6. CENTRAL PARK, NEW YORK
DESIGN FEATURE:
Natural features -
The natural features and land form in much of the park
appear natural, it is in fact almost entirely landscaped. The
park contains several natural-looking lakes and ponds that
have been created artificially by damming natural seeps
and flows. There is a large area of woods in addition to
seven major lawns, the "meadows" and many minor
grassy areas; some of them are used for informal or team
sports and some set aside as quiet areas; there are a
number of enclosed playgrounds for children. The 6 miles
(9.7 km) of drives within the park are used by joggers,
cyclists, skateboarders, and inline skaters etc.
7. CENTRAL PARK
MAN MADE FEATURES:

waters, gardens and unique bridges, music and performance centers,

B- ART AND ARCHITECTURE
1. Cleopatra's Needle:
Is a red granite obelisk. Each obelisk is approximately
68–69 feet tall and weigh about 180 tons.
2 .Strawberry Fields:
Strawberry Fields is a 2.5-acre (1.0 ha) landscaped section in
New York City's Central Park, designed by the landscape
architect Bruce Kelly. The mosaic, in the style of Portuguese
pavement, is at the heart of a series of open and secret glades
of lawn and glacier-carved rock outcroppings, bounded by
shrubs and mature trees and woodland slopes, all designated a
"quiet zone". A woodland walk winds through edge plantings
between the glade-like upper lawn and the steep
wooded slopes.
9. CENTRAL PARK
3. THE GATE:
There are a group of gates comprising a
site-specific work of art by Bulgarian artist.
Inspiration of the The Gates alludes to the
tradition of Japanese torii gates,
traditionally constructed at the entrance to
Shinto shrines.
Activities in the park :
Most popular of all activities include
popular attractions on guided horse &
carriage, bike, walking, pedicab, running and
fitness tours, visit the playgrounds or
