not want to upset Nitish under any circumstances. The BJP was apprehensive that Nitish was betting on the BJP on the pre- text of RCP and if the BJP took any step in re- sponse, Nitish might once again go with the RJD. That is why BJP too ignored RCP . Despite this, BJP took care of politics and gave ticket to Shambhu Sharan Patel. Shambhu Sharan Patel is not an old leader associated with any Sangh or BJP, rather he was earlier in JDU. But his most strik- ing feature is that he comes from the Dhanuk caste, which is similar to the Kurmi caste of both the CM and RCP. The majority of the pop- ulation in the Kurmi community is of Dha- nuks. BJP played a gam- ble by giving ticket from a member of that com- munity . Nitish Kumar countered BJP’s move and gave ticket to JDU’s Jharkhand president Khiru Mahto. He is also Kurmi and will work for the politics of around 17 per cent Kurmi popula- tion of Jharkhand. BJP practices Kurmi politics in Jharkhand through its ally Sudesh Mahto’s AJSU.NowJDUhasalso played its hand there. Accord- ing to the information received, Rahul Gandhi will reach Chandigarh by flight tomorrow morning. After that, he will go to the village of Moose Wala,” a source said. Earlier on Monday, former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot visited Moose Wala’s house. Punjab Police last week reconstituted Spe- cial Investigation Team (SIT) to expedite the in- vestigations in the mur- der of Shubhdeep Sin- gh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moose Wala. According to the let- ter accessed by The In- dian Express, the “like- ly targets of execution could be Bathinda jail, Ferozepur jail, Amrit- sar jail or Ludhiana jail”. The development comes few days after Punjab witnessed back- to-back incidents of vi- olence and security breach, allegedly planned and executed by the gangsters operat- ing from abroad with the help of local crimi- nals, including murder of kabaddi player Sand- eep Singh Nangal Am- bian on March 14, RPG attack on police intelli- gence. Entrepreneurs want to achieve those turnovers and profit numbers. Corporate executives want to complete those targets. Students want to get good marks. House- wives have to continuously work for the ambition of hus- band and children. At this time one question arises, is the purpose of our life just to achieve ambitions like profit, money, designation, good scores? Let me give you an example of a small event. Oneverytensepersoncame to a very well known monk. The monk asked him the rea- son for coming. The person said “I am living a very trou- bled life. I am working very hard. I am working almost 18 hours a day . I am constantly engaged with thoughts of workthewholeday ,justsothat I could be superior to my col- leagues. But still, my col- leagues are one step ahead of me even today . I can’t achieve myambition.Mywifeandchil- dren are offended of me be- cause I don’t have time to spend with them. Please show me the path for a successful and happy life.” The monk lis- tened to him very quietly and asked him to come the next morning at the bank of the river. Second-day early morn- ing that person came to the bank of the river. Monk was already present there. Monk tookhimintotheriverandtold him to dive into it. With lots of amazement, the person did so. As he drowned his head into the water suddenly monk grabbed his head from the neck and kept it sub- merged in water. The person started panicking. He could not even breathe properly . As the person was about to die, the monk took his head out of the water. The person was so angry he started saying bad words to the monk. But the monk asked him humbly “What did you expe- rience while drowning in the water?” The person replied, “I could just think about how I can save my life” The Monk smiled and said “God has given you such a beautiful life. Only one thing is pre- decided and yet unknown and that is, the time of your death. Then why so many ambitions and why are you living a life full of stress? At that time that person got true guidance and after that started living his life happily . The ultimate moral is god gifted this valuable life to us only for one time. So, all of us should appreciate our life and enjoy it with maximum happiness. We should keep the stress of small problems aside and should try to live an excellent life. PRESENTING A FEW POINTS BELOW z Workload should be limited to our office time only. There is no need to bring work- stress to home. Time after office hours are for family and friends so use it wisely z Similarly, there is also no need to bring the stress of home to the office also. While being at office you should keep your focus at work at a 100 percent. Try to give your best and you will surely get success. z Whether you are a student or a housewife, there is no need to take unnecessary stress. Whatever you do, do it with a cheerful mind. Low grades don’t matter, what matters is your intelligence and ardor, which will help you in identi- fying new directions. z Never forget that your life is of limited time. So work in such a way that the society and your friends will remember you. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL E But the monk asked him humbly “What did you experience while drowning in the water?” The person replied, “I could just think about how I can save my life” The Monk smiled and said “God has given you such a beautiful life. Only one thing is pre-decided and yet unknown and that is, the time of your death. Then why so many ambitions and why are you living a life full of stress? Corporate executives want to complete those targets. Students want to get good marks. Housewives have to continuously work for the ambition of husband and children. Mahesh Sharma New Delhi: The story of the ‘dog walker’ IAS couple is a much dis- cussed topic these days, not just in bureaucrat- ic circles but in the gen- eral public too. The ‘dog walker’ IAS cou- ple, it is alleged, used to vacate the Thyagaraj Stadium in Delhi for ‘morning walk’. Ath- letes exercising and practicing in the stadi- um were asked to va- cate the stadium before 7:30 so that the officials could walk around with the dog. An Eng- lish newspaper re- vealed