3. Examples
The body language within this cover
connotes a sense of dominancy or
power. This is a common theme
within this century – female
empowerment.
For many Grazia magazines – they use
direct mode of address to evoke intimacy.
I know this as eyes are often referred to
as 'the windows of the soul' which creates
the illusion of closeness and vulnerability.
They have created a brand identity
through the consistent use of
yellow throughout some of their
covers and through their websites.
The colour of yellow stimulates a
sense of positivity and happiness
which they seem to endorse as
well.

Analysis
Main splash images includes a celebrity who is standing upright in a
white revealing dress. The dress is lowcut and proceed to show the
lady's cleavage. Her upper body makes up most of the centre of the
cover which supports the male gaze theory. This possibly attracts
more male audiences into consuming the product. This could also
suggest why the subheading 'JODIE' is on a slight slant to prevent the
blocking of the male gaze.
She is using a direct mode of address with a serious face.
The Masthead is behind the celebrity with a white elegant font. The
subtle white contrasts with the yellow background but compliments
the colour of the women's dress.
Throughout the cover, the colour of black and white is persistent
throughout which solidifies their brand identity.
The subheading of 'Autumns arrived' has a black boarder surrounding
the white font. It is capitalised and uses sans serif font in order portray
a sophisticated look.
Below the subheading is a collage of clothing pieces which are a
curation of different colours and fashion trends. This indicates the type
of genre the magazine is because they value the fashion aspect.
The subheading 'PLUS Fleabag star's exclusive Emmy's diary'. This
encourages customers to buy this cover due to the intimate exclusive
section. It would be unlikely that it will be shared with other major
