2. J Dilla (Jay Dee) - Fuck the Police (Single/EP)
EP stands for Extended Play as opposed
to LP which is a full length album or
Long Playing record. EP’s meaning has
changed from categorizing 45 rpm vinyl
records to 4 to 6 track albums. Some
bands will record and release an EP to
promote the lead up to a full length LP.
Jay Dee’s “Fuck the Police” was a single
with the track “Move” on the B side to
promote an upcoming album called The
Diary in 2001.

3. Samiyam - Sam Baker’s Album
“Sam Baker’s Album” is a full length studio album by
Samiyam, released on June 28th, 2011 by Brainfeeder, a
record label founded by Flying Lotus. At 40 mins, this is
an LP.

4. ❖ Do you offer consignment to indie artists?
❖ Revilla does offer consignment to indie artists to sell their records to them at
a wholesale price. They said they believe in supporting independent music
and like to help when they can.

5. Events
❖ Revilla Grooves hosts a Live from the Listening Room event where they live
stream performances over on YouTube. Unfortunately, the shop is too small
to have a crowd for live music.

6. Record Store Day
❖ I couldn’t
fi
nd any RSD releases and asked the clerk about it. Apparently,
Record Store Day exclusives are priced so high they actually hurt some small
record shops. Instead of exclusives, they run in store sales on Record Store
Day’s.

7. SWAG
❖ They didn’t have any stickers, and unfortunately, I already lost the business
card they gave me. But everything’s online anyway. I didn’t need free swag, I
bought the records I picked and I’ll de
fi
nitely be going back. I’m glad I
checked out this shop.

9. ❖ I would love to perform a set for Live From the Listening Room and have
already emailed about it. I will also be bringing back some of my own vinyl
releases for the shop. I wouldn’t do an album release show or event here but
I’d like to get promo CD’s to give out for free to customers who buy any hip
hop records. The clerk liked my Kool Keith shirt and they had a great
selection there so I know they’re in the know.
