NO MoS STATUS FOR APPOINTEE MLAs
With suspense developing over the issue if MLAs, who
has been given political appointments, will be given
MoS status, it has now come to light that such MLAs will
not be accorded MoS status. According to the decision of
the Supreme Court, MLAs cannot remain in the office of

of the Board / Corporation / Commission will be given and
no facilities will be given to the MLAs. In this regard the

Jaipur: The heat of the Hijab controversy case
in Karnataka has now reached the capital Jaipur.
Muslim girls and relatives held a stir at a private
college in Chaksu after the students were not al-

of administrative officials and Muslim community
representatives was held late Friday where it was
decided to follow dress code prescribed in the col-

different routes. It was demanded that the way in
which an attempt is being made to create com-
munal tension, the central government should take
efforts to stop this. A large number of girl students

Initially, it was considered
to be an uphill task for Hus-

of working at the Centre. The
bigger challenges of indus-

enough to think out of the

multi-national companies to
establish industrial units
there.

phase, is a big gain for Bihar.
550 people will get direct em-

industry has got a big boost in
Bihar during the last one year
as of the 151 units of ethanol
17 units worth Rs 180 crore
are getting ready with 4 al-
ready operational, which has
ensured to make Bihar the
biggest hub of Ethanol indus-
tries in India by the overall
production of 36 crore litres
of ethanol. Moreover, the ef-
forts also boosted the youth to
be entrepreneurs by promot-
ing small scale industries in
every village and district of
Bihar for which 16,000 benefi-
ciaries have already been fi-
nalised who will be provided
with Rs 10 lakh each (with Rs
5 lakh as grant and Rs 5 lakh

which is making them a job

have boosted up the confi-

a brighter future ahead. Once

Syed Shahnawaz Hussain’s
perspective for industrialisa-

FEAR AHEAD OF

Ashish Mishra, who
wasaccusedof crush-
ing protesting farmers under an
SUV allegedly driven by him in
Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3,
has been granted bail by the Luc-
know Bench of Allahabad High
Court. Ashish was arrested only
after pressure from the Supreme
Court. There should be no issue
with the high court’s bail order
as the Supreme Court has been
of the view that jail should be an
exception and bail is a rule given
certain conditions.
The only fear is that the ac-
cused may try and intimidate
voters and witnesses in Lakhim-
pur which goes to poll on Febru-
ary 23. There is no guarantee
that Ashish, given his father’s
profile, may not do so. The Un-
nao rape case of 2017 is an exam-
ple of how a high-profile ac-
cused can go all out to silence
witnesses. One ardently hopes
that the state will ensure safety
of witnesses and also challenge
the bail order.

BSP's help to Yogi in Gorakhpur
Mahesh Sharma
Gorakhpur: Bahujan
Samaj Party (BSP) lead-
er Mayawati is helping
BJP in many ways. In
western Uttar Pradesh,
she has fielded a large
number of Muslim can-
didates. She has fielded
candidates in such a
way that the SP will suf-
fer in more than 60 per
cent of the seats.
But it is surprising
that she has also helped
Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath in Gorakh-
pur city seat. Think,
BJP is contesting the
state elections on Yogi’s
face and his work and
he needed help in his
area! To help them,
Mayawati’s party has
fielded a Muslim candi-
date for the Gorakhpur
city seat.
This is the first time
in the last three decades
that a Muslim candi-
datehas been fielded
from Gorakhpur city
seat by any of the state’s
major parties. That too
when the Mahant of
Gorakhnath Peeth and
the Chief Minister of
the state is contesting
from the seat. Mayawati
has fielded Khwaja
Shamsuddin and the
party maintains that
there are a large num-
ber of Muslims and Dal-
its in this seat, whose
equation will work in
favour of BSP and if
Brahmins join together
then BSP will win. It is
also being said that
BSP’s Brahmin leader
Satish Chandra Mishra
is working for this. But
in reality, the purpose
of giving a Muslim can-
didate for Gorakhpur
seat is to polarise to
electorate as because of
the Muslim candidate,
the Hindu vote will be
consolidated in favor of
Yogi, and at the same
time, more strongly the
BSP will contest on this
seat, the more Muslim
and Dalit votes it gets,
and as a result the
weaker the SP candi-
date will be.

