New Delhi: An army of-
ficer and four other sol-
diers were killed in ac-
tion during an encoun-
ter between security
forces and terrorists in
Jammu and Kashmir’s
Poonch district on Mon-
day
, officials said.
Sources said a heavy
gunfight was underway
in the Surankote area
with at least four to five
heavily armed terror-
ists who crossed into the
country a few days ago.
The anti-insurgency
operation was launched
in a village close to Dera
Ki Gali in the early
hours following intelli-
gence inputs about their
presence, they said.
The hiding terrorists
fired on the search par-
ties resulting in a fierce
gunfight and critical
injuries to a Junior
Commissioned Officer
or JCO and four other
soldiers. They died
from their injuries.
Defence officials said
there were reports
about the presence of a
group of heavily-armed
terrorists in the Cham-
rer forest, after they
managed to sneak from
across Line of Control a
few days ago. —ANI

EXPERTSPEAK
Some defence experts had predicted a spike in armed
insurgency in the valley while a few were of the
view that Kashmir’s militancy will receive a psychologi-
cal boost from the fact that the Afghan fighters have
succeeded in throwing out two big foreign powers
from their soil in four decades. The ripple effect of US
troops' withdrawal from Afghanistan is making itself
felt in Jammu and Kashmir as intelligence agencies say
at least six groups of terrorists have infiltrated the
Valley with some high value targets on their agenda.

blaming each other for
the situation. While In-

na’s unilateral attempts
to alter the status quo,
China said that India
should cherish the hard-
won situation.
“The Indian side
pointed out that the
situation along the LAC
had been caused by uni-
lateral attempts of Chi-
nese side to alter the
status quo and in viola-
tion of the bilateral
agreements. It was
therefore necessary
that the Chinese side
take appropriate steps
in the remaining areas
so as to restore peace

“The meeting thus
did not result in resolu-
tion of the remaining
areas,” Army stated.

INDIRECT TAXES ON
FUEL PRICES ARE
HIGH, BUT GOVT IS IN
NO MOOD TO WORRY
rices of petrol, mus-
tard oil and vegeta-
bles are on fire. So is
the price of LPG. As
there’s hardly a mur-
mur about how the middle class
is burdened with the high cost of
living, one can assume that peo-
ple are satisfied, if not happy,
with the situation. The Reserve
Bank of India’s monetary policy
committee has lowered its retail
inflation projection from 5.7 per-
cent to 5.3 percent. The RBI
found the inflation trajectory
more satisfactory than expected.
Shaktikanta Das, the RBI Gover-
nor, maintained that the central
bank would work to achieve its
goal of 4 percent inflation.
The Governor did voice con-
cern over the impact of high
indirect tax on fuel on inflation
and said it was for the govern-
ment to take a decision on that.
Going by the recent hike in fuel
prices, the government appears
in no mood to lower the taxes.
On its part the government is
more concerned about the GDP
and meeting fiscal challenges.
P
his year’s Nobel
peace prize going
to two journalists
must have come
as a shock to
many as those speaking
against corruption and mis-
rule are branded as sickular
or pseudo-intellectual and by
various other names. The un-
lucky ones like Maltese jour-
nalist Daphne Anne Caruana
Galizia and Russia’s Anna
Politkovskaya and others
like them are bumped off by
authoritarian governments.
The environment not only in
India but also in many other
countries is not conducive
for journalists to pursue
their trade without fear or
favour as free speech is gen-
erally abhorred.
Journalist Maria Ressa of
the Philippines has the cour-
age to write against her
country’s dictator Rodrigo
Duterte’s “controversial,
murderous anti-drug cam-
paign”. She has relentlessly
exposed corruption in the
government through her
digital media platform ‘Rap-
pler’. For her courageous
work she was convicted for
libel and jailed. She is out on
bail but shows no sign of giv-
ing up her journalism of
courage. Her digital platform
has documented instances of
how social media was being
used to spread fake news, a
problem plaguing India too.
Dimitry A. Muratov’s ‘No-
vaya Gazeta’ was described
as “the most independent
newspaper in Russia today”.
Those who have read/heard
of how Vladimir Putin’s de-
tractors are poisoned alleg-
edly by the KGB agents must
salute Muratov’s for going on
despite the heavy odds.
In India journalists face
the ire of authorities for writ-
ing or talking about facts
which are unpalatable to
them. The Nobel Peace prize
to the two journalists, just as
the Magsaysay award pre-
sented to a few Indian jour-
nalists, is encouraging for
upright journos, but will have
little impact on authorities.

