2. My name is Ezequiel Barros, I live in Brazil
and i will explain the usage of the 5 most
important synthesis modules:
Oscillator
Filter
Amplifier
Envelope
LFO
3. The oscillator generates a basic wave that is
used throughthout the synthesis process.
Oscillators generate various waveforms:
Sine
Triangle
Square
Sawtooth
The oscillator function is to generate a sound
for all the other modules in the synthesizer.
After generating it’s signal, it goes to the
filter section...
4. The filter in subtractive synthesis removes
unwanted partials.
Filters are classified as:
Low Pass
High Pass
Band Pass
The filter will start functioning when the
signal reaches it’s cutoff frequency, after
filtering, the signal is passed to an
amplifier...
5. The amplifier function is to increase the
level or amplitude of the signal.
It also functions as a way to pan the signal
from left to right.
6. The envelope in conjunction with
modulations is used to generate a pattern by
manipulating the attack, sustain, decay and
release of a sound.
LFOs are used to control different
parameters or characteristics of a sound in
the filter and or amplifier, such as pitch.
7. Here we can see the layout of a subtractive synthesizer which
Is a recreation of the WASP of the late seventies
8. Synthesis as a whole is a very interesting
topic, this assignment taught me that any
sound can be synthesized, this open up all
kinds of creative possibilities in music,
dreamy pads, ravey stabs, very low
frequency basses, it’s all there.
Thanks, feedback is appreciated!