Past trends show UP’s Kasganj seat is ‘key’ to Lucknow
Kasganj: In the city of
temples locals believe
that whoever wins in
Kasganj forms the gov-
ernment in Lucknow
even while the constitu-
ency has never been a
stronghold of any po-
litical party
.
Bahujan Samaj Party
(BSP) had won Kasganj
seat in 2007 when the
party formed the gov-
ernment in the state. In
2007theBSP’sHasratUl-
lah Sherwani had won
the seat, but Samajwadi
Party (SP) wrested the
constituency in 2012
when the party came to
power in the state. Sher-
wani had lost to SP’s
Manpal Singh in 2012.
In 2017, when the
Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP)formedthegovern-
ment the party’s candi-
date Devendra Singh Ra-
jput won by a margin of
over 49,000 votes against
SP’s Manpal Singh.
Kasganj, a city and
the district headquar-
ters of Kasganj dis-
trict, lies in the ‘Braj
region’. Braj, was
known as ‘Khasganj’
during the Mughal and
British periods.
Prominent farmer’s
leader Kuldeep Pandey
will be seen contesting
for congress against
BJP’s sitting MLA Dev-
endra Singh Rajput
from the key battle-
ground in UP.
Former MLA Manpal
Singh has got tickets
from SP whereas party
worker Prabhudayal
Verma is the nominee
of the BSP.
Since the 1977 elec-
tions in Uttar Pradesh,
BJP won four times and
Samajwadi Party two
times from the Kasganj
constituency
.
There are 715 villag-
es, 10 municipal corpo-
rations in Kasganj. Ac-
cording to the last Cen-
sus, the population is
14,36,719 and has a 61
per cent literacy rate.
The seven phased As-
sembly elections in Ut-
tar Pradesh commenced
on February 10. The rest
six phases for the state
assembly are scheduled
for February 14, 20, 23,
27, March 3, and 7. The
counting of votes will
take place on March 10.
WILL BJP CONTINUE WINNING STREAK?
Political observers say the BJP is going all out for
the Braj region while hoping to retain several seats.
Earlier, BJP national president JP Nadda held a review
meeting with office-bearers of the 40 constituencies in
the Braj region and discussed key issues in the run-up to
the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. Prominent
farmer’s leader Kuldeep Pandey will be seen contesting
for congress against BJP’s sitting MLA Devendra Singh
Rajput from the key battleground in UP.

Noida: The richest can-

worth `296 crore, while
the poorest has just
`6,700, according to a
report.
Voting is scheduled
to take place on Febru-
ary 14 on 55 assembly
seats of the state, span-
ning the nine districts
of Amroha, Bareilly,
Bijnor, Budaun, Mo-
radabad, Rampur, Saha-
ranpur, Sambhal and
Shahjahanpur in west-
ern UP.
The Uttar Pradesh
Election Watch and As-
sociation for Democrat-
ic Reforms (ADR) in a
report said they have
analysed the self-sworn
affidavits of 584 candi-
dates out of 586, who
are contesting the sec-

The richest candi-

ment that if Pandit Jawaharlal
Nehru wanted, Goa could have
been liberated “within hours”
in 1947 when India attained
independence, Gandhi said the
prime minister does not un-
derstand the situation of those
times and what was happening
post-World War II. Addressing
a press conference in Margao,
around 35 kms from here,
Gandhi expressed confidence
that the Congress will win
majority of seats in the Febru-
ary 14 Goa assembly elections
and there won’t be any need
for post-poll alliances. “Modi
has come to Goa because he
wants to distract Goa from
real issues like employment,
environment...Did he speak
anything about environment
and employment? BJP’s
manifesto has no word
about environment,” Gandhi
said. PM should tell Goans
what they have done for
creating employment in the
State and for tourism indus-
try, he added. —Agencies

‘BLESS WITH CHILDREN’ REPLY
Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav has taken
a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar over PM Modi’s comments
in the Rajya Sabha that dynastic parties are the biggest
threat to democracy. Lalu Yadav has nine children. His
son, Tejashwi Yadav, was Bihar Deputy Chief Minister
in 2015 when the Rashtriya Janata Dal, or RJD, and Mr
Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) were in a short-lived alli-
ance. Tejashwi Yadav is seen to be in line to head the RJD
after Lalu Prasad, although his father hasn’t confirmed it
publicly. “Modi never had any children. Nitish has a son
who is averse to politics. One can only pray that they
are blessed with children who can carry forward their
political legacy,” said the RJD chief, who is out on bail
in the Bihar fodder scam, in which he was convicted of
swindling government funds meant for cattle fodder.

7. Cape Town: The World
Health Organization’s
(WHO) chief scientist,
Soumya Swaminathan,
said on Friday that the
world was not yet at the
end of the Covid-19
pandemic as there
would be more Covid
variants.
“We have seen the vi-
rus evolve, mutate ... so
we know there will be
more variants, more
variants of concern, so
we are not at the end of
the pandemic,” Swami-
nathan told reporters in
South Africa, where she
was visiting vaccine
manufacturing facili-
ties with WHO director-
general Tedros Adha-
nom Ghebreyesus.
In an interview to
Bloomberg, Swamina-
than said nobody can
predict when the pan-
demic will end. “Let’s
not declare the pan-
demic over as some
people are doing now. It
would be foolish to
drop all precautions
that we’ve been taking
all this time. We need to
continue that and hope-
fully by the end of 2022,
we’ll be in a much bet-
ter position. A variant
can arise anywhere
and you’re back to
square one. We still
need to be cautious,”
she said.
The chief scientist
said the world will
learn how to live with
the virus, like with
other respiratory vi-
ruses. “We’ll have
much better surveil-
lance systems globally.
We know that even if
you have an ordinary
respiratory infection
or a flu, it’s good to
keep your mask on. We
should take that into
the future,” she said.