T
BRITAIN: IMPLICATIONS OF THE
FUEL SUPPLY CRISIS
n January 30, 2020, Prime
Minister Boris Johnson said
in his message when Britain
left the European Union -
“Tonight we are leaving the
European Union for many
people this is an astonishing
moment of hope, a moment
they thought would never
come and there are many of
course who feel a sense of
anxiety and loss.”
This message from Boris
Johnson, indicating the en-
thusiasm of that moment and
concernforthefuture,isprov-
ing to be very accurate in the
midst of the current fuel sup-
ply crisis in Britain. The cri-
sis, which has been going on
for a week, has destroyed the
entire supply chain of Brit-
ain. Due to a widespread
shortage of heavy goods vehi-
cle (HGV) drivers, nearly 90
percent of UK fuel stations
have run out of fuel and kilo-
metersof longqueuesof vehi-
cles where fuel is available.
Departmental stores have be-
come empty due to panic buy-
ing. Many other essential ser-
vices including health servic-
es have been badly affected.
More or less, the view seems
like the developing world on
the soil of Britain, which
rules the whole world, is com-
pletely incredible and unique.
Estimates of the duration
of the current situation in the
UK are extremely worrying
because the current fuel sup-
ply crisis is at the core of the
acute labour shortage. Due to
theharshconditionsof Brexit
and the Covid era, millions of
people in the medical profes-
sion, including drivers,
plumbers, farm-workers and
care sector workers working
on EU passports, have re-
turned home with the inten-
tion of not returning to the
UK. Due to this massive out-
flow, there is currently a
shortageof about100,000driv-
ers, 150,000 care sector work-
ers, 50,000 butchers, 200,000
manufacturing workers, lacs
of agricultural workers and
thousands of hospitality sec-
tor workers in Britain.
According to the report of
the Centre of Excellence in
Economic Statistics, there is
currently a shortage of 1.3
million foreign born workers.
Due to strict immigration
laws, this shortcoming is not
yet visible in the near future.
Significantly, there has
been a broad consensus of
economists about the assess-
ment of such medium and
long-term effects of Brexit on
the UK economy. Although
the other side effects of Brex-
it, such as a significant re-
duction in the influence of
Britain in global strategic
matters, a sharp decline in
foreign investment and trade,
adverse effects on national
security, prosperity and de-
velopment were well antici-
pated by intellectual English
citizens, but in seeking of
betterment of various con-
cern like immigration, trans-
forming NHS, diplomacy and
increase sovereignty influ-
ence etc 51.89 % of UK people
voted In favour of Brexit.
But due to the disruption
of the current fuel supply,
citizens, surrounded by all-
round chaos, have started
questioning the government,
did we vote in favour of Brex-
it for the wait and queues? Of
course, Boris Johnson is try-
ing hard to justify this ongo-
ing crisis, but it is very clear
that despite the forecast, he
has neither taken any con-
crete steps in time nor has
presented any concrete plan
now. Many business leaders
also endorsed that Johnson
underestimated the scale of
the problems they faced and
the impact they will have on
inflation and growth.
It is noteworthy that with
Britain announcing the issu-
ance of temporary visas for
about 5000 HGV drivers and
5,500 poultry workers, last
Monday, about 200 soldiers
have been entrusted with the
task of driving fuel tankers.
It is hoped that with the help
of the army, there will be re-
lief in fuel supply soon, but
expensive agricultural prod-
ucts such as daffodil (300 mil-
lion), Broccoli and other
crops in large quantities are
getting spoiled due to lack of
labour. The industry of hun-
dred million pounds is in cri-
sis. Pig farming and the meat
industry have also come un-
der deep crisis. Despite the
huge demand for all the items
in the market on the annual
Christmas festival, the gov-
ernment has not yet made
any concrete plans. However,
to attract workers, Boris
Johnson has announced an
increase in minimum wage
soon. Now remuneration will
be available at the rate of at
least £ 9.42 an hour. The an-
nouncement will mean the
annual earnings of someone
on the “national living wage”
— the minimum wage paid to
people over the age of 23 —
increasing by 5.7 percent.
However,withtheeffortsof
Johnson’s government the
situationmaybecontrolledin
some time, but the time ahead
looks full of apprehensions
because these disruptions
aren’t about pigs, petrol and
power, it’s a rude awakening
abouthowthewholeeconomy
works. It is to be hoped that as
in the past, the clouds of the
recent crisis in the UK econo-
my will also soon clear.

