2. Background
• In December 2007, the EU-Africa summit in Lisbon adopted a
joint cooperation strategy that has a dedicated partnership on
STI.
 AUC and EC developed the Book of Lighthouse projects as an
innovative way to ensure the implementation of the CPA.
 In June 2014 STISA 2024 was adopted to replace CPA
 The STISA-2024 was developed when the Commission is
simultaneously developing an African Union 2063 Agenda
 Hence STISA 2024 addresses the aspirations that are identified
under the Agenda 2063

• 17,500,000€ (19.9 million USD) is allocated for two
calls for proposals
