1. Duties and Responsibilites of a Remotely Operated Vehicle Supervisor
♦ Management of all ROV/Trenching personnel, ensuring continuity of Services in
accordance with Company’s QHS&E policy and objectives, conducting Job Safety Analyses
and arranges crew safety meetings
♦ Arranges for, or provides representation at offshore project meetings, e.g. morning,
safety, project wash-ups, etc.
♦ Reports accidents, incidents and near misses to the Superintendent, QHSE and
Operations Managers
♦ Responsible for the offshore operation, maintenance and repair of the
ROV/Trencher and ancillary equipment
♦ Liaises with offshore client representatives
♦ Creates and transmits daily and weekly reports including daily logs, personnel
timesheets, weekly safety / ROV reports
♦ Maintains Offshore project documentation including record keeping
♦ Ensures that the Preventative Maintenance Schedule manual and Technical Log are
kept up to date
♦ Ensures spares and materials are requisitioned in a timely manner to maintain the
minimum stock levels in the system inventory
♦ Ensures goods received are checked against requisition, inventory updated and
completed paperwork is returned to the Operations Department
♦ Ensures that items dispatched from offshore location, whether for repair, warranty,
or on demobilisation are accompanied by the correct paperwork
♦ Participates as required in conducting risk assessments and developing procedures
to accommodate ROV/Trencher limitations, provide contingency plans and emergency
procedures as necessary
♦ Arranges for, or perform “on the job” training of personnel unfamiliar with the
particular vessel or ROV equipment in use.
2. ♦ Supervises onboard equipment maintenance in accordance with established
schedules and assesses system’s capability to perform tasks in given operational
constraints.
♦ Appraises personnel performance in the execution of the work such that any
training requirements are identified. To provide competency witness statements for ROV
personnel in accordance with the Company’s Competency scheme
♦ Reviews system manuals and maintenance log books and certification for validity,
currency, coverage and relevance for feedback to management.
HSE Responsibilities
♦ Familiarity with and compliance with Company policies and procedures at their
place of work
♦ Recognizes health, safety and environmental hazards and suggests means of
eliminating or controlling these hazards
♦ Ensures Stop the job policy compliance in the event that they, others or equipment
may be exposed to injury /damage
♦ Reports all hazards to management whether they are addressed or not
♦ Uses the reporting system for reporting all incidents, Near misses and Unsafe acts
♦ Assists with generating, updating and reviewing risk assessments and JSA’s
♦ Has a good knowledge of emergency plans, alarms and actions required in the event
of an emergency
♦ Participates in HSE Meetings and TBT within their department
♦ Participates in accident investigation where required
♦ Complies with all the Employee responsibilities listed in the Health and Safety at
Work Act 1974
♦ Complies with all PPE requirements and procedures
3. Qualifications and Knowledge
♦ Meets International Maritime Contractors Association competence criteria by
having satisfactorily completed an assessment as a Supervisor and held the position of
Senior Pilot Technician over a nominal period of 1 year.
♦ Demonstrates extensive technical and operational knowledge of ROV/Trenching
systems.
♦ Possesses extensive knowledge of current safety and quality standards as applied to
systems and their requirements in an offshore environment.
♦ Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly and head a team in achieving project
requirements.
♦ Possesses current offshore survival, medical certification and passport.
• Performs task and assessing weather conditions to ensure safety of ROV and crew.
• Co-ordinates dive records, video, audio and written format.
• Completes detailed procedures.
• Completes all technical reports.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of company Quality Assurance and associated
procedures.