New Delhi: Bharatiya

and surprisingly, no
one from Jharkhand
has got a place in the
National Executive of
80 members. Out of
Jharkhand's 14 Lok

are won by BJP MPs
and in the 81-member
assembly, the BJP has
26 MLAs. The BJP has
three former chief

state. Despite this, no
one got a place in the
national executive. In
the party organization,
there is one Raghuvar

president. However, he
also does not have any
responsibility for the
organization.
Among the 80 mem-
bers of the National
Executive, several
small states of the
Northeast, including
Goa, are represented.
There are four mem-
bers in the executive
committee -three from
Odisha and one from
Telangana. In the
neighboring states,
four leaders from Bi-
har and three from
Chhattisgarh are in
the national executive
but no one from
Jharkhand has fea-
tured in the national
executive. Apart from
80 members of the ex-
ecutive, there are 50
specialinvitees,among
them the Union Minis-

has definitely got a
place. State President

former Chief Minis-

RAJDEMANDS COAL SUPPLY
FOR POWER GENERATION
REQUIRE 11 RAKES DAILY, BUT ONLY FIVE ARE BEING DISPATCHED: ACS SUBODH
First India Bureau
Jaipur: Electricity pro-
duction has started in
Kalisindh and Kota
thermal power plants
of 795 MW power capac-
ity in the state. Addi-
tional Chief Secy En-
ergy Subodh Agrawal
has sent a message to
Union Coal Secy Anil
Jain to increase the
supply of coal from
Coal India to Raj. He
said that Coal India
should provide eleven-
and-a-half rakes daily
to Rajasthan but only
five rakes are being dis-
patched. “About 21
rakes of coal are re-
quired per day for all
the thermal units in the
state,” Agarwal said.
Agrawal held a re-
view meeting with the
high officials of Vidyut
Utpadan Nigam, Prasa-
ran Nigam and Urja Vi-
kas Nigam at Vidyut
Bhawan on Monday
. He
said that the power sce-
nario was getting better
as CM Ashok Gehlot
was also reviewing the
power crisis in the
state. He, however, men-
tioned that supply from
the subsidiaries of Coal
India is yet to increase.
Agrawal said that 9317
MW has been available
in the state while aver-
age demand of 10,683
MW.
First India Bureau
Jaipur: In the state,
there are signs of some
relief from the power
crisis arising due to the
shortage of coal and the
shutdown of power
plants. Along with the
commencement of pro-
duction in some units,
the supply of coal has
also increased. In such a
situation, it has been de-
cided that power cuts
will be on rotation basis.
When the power cut of
which city will happen,
it will be decided on the
supply and demand of
that city
.
The production of 195
MW has started in Unit
6 of Kota Thermal Pow-
er Station. From Octo-
ber9,600MWof electric-
ity has started to be gen-
erated in Unit 2 of Ka-
lisindh Thermal Power
Plant. There has been
some improvement in
the availability of elec-
tricity in Rajasthan on
October 10. 9353 MW
electricity has been
made available in the
state, while the average
demand is 10,639 MW
and the maximum de-
mand is 12,000 MW
.

