2. Background
• In December 2007, the EU-Africa summit in Lisbon adopted a
joint cooperation strategy that has a dedicated partnership on
STI.
AUC and EC developed the Book of Lighthouse projects as an
innovative way to ensure the implementation of the CPA.
In June 2014 STISA 2024 was adopted to replace CPA
The STISA-2024 was developed when the Commission is
simultaneously developing an African Union 2063 Agenda
Hence STISA 2024 addresses the aspirations that are identified
under the Agenda 2063

10. Fund allocation
• 17,500,000€ (19.9 million USD) is allocated for two
calls for proposals
Phase 1 (2016-2017) : 9 million USD
Indicative allocation : 500, 000 to 1,000,000 USD
Phase 2 (2017-2018) : 9 million USD

11. Who should apply?
There are three sets of eligibility criteria, relating to:
• applicant(s) who may request a grant and their partners
