4. Film 1
Synopsis:
Act 1: Palm and her dad play by the shore of the beach. They both start digging in the sand and
find a special kind of seashell. Palm treasures this shell and holds it up to her ear which reminds
her of how much fun Palm and her father had that day, and it keeps her calm.
Act 2: 2 months later, Palm goes to school and the students at school call her a weirdo and talk
behind her back, for bringing a seashell to school everyday and talks to it whenever she is alone.
After school, and at night, they both sit around the dinner table and Palm puts her seashell on a
chair where her dad sits. Her mother is concerned and paranoid that Palm is not having a good
social life at school anymore. Kara asks how her day was and Palm responds with a monotonous
tone saying “It was okay”.
Act 3: The next day, after school, Kara picks her up to go see her father. They visit a graveyard,
and stand in front of her father’s grave while they weep. They place flowers over the grave as a
gift to him. The tombstone reveals that he died because of an accident on the road/crash.

Target Audience: 10 to 35 year old male/female. The typical audience who would watch it would
like one-off short films, drama, and want an indirect message in the story as opposed to being
told what the message is explicitly. In the NRS scale, the typical audience would be at Working
Class to Lower Middle Class. For the younger audiences in the age demographic (15-16 years
old), they would be at Lowest Grade Workers. The audience would most likely be categorized
with Aspirers, The Resigned.
6. Film 1
Form and Style: The lighting would be a mix between bright and vibrant when both Palm and
Don are on the beach and the other parts of the film become more gloomy, dark, and dull. This
is to represent Palm’s mood and is a big contrast between the two. The camera that will be used
will be a digital camera as it should keep the film as a modern style. The film will take place in
this current time period to make the film relatable to the audience and make them feel a
personal connection between them and the characters.
7. Film 1
Marketplace: It will be viewed online on streaming websites (YouTube), and it can be a
submission for short film challenges and contests. It will not have any sequels/spin-offs as the
short film is a one-off and is supposed to give a message.
8. Film 2

10. Film 2
Synopsis:
Act 1: The film opens up to a classroom with a single teacher and a single student. The student is in
detention and the teacher is the supervisor. Mrs. Moreno is forcing her eyes to stay open as she
wants to go home herself.
Act 2: 3 boys come into detention and the teacher interrogated them asking what they did wrong.
They said they that they bullied some smaller kids but said in a really menacing tone, the teacher tells
them to leave, they respond with a question, they ask why that student is in detention The teacher
says its’s because she cheated on a test, she stole the answer sheets from the safe containing them.
Every few minutes, more students come into detention stating their reasons, and their reasons
become less troublesome and are more like some minor inconveniences for other students and the
school. Mrs. Moreno refused every student to come into detention. But they insist that they must go
to detention.
Act 3: Mrs. Moreno starts to scroll through the news on her computer/laptop. The headlines on the
local news is urgent. There was a war going on in the local neighbourhood. All roads have been
heavily populated with soldiers with heavy artillery.
11. Film 2
Target Audience: 15 to 40 years old males and females (majority of the audience will be male).
The audience would be likely to watch short one-off films in their free time. The audience would
watch a film with the genre being surreal. The adult audience in the NRS Scale would most likely
be Working Class to Lower Middle Class, for the audience that is younger would be in the Lowest
Grade Workers. The typical audience if they were compared in the 4C’s, they would be The
Reformers, and the Explorers.
12. Film 2
Form and Style: It will be filmed on a digital camera, the overall lighting will be dimly lit
throughout the movie and the effects/lighting will be practical. The movie also takes place in the
late afternoon. I want to create tension in the air with the general atmosphere via the lighting
and the small silences in the classroom.
13. Film 2
Marketplace: This will be uploaded onto streaming sites like YouTube and possibly submit the
film as an entry of a short film challenge. There will be no sequel to this film.