CHIEF WHIP MAHESH
JOSHI QUESTIONS
ED PROBE
Jaipur: On Monday, CM Ge-
hlot’s brother Agrasen Gehlot
was questioned by ED. Chief
Whip of the Assembly Mahesh
Joshi has raised questions
regarding the continuous
questioning of the CM’s
brother. Joshi said on Monday
that to inquire Agrasen Gehlot
afresh is only political torture
since the matter has ended
earlier, in which the truth has
also come to the fore.
Happiness is not a goal—you are
not going to arrive at it—it is a
journey—a life with purpose is a
happy life!

POSTAL REG NO. JPC/010/2019-21
Rajendra Chhabra
Jaipur: 2003 batch IAS
officer Bhanu Prakash
Yetru, who returned to
Rajasthan on Septem-
ber 29 after completing
a three year long depu-
tation to his home state
of Andhra Pradesh, is
on APO for past fort-
night.
Yetru has served as
Collector in five dis-
tricts of the state,
namely Banswara,
Pratapgarh, Hanuman-
garh, Barmer and Bi-
kaner. In 2007, for a pe-
riod of 9 months, he
also served as Secretary
in the DoP after which
in November 2014 he
was sent to Udaipur as
MD of RSMM, where he
played a three and a
half year long innings
during which he hit sev-
eral ‘boundaries’. On
the basis of his capa-
bilities, Yetru took the
state government’s im-
portant public enter-
prise to newer heights.
But his tenure was also
full of controversies in
RSMM.
An application was
filed against Yetru and
the then Financial Ad-
visor to the RSMM—TR
Agrawal—wherein the
petitioner accused
these officials of con-
niving with owners of
M/S Surbhi Process
and Kalpana Mineral,
incurring a loss of Rs2
crore to the state ex-
chequer.
Allegation has been
laid in the application
that the MD changed
the name of mineral
from calciote to addi-
tive and increased the
rate. Senior advocate
Goverdhan Singh
Chowdhry, represent-
ing the petition, strong-
ly argued the case after
which the High Court,
in January 2018, gave
the ACB to register a PE
in the matter.
Yetru had then come
in confrontation with
the then Principal secre-
tary
, Mines—Ashok Sin-
ghvi—and he declined
following Secretary’s
orders and directions.
Singhvi had then filed a
written complaint re-
garding Yetru to the
state government and
the media had picked up
on the matter too.
It can be termed as
purely coincidence that
when Yetru went on
deputation to Andhra
in July 2018, there too
he was appointed as MD
of AP Mineral develop-
ment Corporation. His
last posting in AP was
of Secretary, IT and
Electronics Communi-
cation. Now the entire
bureaucracy is waiting
as to what posting the
DoP finally gives him
and how long he is kept
on APO.
Yetru’s ‘return’ most awaited in bureaucracy!

Jaipur: Rajasthan
Health Minister and
Gujarat In-charge Dr.
Raghu Sharma has re-
turned to Jaipur after
his 3-day Gujarat tour.
Sharma held meetings
with senior leaders of
Gujarat Congress in
quick succession the
first and second day,
while on the last day of
his tour, he took part in
‘Maun Vrat’ over the
Lakhimpur incident.
Addressing the me-
dia after the end of the
‘fast’, he said that till
the dismissal of Union
MoS for Home Ajay
Mishra and probe un-
der the supervision of
Supreme Court judge is
not done, Congress will
be on the streets for the
families of the victims.
He attacked Modi gov-
ernment in his familiar
style from Gujarat and
described the Congress
party as the biggest
beneficiary of the farm-
ers.