POSTAL REG NO. JPC/004/2022-24
Rajendra Chhabra
Jaipur: In the state ad-
ministration,thebunga-
lows of officials right
from Chief Secretary to
DGP to even bungalows
of 32 district Collectors
are ear-marked, but sur-
prisingly and sadly, the
bungalow for Jaipur
Collector has not been
ear-marked. This situa-
tion is not a new one,
rather has been prevail-
ing for the past 34 years
and all the Collectors
that came in all these
years, either took small
houses or huge bunga-
lows on rent and even at
times, stayed in duplex
flats or at other times, in
their own houses.
The responsibility to
provide a befitting and
ear-marked bungalow to
Collector falls on GAD,
but it seems that over
the course of 34 years,
the department has for-
gotten its responsibility
.
ThecurrentCollectorof
Jaipur district - Rajan
Vishal - is 50th Collector,
and sadly he resides in
Heera Bagh flats, which
according to bureau-
cratic observers, is not
befitting the standard of
a Collector.
In districts, the bun-
galows of Collectors is
known by one and all so
thatattimesof need,the
general public can easi-
ly approach the Collec-
tor for help. But the situ-
ation of Jaipur Collec-
tor is entirely reverse.
Till 1970, Collectors
used to reside in a bun-
galow specially ear-
marked near the Collec-
tor office at Banipark.
However, after this, this
space was allotted to Ra-
jasthan Congress and
after some time, the
Congress party handed
it over to Youth Con-
gress and since then,
this bungalow is with
the Youth wing of the
Grand- Old- Party
.
More than two dozen
Collectors have come
and gone since 1970, but
they all stayed at sepa-
rate locations through-
out their stints. Officials
like SN Thanvi, VS Sin-
gh, Shrimat Pandey and
SudhanshPantstayedat
the chair for 3-4 years
and in this long dura-
tion the general public
didn’t know about the
Collector’s bungalows,
but only a handful of
them ever knew about
where the remaining
Collectors resided.
It is also important to
note here that in the
past three years, the cur-
rent Gehlot government
has shuffled four Collec-
tors in Jaipur in which
Jagroop Singh Yadav
stayed at the helm for
merely 11 months, while
Jogaram stayed for
merely 7 months and
Antar Singh Nehra was
at the helm for 17
months. This means
that by the time the gen-
eral public would come
to know of the residence
of Collectors, a new of-
ficial was posted in their
place.
It is indeed a laugha-
ble aspect about Collec-
tors of Jaipur especially
considering that in the
past 34 years, several
CMs and Chief Secre-
taries came and went
and no one ever batted
an eyelid over the issue.
The matter, thus, now
rests in CS Usha Shar-
ma’s court, who is a ca-
pable, hard-working
an experienced officer,
who not only has the
CM’s trust, but also the
support of bureaucracy
.
Therefore, she is in a po-
sition to take any bold
decision and it is thus
expected of her to ear-
mark a bungalow for the
District Collector, there-
by
, putting an end to the
issuethathasbeenlying
pending for past 34
years!
Will CS provide a roof on Jaipur Collector’s head?

I’m a fashion enthusi-

always been the high-
light of my day
.
When did you de-
cide that you
shall take up
modelling?
I had always
been interested in the
modelling industry but
never got an opportu-
nity. First Miss India
gave me a platform and
boosted my confidence
and hence I took a
leap of faith in my
passion and
joined a model-
ling agency as
a part-time

cently
.
What are your
future plans?
I’m still exploring and
learning more about
myself every day
. I wish
to work in the fashion
industry in future as
clothes are the one
thing that makes me the
happiest. I also want to
volunteer for NGOs and
work for women em-

bit in making this soci-
ety a better place for
everyone.
If not a model, what
would you be?
If not a model
then I would
love to be a full
stack developer.
I love coding and
developing new
things from scratch.
What are your great-
est source of inspira-

My family is my biggest
supporter and my ulti-

grown up watching my
mother work harder to
give us a better future
no matter the obstacles
that give me the
strength to try new
things and never to be