this and in a hurry, the government transferred both of them and sent the hus- band to Ladakh and the wife to Arunachal Pradesh. This decision of the government was highly praised in social media and a lot of memes were also made. But the question is whether both have been sent to Ladakh andArunachalPradesh as punishment for a big mistake? Officers liv- ing in Delhi generally refer to postings in these states as punish- ment posting or com- pulsion posting. But in reality these two areas are the most sensitive areas for India. China has an eye on both Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh and its sol- diers keep infiltrating these areas every day. China is trying to change the geography of these two areas and is also plotting to change the population structure or regional structure. Therefore, it is extremely dangerous proposition if such a sensitive state is being made a dumping ground as a punish- ment posting. As a rule, only the best of the best officers should be sent to these two areas. Are Ladakh and Arunachal regions now only a dumping ground of officials? Mumbai (PTI): Credit ratings agency Icra on Monday revised up- ward its projection of international air pas- senger traffic at Indian airports at 80-85% of the pre-pandemic vol- umes during this fiscal. The volume of such travellers has already touched 72% of the pre- Covid level in May . The steep recovery in international passen- gers’ demand came on the back of resumption of scheduled flight op- erations in late March in the wake of easing of travel restrictions norms and resilient passenger demand. Major destinations driving the internation- al traffic demand are Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Eu- rope, it said. Commercial opera- tions of international flights resumed on March 27 after a hiatus of two years amid COV- ID-19 pandemic. During that period internation- al operations were lim- ited to countries through special flights under the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ and bi- lateral ‘air transport bubble’ agreements with several countries. The ramp-up is healthy with interna- tional passenger traffic reaching 63% and 72% of pre-Covid levels (similar period in 2019) in April and May, re- spectively, this year compared to the recov- ery of less than 50% to that of pre-pandemic levels during FY22, the ratings agency said. Icra said it also ex- pects the ramp-up in the overall passenger traf- fic to 96-97% of the pre- Covid levels in FY23 on the back of a strong and sharp recovery in do- mestic passenger traffic and the resumption of international commer- cial operations. The recovery in do- mestic passenger traffic was strong post-Omi- cron and has reached 98% of pre-Covid levels in April and May, it said, adding, overall, passenger traffic has reached 93% of pre- Covid levels in May . “Resumption of in- ternational commercial operations has acceler- ated the traffic recov- ery. Considering the healthy ramp-up in in- ternational traffic in the last two months, Icra expects interna- tional traffic to reach 80-85% of the pre-Covid level in FY23 as against earlier estimates of 70- 75%,” said Abhishek Lahoti, senior analyst, for corporate ratings at Icra. Further, as expect- ed, the recovery of do- mestic passenger traffic was sharp and much faster post-Omicron, he said. Sisodia’s remarks came after the Organi- sation of Islamic Coop- eration (OIC) slammed India for comments by two BJP functionaries against Prophet Mo- hammad and even urged the UN to take necessary measures to ensure that the rights of Muslims are protected. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran and Kuwait expressed their condemnation of the controversial remarks against the Prophet and called for “respect for beliefs and religions.” Pakistan summoned the Indian charg d’affaires to convey its categorical rejection and condemnation of the controversial re- marks by the two BJP leaders. I have faith in Banke Bihari and he will help me pass through this difficult times,” Jindal told PTI. Jindal had come un- der attack on social me- dia after his tweet about Prophet Mohammad on June 1. CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury questioned how BJP leaders speaking on behalf of the party can be called “fringe elements.” WHY ARE MUSLIM COUNTRIES SILENT ON CHINA, ASKS A SECTION OF ACTIVISTS New Delhi (PTI): A section of activists and experts on Mon- day questioned the “silence”’ of Muslim nations on China’s treatment of minorities and alleged violation of human rights there after some of these countries lodged a protest with India over the remarks of two BJP func- tionaries on Prophet Mohammad. Naveen Kumar Jindal, Delhi media head New Delhi (PTI): The Delhi Universi- ty (DU) has gone al- most paperless with the majority of its operations, includ- ing those relating to administrative and accounts depart- ments, now linked to the varsity’s E- Samarth’ portal, a senior varsity offi- cial said on Monday . The official said that the varsity has been successful in making most of the processes, like ad- mission and exami- nation, online. “We have linked administrative and accounting work to Samarth in the last few months. We are in the process to link everything to Samarth. We are successful in mak- ing most of our pro- cesses online,” said Professor Sanjeev Singh, Joint Dean, Admission, who also heads the uni- versity’s paperless initiative. He said that the university is paper- less except for cer- tain operations, where it is difficult to completely switch from paper to on- line, he said. “On the surface and administrative level, we are paper- less. But in nuances we cannot say it is completely paper- less because several processes like ex- amination and mark sheet require paper printing,” Singh said. Though its digital version is available, there is a require- ment for a print ver- sion. Attestation of the documents and all other notifica- tions have to be printed,” he added. Even though the process to shift all university’s opera- tions online started around 2016, the ini- tiative picked up pace only in the last six months, during which most major operations were linked to E-Samarth.