Jaipur: Education Min-
ister Govind Singh Do-
tasra has given yet an-
other ‘insight’ into the
workings of teachers
and said while giving
advice to women teach-
ers working in the
schools of the state that
where there is more fe-
male staff, there are also
a lot of mutual squab-
bles. If these get better,
then it will be some-
thing else.
During the pro-
gramme ‘Empowered
girl child, empowered
Rajasthan’ organised by
Rajasthan School Edu-
cation Council on Inter-
national Girl’s Day, Do-
tasra said, “When we
started to understand
the importance of edu-
cation, we started teach-
ing daughters too and
now daughters have
even left sons behind in
many cases. Women are
also being given priori-
ty in government jobs,
posting and promo-
tions. Government has
made such a policy that
women are kept in our
department as well.”
He said that earlier
daughters were killed in
the womb itself, but sit-
uation has changed to-
day. He also advocated
reservation for women
in Assembly elections.
“Earlier there was dif-
ference between son
and daughter and child
marriage was also prev-
alent. In rural areas,
only sons were given the
right to study, but with
the passage of time this
situation has improved
but more improvement
is still needed. Even to-
day we differentiate be-
tween daughter-in-law
and daughters. When
this difference disap-
pears then everything
will be fine. The govern-
ment is constantly try-
ing to promote girl edu-
cation and we are proud
of our daughters,” Do-
tasra said.

Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra will
contest the election of the President of Scouts
 Guides organisation. Dotasara filed nomination
for the post of President on Monday. Former IAS
JC Mahanti too filed nominations for the post of
State Commissioner.
It is a known fact that
Dr Raghu Sharma is a
capable tactful politi-
cian who understand the
political ‘winds’ like the
back of his hand. For
too long he has been
confined to politics of
Rajasthan, however, now
his capabilities have been
formally recognised by
party high command and
due to which he has been
chosen as Gujarat state
incharge. But what was
the ‘high point’ that led
to this development? Af-
ter all, how did Dr Raghu
get Gujarat responsibil-
ity? There are several
reasons behind this, but
recently concluded
Sahara by-election
perhaps traverses all.
During bypolls, Sharma
was assigned task of
securing Sahara seat for
Cong he worked 24/7
to ensure party’s victory.
High command was
impressed by Raghu’s
management there as a
result of which Congress
received a unilateral
victory in Sahara. He
has been co-in-charge of
Gujarat in 2008-09. Due
to these reasons, high
command entrusted task
of an important state like
Gujarat to him.

