2. Education Defined..
Education is the process of receiving or giving
systematic instruction, especially at a school or
university.
Synonyms: teaching, tuition, schooling, and
guidance.
3. Course Overview
The course basically focuses on the diversity in education as well as
history that has caused the negative effects of diversity to seize and
change. Some things that relate to the situation are Brown v. Board
which was passed to end segregation in public schools. The Individuals
with Disabilities Act was later passed to allow students with disabilities
to be apart of the learning environment as well. The acts allow students
to have equality in class room settings. Course videos informed us that
discipline in education is very important as well. Suspensions, code of
conduct, documents of student behaviors as well as other things that
are very important in public schools. The course helps us understand
that working in education doesn’t only requires teaching but,
responsibilities and various equality rights and more.
4. What Educators Did
Educators took on several task that they were
obligated to accept. Over the years educators have
been faced with new rules and regulations that some
were not fund of course. These rules vary from
accepting the opposite race in classroom settings
around 1954 as well as special needs students in the
1970’s to elimination educators freedom of religion in
their classrooms. Some protested for things that they
believed in over the years and up into the new year of
2016. Students have been protesting against things
such as “More Classmates, Less Inmates!” Individuals
have also protested for race of course and equality
which is most important to me.
5. Outcome
As an outcome laws were passed and rules and
regulations were set. Equality was pressed and
therefore some are pleased and some aren’t.
Students are from various cultures and are placed in
classroom settings filled with various races. The
atmosphere didn’t only change but, the information
that students are being taught is about different
races. Black History, Spanish , French , World
History and etc. All involve the history and facts of
different cultures. Students with disabilities or who
are qualified as special needs are included as well.
6. State and Church
Over the years, United States federal government , as
well as many state and local government, as well as
many state and local governments have attempted to
interpret the appropriate relationships between
religion and public schools. The case of 1947 analyzed
and aided in establishing the concrete guidelines and
interpretation of the Establishment Clause. Educators
can balance the situation of state and church out by
doing as needed to practice religious beliefs in schools
who appreciate and accept it and by following the
states rules at all times.
7. How would I handle it?
I would handle it by allowing my
students to practice what the state
wants and to acknowledge their
religious beliefs in private or in other
settings.