Is there anything else

One great lesson First
Miss India taught me
was that when the op-

did which brought me
a step closer to doing
what I love. I would al-
ways cherish the times
spent in Goa because
it truly gave me the
right exposure and I
can now walk more

SCIENCE BEHIND HUGS!
CITY FIRST
e hug others when
we’re excited, happy,
sad, or trying to com-
fort them. Hugging, it
seems, is universally
comforting. It makes
us feel good. And it
turns out that hugging is prov-
en to make us healthier and
happier.
Hugs reduce stress by show-
ing your supportWhen a friend
or family member is dealing
with something painful or un-
pleasant in their lives, hug
them. Scientists say that giving
another person support
through touch can reduce the
stress of the person being com-
forted. It can even reduce the
stress of the person doing the
comforting.
HUGS MAY PROTECT YOU
AGAINST ILLNESS
The stress-reducing effects of
hugging might also work to
keep you healthier.
The participants with a
greater support system were
less likely to get sick. And
those with the greater sup-
port system who did get
sick had less severe symp-
toms than those with lit-
tle or no support sys-
tem.
HUGS MAY BOOST
YOUR HEART HEALTH
Hugging can be
good for your heart
health. According
to these findings,
an affectionate rela-
tionship may be good
for your heart health.
sometimes call the
“cuddle hormone.” This
is because its levels rise
when we hug, touch, or
sit close to someone
else. Oxytocin is associ-
ated with happiness and less
stress.
Scientists have found that
this hormone has a strong ef-
fect on women. Oxytocin causes
a reduction in blood pressure
and of the stress hormone nor-
epinephrine.
HUGS HELP REDUCE
YOUR FEARS
Scientists have found that
touch can reduce anxiety in
people with low self-esteem.
Touch can also keep people
from isolating themselves
when reminded of their mor-
tality.
They found that even touch-
ing an inanimate object in this
case, a teddy
bear.
HUGS MAY HELP REDUCE
YOUR PAIN
Research suggests some forms
of touch may be capable of re-
ducing pain. In one study
, people
with fibromyalgia had six thera-
peutic touch treatments. Each
treatment involved light touch-
ingontheskin.Theparticipants
reported an increase in quality
of life and reduced pain. Hug-
ging is another form of touch
that may help reduce pain.
HUGS HELP YOU COMMUNICATE
WITH OTHERS
Most human communication
occurs verbally or through fa-
cial expressions. But touch is
another important way that
people can send messages to
one another. Hugging is a very
comforting and communicative
type of touch.
HOW MANY HUGS DO WE NEED?
Family therapist Virginia Sat-
ir once said, “We need four
hugs a day for survival. We
need 8 hugs a day for mainte-
nance. We need 12 hugs a day
for growth.” While that may
sound like a lot of hugs, it
seems that many hugs are bet-
ter than not enough. So, how
many hugs should you have a
day for optimal health? Accord-
ing to the best science, we
should have as many as possi-
ble if we want to reap the great-
est positive effects.
HUGGING YOURSELF HAS
SERIOUS BENEFITS
Like hugging, self-hugging can
have some pretty big benefits,
so it’s a great way to give your-
self some love.
It can help relieve pain
According to research from
2011, hugging yourself could
help reduce pain.
Research from the 2015 Trust-
ed Source suggests the hor-
mone oxytocin, released with
soothing touch, may play a role
in pain relief.
Oxytocin release could help
relieve pain directly. The re-
view authors note this hormone
can also help reduce sensitivity
to pain indirectly by decreasing
feelings of anxiety and fear.
YES, YOU CAN (AND SHOULD)
GIVE YOURSELF A HUG
Hugs can provide a lot of com-
forts. They can help you feel
closer to someone you care
about, whether that’s a partner,
friend, or child. They can also
increase feelings of happiness
and fulfilment by reinforcing
your knowledge that other peo-
ple care about you.
IT CAN HELP YOU FEEL
SAFE AND SECURE
The importance of human con-
nection can’t be understated,
and social support offers plenty
of benefits. When someone you
care for wraps their arms
around you in a hug, for exam-
ple, you probably feel comforted
and less alone. Hugging your-
self can replicate these feelings
of comfort and safety
.
IT CAN IMPROVE YOUR MOOD
Touch, even your own touch,
helps promote relaxation since
it lowers Trusted Source levels
of cortisol (the stress hormone)
in your body
. Sure, a hug won’t
solve your problems entirely,
but it can help relieve some of
your tension and stress.
IT CAN INCREASE
SELF-COMPASSION
Like touch, self-compassion can
lower cortisol levels and im-
prove overall well-being.
Practising self-kindness
helps make it easier to accept
yourself as you are and soothe
yourself after hardship or mis-
takes. By increasing mindful
acceptance and self-esteem, self-
compassion can also improve
your general outlook on life.