So is the price of LPG. As there’s hardly a mur- mur about how the middle class is burdened with the high cost of living, one can assume that peo- ple are satisfied, if not happy, with the situation. The Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy committee has lowered its retail inflation projection from 5.7 per- cent to 5.3 percent. The RBI found the inflation trajectory more satisfactory than expected. Shaktikanta Das, the RBI Gover- nor, maintained that the central bank would work to achieve its goal of 4 percent inflation. The Governor did voice con- cern over the impact of high indirect tax on fuel on inflation and said it was for the govern- ment to take a decision on that. Going by the recent hike in fuel prices, the government appears in no mood to lower the taxes. On its part the government is more concerned about the GDP and meeting fiscal challenges. P his year’s Nobel peace prize going to two journalists must have come as a shock to many as those speaking against corruption and mis- rule are branded as sickular or pseudo-intellectual and by various other names. The un- lucky ones like Maltese jour- nalist Daphne Anne Caruana Galizia and Russia’s Anna Politkovskaya and others like them are bumped off by authoritarian governments. The environment not only in India but also in many other countries is not conducive for journalists to pursue their trade without fear or favour as free speech is gen- erally abhorred. Journalist Maria Ressa of the Philippines has the cour- age to write against her country’s dictator Rodrigo Duterte’s “controversial, murderous anti-drug cam- paign”. She has relentlessly exposed corruption in the government through her digital media platform ‘Rap- pler’. For her courageous work she was convicted for libel and jailed. She is out on bail but shows no sign of giv- ing up her journalism of courage. The cri- sis, which has been going on for a week, has destroyed the entire supply chain of Brit- ain. Due to a widespread shortage of heavy goods vehi- cle (HGV) drivers, nearly 90 percent of UK fuel stations have run out of fuel and kilo- metersof longqueuesof vehi- cles where fuel is available. Departmental stores have be- come empty due to panic buy- ing. Many other essential ser- vices including health servic- es have been badly affected. More or less, the view seems like the developing world on the soil of Britain, which rules the whole world, is com- pletely incredible and unique. Estimates of the duration of the current situation in the UK are extremely worrying because the current fuel sup- ply crisis is at the core of the acute labour shortage. Due to theharshconditionsof Brexit and the Covid era, millions of people in the medical profes- sion, including drivers, plumbers, farm-workers and care sector workers working on EU passports, have re- turned home with the inten- tion of not returning to the UK. Due to this massive out- flow, there is currently a shortageof about100,000driv- ers, 150,000 care sector work- ers, 50,000 butchers, 200,000 manufacturing workers, lacs of agricultural workers and thousands of hospitality sec- tor workers in Britain. According to the report of the Centre of Excellence in Economic Statistics, there is currently a shortage of 1.3 million foreign born workers. Due to strict immigration laws, this shortcoming is not yet visible in the near future. Significantly, there has been a broad consensus of economists about the assess- ment of such medium and long-term effects of Brexit on the UK economy. Although the other side effects of Brex- it, such as a significant re- duction in the influence of Britain in global strategic matters, a sharp decline in foreign investment and trade, adverse effects on national security, prosperity and de- velopment were well antici- pated by intellectual English citizens, but in seeking of betterment of various con- cern like immigration, trans- forming NHS, diplomacy and increase sovereignty influ- ence etc 51.89 % of UK people voted In favour of Brexit. But due to the disruption of the current fuel supply, citizens, surrounded by all- round chaos, have started questioning the government, did we vote in favour of Brex- it for the wait and queues? Of course, Boris Johnson is try- ing hard to justify this ongo- ing crisis, but it is very clear that despite the forecast, he has neither taken any con- crete steps in time nor has presented any concrete plan now. Many business leaders also endorsed that Johnson underestimated the scale of the problems they faced and the impact they will have on inflation and growth. It is noteworthy that with Britain announcing the issu- ance of temporary visas for about 5000 HGV drivers and 5,500 poultry workers, last Monday, about 200 soldiers have been entrusted with the task of driving fuel tankers. It is hoped that with the help of the army, there will be re- lief in fuel supply soon, but expensive agricultural prod- ucts such as daffodil (300 mil- lion), Broccoli and other crops in large quantities are getting spoiled due to lack of labour. The industry of hun- dred million pounds is in cri- sis. Pig farming and the meat industry have also come un- der deep crisis. Despite the huge demand for all the items in the market on the annual Christmas festival, the gov- ernment has not yet made any concrete plans. However, to attract workers, Boris Johnson has announced an increase in minimum wage soon. Now remuneration will be available at the