Seismic Supervisor- Position available
1. Seismic Supervisor Scope of Work
Introduction
Altea Resources plans to conduct a 2D seismic survey of approximately 1400 Km in Algeria.
Mobilization will begin around February 2016 (depending on the planning of the project). The
general objectives of this 2D seismic survey are:
Improve the quality of existing seismic data.
Improve signal to noise ratio and seismic signal recovery.
Re-define discovered prospects and define new prospects.
Ensure adequate imaging of deep and shallow reservoir horizons.
Ensure reasonable and regular coverage.
Altea Resources will need to hire some personnel to conduct the seismic at the startup of
geophysical operations, currently scheduled for February 2016:
1. Seismic Supervisor on crew
The applicants will already have experience in the area. Fluent English is mandatory.
Scope of Work
Review periodic instrument tests (daily, weekly and monthly), to ensure that the
recording system is functioning to the manufacturer’s specifications. Monitor geophone
and cable tests to ensure that they meet contractual standards and that a rotational
schedule of maintenance is being observed. Keep records of all QC data.
Ensure that all field data acquisition parameters are strictly adhered to and check
observer’s reports for accuracy and legibility.
Monitor survey methods to ensure that line positioning is within required accuracies and
in agreement with programmed pre-plot locations.
Verify the tests acquisition, if required, is done according to the proposed program
and parameters and ensure a complete report is made on time.
Ensure that receiver arrays are accurately laid out and geophones are firmly planted and
well buried.
Review daily and periodic vibrator tests and ensure that each unit is operating
within contractual standards.
Ensure that source arrays are accurately positioned and that (if applicable) shot-holes are
loaded and tamped to the required depth.
Monitor line clearance work to ensure that all crew personnel have safe access to
the seismic lines and that acceptable clearance lead is maintained.
Check method of computation of static corrections if applicable and accuracy of
derived values.
Verify the integrity of the seismic/positioning data merge.
Review processing flows used on in-field data processing system to ensure that a proper
daily QC control is made and optimum quality seismic sections are being produced in a
timely fashion for QC purposes.
Advise Company of any infractions of safety standards and assist (if required) in
investigation of any accident or near-miss.
Participate in periodic safety meetings with Seismic Contractor’s personnel.
Ensure that all working practices are environmentally acceptable.
Maintain a log of all data shipments, particularly magnetic tapes, and advise Company
of any delays in the dispatch of material which may adversely affect the processing of
the data.
Maintain a log of explosives consumption (if used) and perform periodic stock checks.
Keep records of the consumption of all reimbursable materials such that Seismic
Contractor’s invoices can be verified.
Ensure that all compensation/damages claims are settled fairly and promptly and in
accordance with rates approved by local government authorities.
Regularly discuss with Seismic Contractor’s management methods of
improving the efficiency of the seismic survey and of reducing costs where possible.
2. Maintain detailed records of all production figures from the seismic crew and agree
these daily with the Party Manager such that they can be reconciled against Seismic
Contractor’s monthly invoices.
Review and authorize for payment copies of all Seismic Contractor’s invoices for the
project.
Submit regular progress reports to Company detailing work completed, work in
progress and project costs to date. Keep Company advised of any potential cost over-run or
delay in project completion.
Submit a comprehensive and fully documented independent report on Seismic Contractor’s
performance on completion of project. The report should mention quality control
procedures, techniques used to improve data quality or production rates and problems
encountered which prevented any of the survey’s objectives from being realized and
should be supported by photographs. Recommendations for future work must be included.
Ensure all field and necessary support data is delivered to the processing centre as stated
in the contract
The Seismic Supervisor shall be the focal point in the field/crew for the QC and all team’s
communication with the Contractor and with the Company.