rate of at least £ 9.42 an hour. The an- nouncement will mean the annual earnings of someone on the “national living wage” — the minimum wage paid to people over the age of 23 — increasing by 5.7 percent. However, withtheeffortsof Johnson’s government the situationmaybecontrolledin some time, but the time ahead looks full of apprehensions because these disruptions aren’t about pigs, petrol and power, it’s a rude awakening abouthowthewholeeconomy works. It is to be hoped that as in the past, the clouds of the recent crisis in the UK econo- my will also soon clear. THE VIEWS EXPRESSED BY THE AUTHOR ARE PERSONAL O The crisis, which has been going on for a week, has destroyed the entire supply chain of Britain. Addi- tional Chief Secy En- ergy Subodh Agrawal has sent a message to Union Coal Secy Anil Jain to increase the supply of coal from Coal India to Raj. He said that Coal India should provide eleven- and-a-half rakes daily to Rajasthan but only five rakes are being dis- patched. “About 21 rakes of coal are re- quired per day for all the thermal units in the state,” Agarwal said. Agrawal held a re- view meeting with the high officials of Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, Prasa- ran Nigam and Urja Vi- kas Nigam at Vidyut Bhawan on Monday . He, however, men- tioned that supply from the subsidiaries of Coal India is yet to increase. Agrawal said that 9317 MW has been available in the state while aver- age demand of 10,683 MW. First India Bureau Jaipur: In the state, there are signs of some relief from the power crisis arising due to the shortage of coal and the shutdown of power plants. Along with the commencement of pro- duction in some units, the supply of coal has also increased. In such a situation, it has been de- cided that power cuts will be on rotation basis. When the power cut of which city will happen, it will be decided on the supply and demand of that city . The production of 195 MW has started in Unit 6 of Kota Thermal Pow- er Station. From Octo- ber9,600MWof electric- ity has started to be gen- erated in Unit 2 of Ka- lisindh Thermal Power Plant. • 10. Happiness is not a goal—you are not going to arrive at it—it is a journey—a life with purpose is a happy life! —Jagdeesh Chandra, CEO Editor-in-Chief, First India JAIPUR | TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2021 www.firstindia.co.in I www.firstindia.co.in/epaper/ I twitter.com/thefirstindia I facebook.com/thefirstindia I instagram.com/thefirstindia 08 2NDFRONT POSTAL REG NO. JPC/010/2019-21 Rajendra Chhabra Jaipur: 2003 batch IAS officer Bhanu Prakash Yetru, who returned to Rajasthan on Septem- ber 29 after completing a three year long depu- tation to his home state of Andhra Pradesh, is on APO for past fort- night. Yetru has served as Collector in five dis- tricts of the state, namely Banswara, Pratapgarh, Hanuman- garh, Barmer and Bi- kaner. In 2007, for a pe- riod of 9 months, he also served as Secretary in the DoP after which in November 2014 he was sent to Udaipur as MD of RSMM, where he played a three and a half year long innings during which he hit sev- eral ‘boundaries’. On the basis of his capa- bilities, Yetru took the state government’s im- portant public enter- prise to newer heights. But his tenure was also full of controversies in RSMM. An application was filed against Yetru and the then Financial Ad- visor to the RSMM—TR Agrawal—wherein the petitioner accused these officials of con- niving with owners of M/S Surbhi Process and Kalpana Mineral, incurring a loss of Rs2 crore to the state ex- chequer. Allegation has been laid in the application that the MD changed the name of mineral from calciote to addi- tive and increased the rate. Senior advocate Goverdhan Singh Chowdhry, represent- ing the petition, strong- ly argued the case after which the High Court, in January 2018, gave the ACB to register a PE in the matter. Yetru had then come in confrontation with the then Principal secre- tary , Mines—Ashok Sin- ghvi—and he declined following Secretary’s orders and directions. Singhvi had then filed a written complaint re- garding Yetru to the state government and the media had picked up on the matter too. It can be termed as purely coincidence that when Yetru went on deputation to Andhra in July 2018, there too he was appointed as MD of AP Mineral develop- ment Corporation. His last posting in AP was of Secretary, IT and Electronics Communi- cation. Now the entire bureaucracy is waiting as to what posting the DoP finally gives him and how long he is kept on APO. Yetru’s ‘return’ most awaited in bureaucracy! Deepa Bafila Jaipur: Rajasthan Health Minister and Gujarat In-charge Dr. Raghu Sharma has re- turned to Jaipur after his 3-day Gujarat tour. Sharma held meetings with senior leaders of Gujarat Congress in quick succession the first and second day, while on the last day of his tour, he took part in ‘Maun Vrat’ over the Lakhimpur incident. Addressing the me- dia after the end of the ‘fast’, he said that till the dismissal of Union MoS for Home Ajay Mishra and probe un- der the supervision of Supreme Court judge is not done, Congress will be on the streets for the families of the victims. He attacked Modi gov- ernment in his familiar style from Gujarat and described the Congress party as the biggest beneficiary of the farm- ers. First India Bureau Jaipur: Education Min- ister Govind Singh Do- tasra has given yet an- other ‘insight’ into the workings of teachers and said while giving advice to women teach- ers working in the schools of the state that where there is more fe- male staff, there are also a lot of mutual squab- bles. If these get better, then it will be some- thing else. During the pro- gramme ‘Empowered girl child, empowered Rajasthan’ organised by Rajasthan School Edu- cation Council on Inter- national Girl’s Day, Do- tasra said, “When we started to understand the importance of edu- cation, we started teach- ing daughters too and now daughters have even left sons behind in many cases. Women are also being given priori- ty in government jobs, posting and promo- tions. Government has made such a policy that women are kept in our department as well.” He said that earlier daughters were killed in the womb itself, but sit- uation has changed to- day. He also advocated reservation for women in Assembly elections. “Earlier there was dif- ference between son and daughter and child marriage was also prev- alent. In rural areas, only sons were given the right to study, but with the passage of time this situation has improved but more improvement is still needed. Even to- day we differentiate be- tween daughter-in-law and daughters. When this difference disap- pears then everything will be fine. The govern- ment is constantly try- ing to promote girl edu- cation and we are proud of our daughters,” Do- tasra said. Manoj Sharma Tonk: Terming BJP as anti-farmer, former dep- uty CM Sachin Pilot on Monday said that farm- ers are agitating for months against farm laws but they are being killed under the BJP rule. He said former UPA government had enacted laws like MGN- REGA and RTI but the present government led by PM Modi brought farm laws which are be- ing opposed by farmers. While addressing a function during Pra- shasan Goan ke sang in Arniyamal gram pan- chayat in Tonk he also handed over leases to beneficiaries. From P1 organised on the occa- sion of International Girl Child Day on Mon- day evening. He said in accord- ance with spirit of an order of Supreme Court regarding com- pulsoryregistrationfor marriages in Ra- jasthan, The Compul- sory Registration of Marriages (Amend- ment) Bill, 2021 has been introduced. “But there has been a mis- conception about the bill, so we will request Hon’ble Governor to return the bill back to the government,” Ge- hlot said stressing that girls and women in the state have equal oppor- tunities to progress. The government is working with commit- ment to provide oppor- tunities to girls and women to progress. “ It is our endeavour that the girls and women should become educat- ed,healthy ,capableand empowered. There is several welfare schemes for upliftment of women and girl child. To promote girl childeducation123new colleges have been opened out of which 32 are women’s colleges. Also higher secondary schoolswherethereare more than 500 girls in class 11th and 12th, theyhavealsobeenpro- moted to girls’ college,” Gehlot said. He said that today Rajasthan is such a state where education to girl child is being given free of cost up to university level. Ra- jasthan is one of the leading states in the country in field of edu- cation due to these ef- forts of state govt. Gehlot said in order to free people of state from costly cost of treatment our govern- ment has implemented ambitiousschemeslike CM Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme. “Due to initiatives like RajasthanGovernment Grant Health Scheme and Chiranjeevi Yoja- na, Rajasthan has be- come such a state in India, where universal health coverage is be- ing given to every sec- tion of the society ,” Ge- hlot said. CM said women shouldbemotivatedfor cleanliness during menstruation. “With this purpose, govern- ment is going to start ‘UDAN Yojana’, on which Rs200 crore has been spent,” he said and called for active participation from all sections for its success. In the program, CM honoured Paralympic Gold Medalist Shooter Avani Lekhara and 9 other courageous girls. He distributed clothes to the children who got free from child labour and went to child edu- cation ashram where they enrolled for study . CM also interacted with destitute children and widows benefitted under scheme. Gehlot released post- ers of Gandhi Yojana Sugam Setu Campaign and unveiled logo of Indira Gandhi Women andChildDevelopment InstituteandUdaanYo- jana. Dotasara filed nomination for the post of President on Monday. Former IAS JC Mahanti too filed nominations for the post of State Commissioner. It is a known fact that Dr Raghu Sharma is a capable tactful politi- cian who understand the political ‘winds’ like the back of his hand. For too long he has been confined to politics of Rajasthan, however, now his capabilities have been formally recognised by party high command and due to which he has been chosen as Gujarat state incharge. But what was the ‘high point’ that led to this development? Af- ter all, how did Dr Raghu get Gujarat responsibil- ity? There are several reasons behind this, but recently concluded Sahara by-election perhaps traverses all. During bypolls, Sharma was assigned task of securing Sahara seat for Cong he worked 24/7 to ensure party’s victory. High command was impressed by Raghu’s management there as a result of which Congress received a unilateral victory in Sahara. He has been co-in-charge of Gujarat in 2008-09. Due to these reasons, high command entrusted task of an important state like Gujarat to him. —Aditi Nagar WHAT CLICKED FOR DR RAGHU?
